Rize is a small 58lb female that just arrived from the Daytona Beach Race Track that is closing at the end of March. She had a pretty long career of 137 races but took a lot of time off from racing so has fewer races than most dogs that raced to nearly 5 years old. Rize traveled all over and raced at most of the tracks: Ebro, Sarasota, Dubuque, Flagler, Naples Ft Myers, Gulf, Wheeling Downs and Southland. She started at the tougher tracks and it took her awhile to get to a track where she could be competitive, but she did finally get up to the top A level of racing at Sarasota and Ebro and even competed in a Stakes Race. Rize hurt herself in a race in March of 2017, tripping over another dog that fell and was taken out of racing until August of 2017 to rest and recover. She came back and raced some races and even won one of them but re-injured herself in October of 2017. She was off until January of 2018. She raced very well until June of 2018, then was off until September of 2018. She only raced a couple of races and was off again until December of 2018. She returned to racing then and started winning more races and has been racing pretty well until now so her old injury is completely healed. She will turn 5 on May 5th. She is a friendly girl that is white with black spots. Her sire is Last Outlaw and her dam is WW's Rocket Lady. More as we get to know her.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Stanberry Family of Jacksonville Fl, 3.28.20

Bradford just retired from the Bolton Kennel when the Sanford Orlando track that he was racing at closed permanently due to the Corona virus. He was owned by one of our volunteers and we met him as a pup and have been following his career since then. Be sure to look at his other photos to see some of him as a puppy. He just turned 2 on December 20th. He raced 42 races and was pretty good getting up to the top A level. His sire is WW All Star Owen, who we also placed. His dam is Glenna of Ruckus. His littermate B My Angel Eyes arrived with him. So far Bradford has been very calm for a young guy. He is calmly friendly. He does like to talk a bit so may not be a good choice for apartment living. No reaction when introduced to a smaller fluffy dog so should be fine to live with them. He was raised on a farm around children so is used to being around them. Bradford is being vetted in the Augusta Area at Care More Animal Hospital. He has been great with his foster home's other greyhounds. More as we get to know him.

Fostered by (location):
Jacobson, Lexington SC
Adoption Status: Adopted by the Mooney family of Bluffton SC, 3.27.20

Sketchy is a gorgeous young girl that was raised on the Plum Creek farm and then raced briefly at Naples Ft Myers and then Sanford Orlando Tracks. She only raced a total of 4 races coming in toward the back of the pack in all of them. Normally she would be given more than 4 chances to win a race, but the Orlando track is closing in June so the decision was made to go ahead and retire her now. She won't turn 2 until June 14th and raced at 63lbs. Her sire is Oshkosh Kid and her dam is Cannonontheloose. Sketchy is a sweet girl that showed no interest in the cats when she met them and didn't even want to get close to them. She was just curious about the small dogs so she should be able to live with either. According to her trainer Sketchy is not a great eater and just likes to pick at her food. She is the only one in the kennel that is fed twice per day. She is young and, has had no injuries and will chase a lure so her trainer thinks she would do well in lure coursing or other dog sports.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Brundage family of Irmo SC, 3.27.20

Sketch just arrived from the Palm Beach Race Course. His sire is the famous Highly Classified and his mom is the famous Ethel Is Here. Sketch didn't inherit his parents talent for racing and out of 30 races, never managed to win a single one. He did get some seconds and thirds though. His trainer says he was more interested in playing with the other dogs than chasing the lure. They said he is very fast and agile and could have done well if he had tried. He arrived with his brother Mertz By Ethel. Sketch is a small boy that raced at just 66lbs. He will turn 3 on September 23rd. He passed his small dog test easily, not even wanting to approach. He sniffed the cat and backed off. He got a little more interested when the cat ran across the room later. He seems trainable, though, with some initial supervision. Sketch was initially fostered with small kids and did great with them. He loves going for walks and meeting the neighbors and loves playing with toys.

