Breeze originally came to us from the Ebro race track. She was a good racer that raced an amazing 234 races, at Sarasota, Sanford Orlando and Ebro. She was a top level A racer that raced at 60lbs. Breeze is a littermate to dogs we already placed and we have waited quite awhile to get her. She turned 5 on July 14th and is one of the rare greyhounds that raced passed 5 years old. Most retire earlier. Her sire is Lonesome Cry and her dam is Jewels Tango. Breeze is a friendly, happy girl that is confident and social. Breeze passed her cat test and is living in a foster home with cats and small dogs. Breeze had a lot of bad teeth when she arrived and had to have all but 5 removed but she has no problem eating. Breeze is very quiet in her crate and potties on leash well so might be a good apartment dog. She is very sweet and gives kisses. Breeze was in a home for a couple of months but didn't do well there as an only dog and was showing signs of separation anxiety. She has been fine in her foster home where she has other dogs around her all the time, so she it looks like she just needs a home with another dog to be OK. This is a super sweet girl and so pretty!

Etta just arrived from Daytona Beach. She turned 5 on March 19th. Etta actually retired in October of 2013 and has been living with her trainer since then in her home. She was supposed to be a mom, but there are no litters listed on the racing database, so we aren't sure if that ever happened. Etta raced 118 races in Abilene, Bluffs Run, Jefferson County, and Daytona Beach Tracks. She raced at 61lbs so is a mid-sized girl. Her sire is Iceman Brutus* and her dam is Rocking Jade. We placed one of her littermates years ago too. She is supposed to be calm and friendly and will talk to you. Since her trainer chose her out of all the greyhounds in the kennel to keep as a pet she must have a very special personality. Etta has a beautiful shiny coat. She is being fostered with small dogs and does well with them. She was initially a little interested in cats during her cat test but lost interest in them once one slapped her. We think she should be able to live with cats with a little training and supervision at first. Etta likes kids and has lived with one in her trainers home.

Fire raced at 61lbs and turned 3 on Feb 14th. Her sire is Djays Octane and her dam is Iruska Wild Side. She has a higher prey drive and did not pass her cat test and does seem to mistake very small dogs she doesn't know for bunnies too. She does better with medium sized dogs. She did do fine in her foster home even with a small dog once she got used to seeing him and knew what he was, so may be fine with them with supervision at first. Fire is a calm, confident, friendly girl. She happily checks out everything and then hurries back to be with people. She loves people the most. Fire takes everything in stride and is doing great in her foster home. She did seem to like the kids and all the people she met at PetSmart and did great there at her first meet and greet. Gale came to us from the Birmingham Race Track. He is a beautiful black male that was shy and overwhelmed when he first arrived but warmed up to be friendly and sweet with his foster family. His sire is Gable Sour Cream and his dam is Lady Jeannine. Gale raced 79 races mostly at Birmingham but also briefly at Naples-Ft Myers in Florida. He only won 3 races in his career, but he did place some. He last raced October 1st and was at the track adoption kennel waiting for a group or adopter to take him for months before we got him. He was just a shy, black boy that got overlooked. He just turned 3 on March 1st and raced at 73lbs so is a mid-sized guy. Gale enjoys going for rides and gets in a vehicle and lays down for the trip, but is timid in new places and meeting new people so probably would do better with a family that didn't do a lot of traveling with their dogs. He is a very low key, calm guy that is more of a homebody since he is shy. He does cautiously go up to new people if given a little time to warm up. Gale has been fostered with us for some time now so should be an easy addition that is already home-acclimated. Gale was too interested in chasing kitties to be able to live with them. Although he initially tested fine with small dogs and does fine with them most of the time he needs a home without small dogs. Gale does OK in a home with just one or two other large dogs but too many dogs and activity makes him nervous. What he wants most is a family that will let him hang out with them at night. He loves to sleep in the room with his humans. Gale is a timid guy that wants a home that is quiet and low key like he is. He has a lot of love to give to his new family.

She has 134 races listed. She turned 4 on April 11th. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and her dam is Tapped Out Tony. She is described as being a very friendly, playful girl that can be a little stubborn. She is a hugger that tried to give hugs to every person she met at the vet's office. She is gorgeous and has a lot of personality too, we can see why she was a favorite with her trainer at the track. She loves cuddles, marshmallows, milk bones, belly rubs and loves to play according to her trainer. She has been living in a foster home with a tiny bossy female dog and does fine. She passed her cat test easily. She is a smart girl that figured out how to get out of a metal crate pretty fast. She will need a plastic vari kennel that the airlines use since she is a bit of a houdini. She has done well with the kids she has met including a crying baby and just seems to love everyone.

