Thoughts from the Director's Desk

Welcome to my first site created in FrontPage!  Please be gentle as you visit.  ;-)

Month by month, I hope to use this space to share all sorts of interesting news from the world of Greyhound Adoption.  Visit throughout the year for activities, volunteer awards, seasonal fun, and all the news that's fit to print.  HINT HINT....BIG NEWS coming for Valentine's Day!  In the meantime, I thought I'd start the year off with a few memories from the holiday season.  Every year our members do the MOST creative things for Christmas!

June Pilcher, our Clemson Area Rep, created an online holiday greeting with her 4-pack of littermates Pol, Bel, Val & Tam.  Next time you see June tell her the dogs are CUTE and watch her light up.  <winking>  We'd have to let June tell us which order they're standing here  !

Christmas at Joanne Johnson's house meant cozy naps by the fire for JD, Roy, and their foster Paige.   Joanne is our official photographer and always catches the most wonderful shots of happy greyhounds!

Susan Colflesh, our CSRA Rep, took advantage of an incredibly beautiful fall day at our hot dog roast to capture her annual family portrait.  She copied the scenes shown here and included them in her Christmas cards to family and friends.  What a great looking bunch!

What would Christmas be without Yard Dogs???  I teach at a high school Career Center that includes a Building Construction class.  As a project for one of the 11th grade students, we ordered a reindeer pattern and modified it to look like greyhounds!  You can see that he's very proud of his creation too.  Those we had on hand quickly sold out but the instructor has graciously consented to continue the project so we can take more orders.

Susan and her girls Rebecca and Virginia got crafty with gold paint and creativity!

Robert and I always design our holiday greeting cards with a picture that features the dogs in some way.  One year we had a picture of the big black male Shadow (Child at the time) walking in the snow.  Last year it was a great relaxed portrait of the two of us and the dogs at BeachBoundHounds all dressed up for a cold morning walk at dawn.  You'll find this year's card below.  :-)

Did YOU take a photo or create a website for the holidays that you'd like to share?   Drop me a line!

Until next month, Greyhound Hugs and Kisses to you!

Kim

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2002!

This year, I knew from the beginning that our Christmas card just HAD to include little Emily.  :-)

When Robert and I married, I gained a whole family.  He had two children, Stanley and Stacey, and an extended close family living in Clinton.  Stanley in turn married a wonderful young woman named Cynthia several years ago.  With these great folks in my life, and my greyhounds, I thought I was complete.  Then this February, Cynthia and Stanley gave us Emily...a beautiful grandaughter.

We've made a weekly tradition of spending Sunday evenings together.  It's a night filled with wonder at watching Emily grow and our love for each other.  Robert and I didn't know we needed a little girl in our lives until the gift of Emily and her laughing, joyful love for us.

This picture was taken during one of those evenings at their house.  It's a typical example of what happens when you try to coordinate four big dogs, two adults, a wiggling playful baby, an adult trying to take pictures, and another adult trying to get everyone to look at the camera together just ONE time.  It's also a perfect description of our life now and we're loving every minute of it.

May the holidays bless you and yours with love unending!