Azalea just arrived from the Waverider kennel at the Daytona Beach Race track that just closed. She was mainly competitive at the lower levels but did get up to B level a couple of times. She also raced some of her 50 races at Palm Beach. Azalea raced at 60lbs and turned 2 on November 30th. Her sire is the famous Barcelona Boss and her dam is Magic Violet. Azalea is a happy bouncy girl that seems fun and energetic. She was excited about the cat and curious. The cat slapped her and she wasn't really fazed by being smacked. She could easily be redirected when meeting the cat and just seemed curious and excitable about everything and not prey driven. She is probably cat trainable with supervision. She is used to being around her trainers children so should do fine in a home with kids. She can be bouncy and jump on people so she may accidentally knock over very small children. Azalea was vetted by Dr King at Pet Vet Animal Hospital in Charleston.

She is not tattooed or registered so her new family picked out the name Athena for her. She was born Dec 2nd of 2019. Mertz just arrived. He raced only 3 races and those were all at the Orange Park Race Track. He didn't race well there and was sent to Palm Beach. He was schooled there and just didn't show any promise there either so was retired and sent to us with his brother Sketch. Mertz sire and dam are both famous dogs Highly Classified and Ethel is Here. He didn't inherit his parents racing skill and his trainer said that he was really more interested in playing with other dogs than chasing the lure. Mertz is one of the greyhound grinners that pulls his lips back into a full grin whenever he gets excited. It is a submissive gesture and even though it looks a little like showing teeth it is actually a happy smile. Mertz is a happy friendly boy. He is a little guy that raced at just 67lbs. He turned 2 on September 23rd. Mertz passed his small dog test easily, losing interest after a good sniff. He checked out the cat, but after he got smacked by the cat he wanted nothing more to do with him. He is the littermate of Sketch who arrived in the same load.

Good w/ Children:

Fostered by (location):
Bowden, Greenville SC
Adoption Status: Adopted by the Laben family of Bluffton SC 3/6/20

SPECIAL SENIOR THAT HAS BEEN WAITING ON A HOME THE LONGEST! Gracie just needs a home with no other dogs. Gracie is a tiny black female that raced at just 57lbs. She originally came from the track in Orlando and raced only 9 races there, not placing in one of those races. Her birthday is March 28th 2010 so she will be celebrating her 10th birthday soon. As a senior, she qualifies for our reduced adoption donation of $250! Her sire is Tony's Oracle and her dam is USS Upside. She is a littermate to Michele Henry and Cute Candle that we already placed and a half sister to several other dogs we have placed. Gracie lived with cats for 2 years in her first home and is fine with them. She has been in two adoptive homes before and has been returned for the same reason both times. The first home adopted several puppies after adopting Gracie. Gracie has always had some issues with not liking to be bothered by other dogs when lying down or sleeping. Having a bunch of wild puppies in the house was too much for her. Her family decided to re-home Gracie and keep the puppies. She was placed in a home with no other dogs in December of 2014. That home adopted a second female dog in 2015 and Gracie got along well with her perfectly for 4 years. Gracie bit her housemate twice in 6 months time, once over food and once over her space, so the decision was made to re-home her again. We had Gracie checked by our vet and found that she is low thyroid and needs inexpensive thyroid medication. Low thyroid can cause behavior changes and grumpiness. We started Gracie on thyroid medication and she has been perfectly behaved with quite a few other dogs in her foster home for months now. Although Gracie is doing fantastic with the dogs in her foster home now, we want to place her in a home with no other dogs. She attends greyhound playgroup and is fine playing with the other dogs, so this isn't a dog that can never be around other dogs though. She has never been grumpy with people approaching her when she is laying down, according to her former family. She is friendly with adults and children she meets. Because she has shown grumpiness about her space, with other dogs, we chose to mark her 'older children only', just to be safe. Gracie isn't a needy girl and is perfectly happy laying on her bed most of the day. She doesn't follow you around and you will hardly know she is there. Gracie can be a little whiny sometimes. Gracie is doing great in foster care, has great house manners and knows how to use a doggy door. She is ready to be a pet for someone that wants a very easy, only dog that will be calm and well behaved.

