Additional Details:
Edge just arrived from the Blanchard Kennel at the Orange Park Race track. He only had 3 schooling races and finished toward the back of the pack in all of them. He was more interested in playing with the other dogs than chasing a lure. He even raced one of his schooling races with blinkers on in hopes it would encourage him to focus on the lure instead of playing with the other dogs. Playing with the other racers is not allowed during races and is the quickest way to be retired. So Edge won't turn 2 until June 6th and is already retired and looking for a home. He is a silly guy that loves to run and play but he calms down nicely and sleeps in his crate and is very quiet in the crate even when completely alone. So he may do fine as an apartment dog or an only dog. He has done fine with the small dog in his foster home but does want to play with him. He would need rules and supervision with very small dogs just because of the size difference. Edge passed his cat test at the vet's without much interest. When he got into a foster home with kitties he got more interested in them moving around him so we decided that he would do better in a home without cats. He really liked the small kids he met and was fostered with a small child. Edge raced at 69lbs so is a smaller guy. His sire is Dox Out Of Peace and his dam is Superior Carly. Edge is a very good boy that responds really well to correction. He is calm for such a young dog but does have some energy because he is so young. He will run around the yard a few times and settle right down though. He is curious about everything. He has done very well on his potty training. Updated Description! Edge, now known as Bowie, is once again available for adoption. His family loves him very much, but they have recently brought home an adorable newborn! His behavior has since changed significantly demonstrating that he's just not going to be safe with the infant in the home. This is unusable in greyhounds, but in his case they have tried very hard to turn the situation around. We agree with their decision completely and will move Edge into foster placement as soon as we find a good location. He is a great dog and this is the one and only reason they are returning him to us. To reflect this, we have changed the status above to reflect "older children only" so that interested adopters will see this explanation.