Ally's sire is Makeshift and her dam is JD Forever. She is a tiny girl that raced at just 52lbs. She is settling in well to foster care. She is interested in the cats but her foster family is working on training her to be around them so we still have her listed as testing until we get a better feel to how the training progresses. She is a kisser and a hugger so be prepared for lots of loving. No accidents in the house so far. Ally loves stuffed toys that squeak and loves to run around with them. She is young and doesn't turn 3 until September 28th. She still has just a little puppy in there. Ally is very focused on her people and wants to be with them. She does complain when kenneled and she can't get to her people so she may not be the best dog for apartment or townhouse living.

She only had 45 races before she had a minor injury and was sent back to the farm to be a mom. Her last race was in June of 2013. Fallon had one litter of pups in 2015 but had difficulty having them and had to be spayed during the process. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and her dam is Kay V North. Fallon is a very calm, friendly girl that travels well and isn't phased by anything. She is pretty confident and not stressed by new surroundings so should adapt to a new home very well. She is a tall gorgeous girl that raced at 69lbs. She is the most chill, unflappable greyhound we have seen in awhile. Fallon is also the rare greyhound that loves to play fetch. She loves tennis balls and that is about the only time she gets really excited. Her adoptive mom reports that Fallon is good with cats, kids and small dogs. Fallon's DOB is March 11th 2011.

David is a mid sized black male that raced at 69lbs. He just retired from the Birmingham race track after only 13 races. He didn't win any of his races so is already retired even though he won't turn two until September 16th. His sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and his dam is Baysuperstitious. We placed his full sister from another litter named Ale Jessica Alba. David passed his cat and small dog test so should be able to live with either. David is a sweet, friendly boy that loves people. We have noticed that he can be a bit timid at first with men but warms up fast. He rode very well on the dog haul and was very calm. He is a bit of a marker but seems like a very well behaved boy that wants to please so we think he will figure out his potty training quickly with a little supervision. He pulls some on leash and then turns around and walks backward or sideways so he can see you while you walk. He still has a very silly pup side to him but he is calm and quiet in his kennel. He was being goofy and was making silly faces during his quick photo shoot right after being unloaded from the hauler so we need to take more pictures of him.

Crow originally came from the Sanford Orlando race track but though some bad luck and no fault of his own has been in two adoptive homes already. He is a pretty brindle male that raced at 74lbs. He won't turn 4 until Oct 1st. His sire is Tim's Crow and his dam is Red Hot Victory. Crow is a very friendly, outgoing guy that was in his first home for about 5 months but they had to return him to us because of some serious health problems. He is being returned again to us again with his housemate Jazz now for financial reasons. It has been a hard decision for his current family because they really love the boys. Crow travels well and passed his cat test. So far he has crated quietly so we think he would be perfect for a townhouse or apartment living. He potties quickly on leash and was living in a home without a fenced yard so is used to being leash walked. Crow is a very playful fun guy that has enough energy to keep things fun and isnt a total couch potato like many greyhounds. Shortly after he was adopted the first time Crow broke one back leg. The leg is completely healed and you can't even tell where he was injured and he doesn't limp on it at all but he does have some pins in his leg. Crow is a very loving, friendly guy and what a cute guy!

She passed her cat test with no interest at all in chasing the cats or small dogs so should be fine to live in a home with either. So far Taffy seems pretty calm and sweet and maybe just a little timid. She chose to stand by people rather than checking out everything or playing with the other dogs. She has adjusted well to her foster home and is happily laying on her back on a dog bed with all 4 legs in the air already. So she doesn't seem too stressed by the transition. She also did good with the kids she met at our Petco meet and greet and seemed to like them. Sweet, cute girl.