Cat Tolerance:

Small Dog Tolerance:

Good w/ Children:

Fostered by (location):

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Isbell Family of Easley 3/3/20

Silver just arrived from the Celtic Hounds kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track with her sister Lola and her brother Maxwell. She raced her entire career of 137 races in Orlando. She got up to B level but mostly raced at the lower levels there. Silver is a gorgeous almost solid black girl. She raced at 64lbs and will turn 5 on July 20th. Her sire is the famous Oshkosh Slammer and her dam is USS Time to Go. She got along fine with the small dog she met. She seemed like she had been around cats before and knew they had claws. She turned her face away and wouldn't approach and the rest of her littermates did the same. Silver can be very vocal in her kennel so isn't going to be a good choice for apartment or townhouse living. She walks nicely on leash. Silver was just a little overwhelmed when she first arrived, but her track trainer says she is a very outgoing girl that is not a bit shy. Very outgoing. Although she was a little stressed by the move, she has been happy and waggy most of the time and seems to really like the adults and children she has met. She is a smart girl that can be a bit of a houdini. She has gotten out of her wire kennel a few times so will probably need a plastic airline style crate.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Cheetam Family 3/1/20

Delila came in from the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville FL. She is a beautiful light fawn girl that raced at 61lbs. She turned 3 on August 12th. Her sire is the famous Kiowa Mon Manny and her dam is Lee Juliet. She raced her entire career of 87 races for the Lester Raines Kennel. She got up to A level and even competed in and won a stakes race so she was a good racer. Nov 23rd she broke her leg. She had surgery with an orthopedic specialist in Jacksonville before coming up to our group. She has been having her splint changes and rehab in NC. It was a bad break and even though it is healing well she still needs more rehab so that she starts using the leg more. We hope she will be ready to be adopted at the end of February. Interested adopters can schedule meetings with her in the meantime. Delila is a happy, waggy girl that seems to like everyone she meets. She traveled very well and even did well overnight in a hotel during her trip. She walks nicely on leash. Delila was a favorite of her trainers kids. One of them would get in her kennel with her at the track and snuggle with her. So she seems like she is exceptionally good with children.

Cat Tolerance:

Small Dog Tolerance:

Good w/ Children:

Fostered by (location):

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Pike Family of Florence SC 2/29/20

Sara came in from the Brindle Kennel at the Palm Beach Race Track in mid 2017. She raced 112 races there and at Naples Ft Myers. She was a good racer getting up to the top A level. She raced at 60lbs and will turn 7 on May 15th. Her sire is the very famous Flying Penske and her dam is USS Santa Rosa. Sara was adopted by the Riggs family of N. Myrtle Beach 6/15/17. Her family returned her to us in February of 2020, but one of our volunteers, that dog sat Sara, asked if she could adopt her.  Sara is very calm, sweet and quiet. When she first meets a new person she will just stand there politely, waiting to be petted. She loves the attention but is a bit timid at first with new people and often won't go up to them to seek out attention. She just waits for them to come to her. She is a beautiful girl with a gorgeous, shiny, black coat. She is very quiet in her kennel and potties really well on leash, so would be fine without a fenced yard if her family was willing to leash walk her. She might be a good choice for apartment or townhouse living since she is so quiet and calm. Sara gets along well with other dogs and lived in a foster home with no other greyhounds so seems like she would be great as an only dog too. She passed her cat and small dog tests with no interest in the cat at all. She has lived with cats and a small dogs in a foster home and is used to seeing them both. Sara can do steps and will hop in and out of cars easily to go for rides, she loves to travel and just lays down in the car. She is pretty timid once she gets out of the car in a new place though, but is very good on leash. She is a very sweet, beautiful girl that is doing great in foster care and learning the rules of home life. Sara does tend to scare easily and seems like she is a very sensitive girl. She has been good with the kids she has met, but living with loud, running young kids might just be too scary for her. Quiet kids or older kids would be better.  Sara is completely vetted and ready to go home.

Fostered by (location):

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Dragon Family of McCormick SC 2/29/20

Panda came in from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. She also raced at Wheeling Downs in WV. Panda raced 134 races and retired due to an injured toe. She raced at 66lbs and is a beautiful muscular girl. She turned 4 on May 14th. Her sire is the famous Djays Octane and her dam is AMF Pause. She travels really well and loves to go for rides. Her trainer shared with us that Panda loves animal crackers. She would follow her around waiting for hers. When Panda goes into her kennel she turns around waiting for her cookie since she usually got one for going in her kennel. Panda was pretty timid at first when she moved into foster care. She tends to overreact to things that she thinks are scary at first but warms up pretty fast. The first time the HVAC system kicked on when she was outside, she was afraid to go back into the yard. She jumped at first when cars zoomed by on walks but is very good on leash now and loves walks. She has completely warmed up in her foster home now and meets them at the door with a wagging tail. She has become a very devoted velcro dog. Once she found the dog's toy box, she started piling all the toys on the bed and then laid on top of the toy mountain. Toys that squeak are her favorite. She liked the kids she met, but may be a little too timid to live in a home with loud fast moving little kids. Panda was too interested in the cats she met so needs a home with no kitties. She has been fine with the small dogs she has met. Panda follows her foster family around and likes to be in the same room that they are in and is such a love bug! She is quiet in her crate so may be a good apartment dog.

He had surgery with a specialist in Florida before coming up to us. Gunner's leg is expected to make a full recovery. He will be rehabbed in NC. Adoption Status: Adopted to the Tilden Family of Brentwood Maryland 2/28/20

Todd just arrived from the CTW farm in Texas. He never raced so we don't have a racing weight for him but he is a big tall handsome guy that should be in the mid 80lb range. He failed to show any promise as a racer in training at the farm. At the end of the races he kept running and playing and seemed to enjoy playing keep away from the people trying to catch him or maybe he thought if he stayed out there the lure would eventually start running again and he would get to chase it again. He is a very outgoing friendly guy that runs straight up to people any other time. He is a young guy that won't turn 2 until April 15th. He is a handsome dark brindle with white stockings and white chest and blaze on his nose. He seems like a snuggly guy that will stand next to you as long as you will pet him. He needs a little work on walking on leash because he does pull and gets excited to check things out. Todd travels really well and crates quietly. He slept through the first night in his foster home without a peep. He seems like a really nice guy that is going to be a lot of fun. He was nicknamed Goofball at the kennel. He can be very dramatic, yelping loudly the first time he had to go down 3 stairs. He is smart and learns fast, he could do the stairs just fine after the second attempt. More as we get to know him.

Tonto came in from the Daytona Beach Race Track. He also raced at Sarasota, Ebro, Flagler and Naples Ft Meyers Race tracks so has traveled around some. He raced 98 races and was pretty good getting up to the top A level a few times. He is a small male that raced at just 67lbs. He will turn 4 on June 16th. His sire is the famous Boc's Blast Off and his dam is Superior Rasta. Tonto seems like a very friendly, happy, little guy. He seems pretty confident and didn't seem nervous on the trip up. He wags and goes right up to everyone he sees. Very sweet. He has been in a home for about a month but he seems like he may have too high of a prey drive to live with tiny furry dogs. He has gotten too excited a couple of time playing with the Pomeranian in his home. He did not hurt her, but his family thinks he would do better in a home without a small dog. During his small dog test he got really excited to see the small dog at first, but it was always just appropriate sniffing, trying to figure out who this new small friend was. By the end of the meeting they were play bowing to each other trying to play. Tonto was initially quite curious about the cat as well, but backed off as soon as he got slapped and we couldn't get him to go back over to the cat, so he may do OK with a cat that won't engage in play with careful supervision at first. He seems like a very friendly, enthusiastic, playful dog that wants to meet anything and everyone.

Bellagio just arrived from Waverider Kennel at the Daytona Beach Race Track. He also raced at Derby Lane in FL and Wheeling Downs in WV. Bellagio's sire is Kiowa WW Brother and his dam is WW Risky Whiskey. His trainer says that once he warms up to you he will follow you around and just lean into you for affection. He seemed a little overwhelmed when he first arrived but was still calmly friendly. But if you start petting him he will lean right into your leg and stare up at you wanting more petting. He is a very calm guy that is good on leash. Bellagio seems like a very sweet boy. He is fine with the small dogs he has been around and is very used to being handled by the kids of his trainer. He passed his cat test easily.