He just politely sniffed them and went on to check out other things in the house. He is 3 and won't turn 4 until November 20th. Mickey is adjusting to home life really well. Angel went to the track but didn't do well in schooling races so retired very young at only 1.5 years old with no races listed. Her racing weight is listed as 64lbs. We originally got her from GAP NE Florida kennel at the Orange Park race track in Jacksonville. Her sire is Beyond The Chill and her dam is HD Cherry. She was pretty timid at first with us but warmed up to her family and turned into a wonderful loving devoted girl. Angel has been in a wonderful home for 2 years now but her owner's health is declining and can no longer take care of her dogs. She is heart broken at having to give Angel, Fargo and Lucy up.  Lucy and Fargo have already been placed in new homes. Angel turned 4 on April 4th. She has wonderful house manners and loves to sleep on beds and couches. She has lived with a cat and slept curled up with it and is fine with small dogs. She is very loving and sweet with her family but very timid with strangers and in new situations. She is more of a homebody that prefers to hang out with her family and not go out. She will need some time and patience to warm up in her new home. She is quiet in her crate and feels comfortable there and will run there when she is afraid. She walks wonderfully on leash with other dogs but she is very fearful on leash, bolting around and trying to get back inside, if no other dogs are around. She would do best in a home with other dogs because she gains confidence from them and is a real follower. She is very overwhelmed and spooky and doesn't seem to know what to do if she doesn't have a dog to follow. This is a long legged, blonde bombshell. Look at all the eyeliner she is wearing!  The photos are the ones we took when she first arrived but still looks about the same. She has put 12 lbs on so is on a diet now.

He raced 121 races. Lorenzo turns 4 on May 26th and hopes he is home to celebrate his birthday with his new family. Lorenzo can be a bit shy at first but warms up and will be a great sweet boy. His trainers say that once he warms up he has a lot of personality and is a real goof but is a very chill dude most of the time. We have lots of pictures that were taken of him at the track kennels. He has a special blanket that he had at the track that he loves that came with him. It helps him when he is stressed and we left it with him at the vets office. He is like Linus and needs his blanket. Lorenzo seems like a very sensitive boy that doesn't handle change well. Even though he was scared by everything new and pretty reserved he did come up to us for love. He did seem to be more stressed when he was away from the other greyhounds so he may be one that needs a home with other dogs. He did whine and bark some so may not be an apartment dog. Lorenzo is doing great in foster care and warmed up right away to his foster family. They just love him and say what a very special guy he is.

Pixie is a tiny older girl that raced at 56lbs and was a very thin 52lbs when she arrived. She is one of the oldest dogs we have ever taken in and will turn 13 on August 11th. Pixie's family originally adopted her from another group out of the area. They are moving now and are unable to take her with them. She was very fragile and had a constant tremor that made her whole body shake when she was on her feet. Pixie also has a bad limp. We had it x-rayed and it appears to be the result of arthritis in an old injury. Our vet noticed that she was being given 4 times the pain medication she should have been getting. That big of a dose was causing a lot of the trembling and by putting her back on the correct dose a lot of her shaking has gone away and she is able to run and play a little now and is much less fragile in just a couple of weeks. She did have a bad fall down some stairs a few years ago and that was when she started the medication and probably why she limps. Pixie's blood work looked good for a girl her age and she even has good teeth. She is on inexpensive thyroid medication and her levels are perfect. As of her last vet check she has gained 3 lbs and looks much better than when she arrived. Our vet is very pleased with her progress and has cleared her for adoption. Pixie is a very calm, laid back, girl, that seems friendly and good natured. She lets complete strangers lift her in and out of vehicles and just stood there when the vet drew blood without yelping or flinching. She has lived with cats and small dogs and is good with them. Back in her day Pixie was a star racer and won top A level races and even competed in special stakes races. She raced most of her career at Daytona Beach but also raced a few races in Wichita. Pixie has 130 races to her credit. She was retired to be a brood mom and had one litter of 7 puppies in April of 2006 before becoming a pet. Her sire is Quiet Traveler and her dam is Shoot Fortheloot. This is a super sweet girl that is looking for a family that will love her for the rest of her life. Because Pixie is a senior she qualifies for a reduced adoption fee and some generous donors have offered to help with that.

Delta just arrived from the Melborne Race Track adoption kennel. She raced 34 races in Orlando FL before she broke her leg on November 28th 2014, She also raced about half of her races at Derby Lane in Florida. Her leg was operated on at the track on December 1st and she was moved to the Melbourne Track Adoption Kennel to complete her rehab. Her surgery was a success and the bone healed up completely already. When she arrived some of the wire and pins had broken and worked their way through the skin so she had to have all the hardware removed at the end of February. She is all healed up now and ready to be adopted. She is putting weight on the leg and walking much better since having the hardware removed. Our vet that took out the hardware says the knee looks great and has good range of motion. Delta isn't able to do really long walks or hikes yet but does like to go for shorter walks and will work up to longer walks as her leg gets stronger. She is expected to make a full recovery and will be able to run and play normally. Delta was too interested in the cat to be able to live with cats. She is fine with small dogs. Her sire is Red Ranger and her dam is SE's Racen Rainy. Delta is a calm girl that walks nicely on leash. She goes right up to people and is very sweet and friendly. Delta is a very good girl with some quirkiness. She loves her crate and insists on having a crate to sleep in even if the door is open. Her other quirk is that she waits for an escort in the house. She will just stand at the door with the door open and waits to be led in. What a gorgeous girl! Those eyes!