She was a pretty good racer that even got up to the top A level of racing at Wheeling and that is a very tough track. She did even better when she was moved to Daytona and was frequently at the top level. Alva had a long career of 192 races. She raced at 60lbs and will turn 5 on May 21st. Her sire is Kelso's Locknload and her dam is Kelso's Lab Top. Alva is a friendly, happy girl that can be bouncy when excited. She did fine with the small dog at the adoption kennel and with the small white dog she was tested with when she got to us. She also passed her cat test and has been living with cats in her foster home. She just carefully sniffed the cat and then lost interest and checked out the rest of the room. When she was vetted she tested positive for Lymes Disease so is on an antibiotic, Doxicycline, for that. She didn't have any symptoms of Lymes and seems to be healthy with no long term affects. Alva is a very sweet girl happy girl with a wonderful personality.

Becky just arrived from the Waverider Kennel at the Daytona Beach Race Track. She had a long race career of 120 races. She started out her career at Orange Park in Jacksonville FL but was moved to Daytona Beach for about half her career. She mainly raced at the lower C and D races but did get up into A and B briefly. Becky is a small girl that raced at just 58lbs. Her sire is the famous Barcelona Boss so she is a half sister to Angus and Dude that arrived with her. Her dam is KB's Santa Rina. Becky will turn 4 on April 25th. She has a very sweet and gentle temperament and is getting along great with the greyhound in her foster home. She has mastered the indoor and outside stairs. She enjoys her toys and was fascinated by Game of Thrones. She walks well on leash. She is can be a bit choosy about her food and treats at first but is eating well. Becky was too interested in the cats at the track kennel so we didn't think she could live with them, but since she has met several cats and has been fine with them, so we changed her to cat trainable. She is very used to being around kids because her trainer has 4 kids and brings them to the kennel to help with the dogs.

Dude just arrived with his brother Angus from the Daytona Race Track. He didn't actually have an official race. Like his brother he started out racing at Tri State in West Virginia but was move to Daytona Beach when he didn't show a lot of speed. We could only find where he schooled 4 times. He quit in his last race back in June. He has just been hanging out at the track since then. Dude turned 2 on September 8th. He raced at 78lbs. Dude's sire is the famous Barcelona Boss and his dam is Dizzy Diva. He is a very confident, happy guy. He gets along well with other greyhounds and  his foster brother who is a small dog. He passed his cat test at the track but failed a subsequent test after he arrived so he needs a home with no kitties. He seems like a pretty smart guy because he mastered the doggy door on the first try. He is a happy guy with lots of personality.

Fostered by (location):

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Hollar family of Hickory NC 2/16/20

Lola just arrived from the Celtic Hounds Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. She raced 149 races in her career. She also raced briefly at Dubuque and Mardi Gras race tracks. She raced a lot of the longer races and did get up to the top A level. Her sire is the famous Oshkosh Slammer and her dam is USS Time To Go. She came in with her sister Silver and her brother Maxwell. Although they did come in together and raced some at the same track they have all been apart racing at different tracks and will be fine being adopted out separately. Lola is a tiny, short girl that raced at 60lbs only because she is stocky. She is a gorgeous shiny black girl with flashy white chest and feet. Lola will turn 5 on July 20th. She passed her small dog test easily. She and her littermates have been around cats at some point because they all refused to get near the cat and turned their face away to avoid the claws if the cat came near them. Lola is the most timid of the litter. Although she approaches carefully with her head down low, she seems like she wants to be with people. She seems to warm up fast once she knows you and will lean in for affection. Fast motions can make her a little nervous, so we think living with loud, young kids would probably be too much for her. When she met some toddlers she turned her head away from them. She politely allowed them to pet her and didn't run away, but they did make her nervous. She can be pretty vocal in her crate so probably wouldn't be a good apartment dog. Although she complains sometimes about being in her crate she seems to feel pretty safe there and often chooses to be in there.

Max just came in from the Celtic Hounds Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He is arriving with two of his sisters Silver and Lola. He and his sister Lola look just alike. He started out his career in Orlando. He showed some promise as a racer so was moved to Dubuque where he raced briefly at A level. Since Max was good, he was moved up to a tougher track, Southland. The competition there was too stiff, and he only won 1 race, so he was moved back to Dubuque and then to Wheeling. When he wasn't able to win another race at either of those tracks he was moved to Derby Lane. He only won one more race there, so was moved back to Sanford Orlando where his sisters were racing. He was retired after just a few races there. Max is a flashy black guy with a white chest and white feet. He raced at 72lbs and will turn 5 on July 20th. His sire is the famous Oshkosh Slammer and his dam is USS Time To Go. Max travels well. Max got along fine with the small dog he met. He appeared to have already met cats before. As soon as he saw the cat he turned his face to the side and carefully backed away to avoid the claws. Max seems like a pretty calm guy that has been a little overwhelmed so far. He seems like he will warm up after a day or two though. He seemed to like the kids he met and wagged happily. He can be vocal in his kennel occasionally so may not be a great apartment or townhouse dog. So far he hasn't been a very good eater, probably due to the stress of the move.

Submissive is a return that was initially adopted back in November of 2013 before he was even 2 years old. He had broken his leg while training to race in Dubuque. We were asked to take him before his race career even started. His leg was healed up before being adopted to his first family. He was renamed Meno then. Although his home started out to be a good one and he was happy and spoiled, things can change over time. We just got him back from what appeared to be a poor situation. He had gotten heart worms but his owner hadn't been willing to treat it for some time. He is now being treated for heartworm and our vet is expecting him to make a full recovery. Although Meno wasn't in the best home situation he is a wonderful sweet guy. He loves to be on couches and beds and prefers those to dog beds. Meno's sire is the famous Flying Hydrogen and his dam is Slatex Sassy. He is a very smart guy that taught himself how to take off his own muzzle as a young dog before we got him. Meno travels well and is a very laid back boy that just wants love and a soft place to sleep. Meno has lived with cats and loves them. He also is good with other dogs of all sizes and kids. He lived with a female greyhound in his previous home until she passed away. He will turn 8 on March 23rd.

Angus just came in from the Daytona Beach Race track with his brother Astro. He started out race training at the Tri State Track in West Virginia but only just schooled there and was sent to Daytona Beach to continue schooling. He didn't show much speed and finished so far behind the other dogs that he got an OOP on his race record. That means he was out of the picture and couldn't be seen in the race video because he was so far behind. After some time schooling he got a little better and actually raced 5 real races, but just wasn't fast enough so was retired in October. He just came to us from the track. Angus raced at 77lbs and turned 2 on September 8th. His sire is the famous Barcelona Boss and his dam is Dizzy Diva. Angus passed his cat test at the track but failed a subsequent cat test so needs a home with no cats. He has been fine with the small dogs he met. Angus gets along well with his two greyhound roommates in his foster home. He has mastered stairs inside and out and he loves playing with his toys. Angus is gentle, affectionate and loves people. He is a confident boy and does great on leash walks.

Santana came in intially from Orange Park Race Track in Florida in early 2019. He only had 4 races listed and did win one of those, but after his one win, came in last. He just turned 3 on January 8th. He is a very tall lanky guy that raced at 80lbs. His sire is the famous Soprano Drive and his dam is Braska Angie. He is a gorgeous brindle guy with white socks, chest and blaze on his nose. Santana is very outgoing and likes people. His foster mom says he is a velcro dog and wants to be touching her or laying next to her all the time. When she is doing dishes he is asleep at her feet. He is very good on leash and stays right with her on walks too. He passed his cat and small dog tests with just a brief sniff of both. He seems like an energetic guy that will make a great pet. Santana was adopted in March of 2019. His new family was older and ended up having to rehome him in February of 2020 due to health issues. We were thrilled that one of their friends that babysat him and knew him well decided to adopt him.

Her sire is the famous SH Avatar and her dam is WW's Tropical. Camile's entire litter were all named for hurricanes. Her trainer described her as a friendly girl and says that she is a smiler when she gets excited. She seems like a pretty calm girl so far and did pretty well walking on leash. She is used to being around her trainers kids and liked the two small kids she met here. Camile was initially very excitable around the cat, but after just one slap she decided that cats were not something she wanted to get close to. We couldn't get her to go near the cat again she put on the brakes and wouldn't even walk near the cat. She did fine with the small dog she met and just sniffed him appropriately.

Dax just arrived from Wave Rider Kennel at the Daytona Beach Race Track. He also raced briefly at the Orange Park Race Track. He raced a total of 64 races and did get up to the top A level briefly. Dax raced at 77lbs and just turned 3 on Jan 3rd. His sire is the famous Dragon Fire and his dam is Barts Sweet Pea. Dax has a big personality and is pretty energetic for a greyhound. He is very outgoing and friendly and goes straight up to meet everyone he sees. He wags so hard that he injured his tail as a pup and lost half of it. He is pretty excitable and wants to jump up and give hugs to everyone he meets. We are working on toning down his enthusiasm a bit. He is curious and wants to check out everything. Dax seems like a very confident guy that isn't afraid of anything. He is playful and goofy. His trainer says he mumbles and talks to himself in his kennel and will carry on a conversation with you if you talk back to him. Dax is very used to being around kids because his trainer brings her kids to the kennel with her. We marked him older kids only because of him jumping on people. He would knock a toddler or small child down in his excitement without more training. Dax liked the small dog he was around that lived in the racing kennel and did fine with the small dog he met when he arrived with us too. He initially showed a little interest in the cat he met but lost interest pretty fast after sniffing and having the cat hiss at him a few times.  If you want a greyhound that is personality plus, Dax is your guy. Dax is a strong excitable guy that does pull on the leash when excited so will need some more leash training.

Scout is a large brindle boy that raced at 79lbs. He turned 3 on September 1st. His sire is Flying Coal City and his dam is Diamond N Ruff. Scout is a very friendly, happy guy. He is a big strong boy that needs a little work on not pulling on leash. He seems like a confident curious guy that has a great personality. He was roaching (sleeping on his back with his feet in the air) the first day if foster care. That is a sign of being very comfortable and relaxed. If he even sees you look his way he will wag his tail happily. He passed his small dog test at the track without much interest and also did fine with our small dog. He was initially very interested in the cat but did lose interest after the cat slapped him, then he checked out the rest of the room. We caught him stealing glances back at the cat so we weren't completely convinced that he had completely given up chasing the cat though. We think he probably would do better in a home with no cats. He liked the kids he met too and is used to being around the kids in his trainer's kennel.

SUPER STAR!!! Jordan is a super star that retired from racing to become a dad. Now he has retired from his dad duties too at 9 years old. He just turned 9 on January 22nd. Jordan is a super star that won 50 races out of his 177 career races and raced his entire career at the top A level of racing. Even when he didn't win he usually placed in the money. A lot of his races were the big money Stakes races reserved for the best racers at the track. He was a member of the 2013 All American Team and was the number 4 racer in the country that year. He was the # 12 racer in the country in 2014. Jordan was the winner of the 2013 Derby Lane Fall Sprint and the 2013 T.L. Weaver Memorial. He also won the Derby Lane Inaugural twice in both 2013 and 2014 and in record time. He placed 2nd in the 2013 Derby Lane Holiday Challenge. Jordan placed 3rd in the 2013 Derby Lane Distance Classic and he placed 3rd in the 2012 Derby Lane Holiday Challenge and 3rd in the 2014 Derby Lane Distance Classic and 2014 St Pete Derby. We feel like we should ask for his autograph and are thrilled to be trusted to place such a super star. So far Jordan has had 26 pups that are old enough to register, but there are more that are too young to register that will be later. Jordan is a small black male that raced at just 67lbs. His sire is the famous Flying Penske and his dam is Kiowa Tiffany. He is a sweet friendly boy that came in especially for one of our volunteers that wanted a senior. He will be staying with her as long as he gets along well with her current dogs.