Andrew just arrived from the Derby Lane Race Track in Florida. He is an XL red male that raced at 85lbs. He raced 64 races and a lot of them were at the top A level so he was pretty good. Andrew's sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey. His dam is Deco Caraways who we actually adopted out. We also placed two of Andrew's sisters Vale of Arryn and Riverrun. Andrew is a very friendly, social guy that loves people. He is playful but only in short spurts, and is a lower energy, calm guy. In spite of his XL size, Andrew walks great on leash.  He passed his cat and small dog tests easily. He is very well behaved in the house in and out of the crate when people are home with him. He is a Houdini when left alone in a crate though and can get out of the typical metal crate. He will need a plastic vari kennel (airline crate) that is more escape proof than the typical wire crates when he goes to an adoptive home. Andrew probably would not do well in an apartment because he has been a little noisy when left alone. Andrew would love to find a family that was home most of the time.

Will is a 73lb mostly white boy with one blue brindle spot on his face and golden eyes. He is has 83 races to his credit and was very good getting up to AA level at Tri-State before being moved to Sanford Orlando to race. Will's sire is Kelsos Fusileer and his dam is Bobby's Blanket. He is described as the happiest boy ever by his trainer. She says he loves cuddles and attention. He turned 4 on April 11th. He did very well on the trip up to the vets and got along well with all the other dogs in a crowded situation. He was pretty good on leash and didn't pull much. He did seem calm and well behaved. He didn't pay much attention to the small dogs at the vet clinic or in his foster home. He also passed his cat test. He politely sniffed the cats and couldn't figure out why they popped him on the nose and weren't friendly with him. So he should be able to live with cats or small dogs. Will did complain loudly about being in his kennel when he first arrived so may not be the best dog for an apartment or townhouse.

Although the two brothers look very much alike Luke is a little darker red brindle than his brother. He won't turn 4 until November 20th. His sire is Kelsos Fusileer and his dam is Pam Ford. We also placed another son of Pam Ford's named Bioelectric. Luke passed his cat test and has been good with the small dog that he met, he didn't even try to chase ducks that came into the backyard. He was a little overwhelmed when he first arrived and is the more timid of the two brothers. Luke does warm up pretty fast and follows his foster parents around and plays with toys after just a few days. He sleeps next to his foster's bed and stays asleep all night. He walks great on leash too. Luke is a sweet loveable guy that is very affectionate when he warms up. He has been quiet in his crate so may be a good choice for apartment or townhouse living.

He is a big traveler, racing at Southland in Arkansas, Dubuque, Naples Ft Myers, Ebro and finally Birmingham Al. He was never really a great racer but raced well enough to have a long career and did win some races and placed often. Rocky has 177 races to his credit. His sire is the very famous Lonesome Cry and his Dam is Kelsos Peach. He turned 5 on Nov 13th. We placed one of his littermates PG Up My Dough a year or two ago! Rocky did not pass his cat test so needs a home with no kitties but he did do fine with small dogs he met. He came in with a few rub marks on his face from his muzzle but they are better and we need to get new pictures. His foster home says Rocky is a calm, well behaved boy and acts like he has always lived in a home. No issues settling in with their other greyhounds and he picked up house manners right away. He is a great boy! Very friendly and sweet too. He seems like he will be an easy first greyhound. He has been quiet in his foster home so may be OK for townhouse or apartment living.

Hammer is white with gorgeous dark red spots. The color in his pictures doesn't show how red he is. His sire is Rico's Vintage and his dam is Rico's Pigathius. He raced 28 races at Tri State and Wheeling in WV and them went to Birmingham AL. Hammer was very friendly on the trip and goes up to everyone he meets wagging and asking to be petted. He is calm and seems very well behaved. At the kennel he did great with other boys in the turn out pens and is very friendly when meeting other dogs on leash. Hammer was protective of his space when laying down with dogs he didn't know at first but he has gotten much better now that he knows the dogs and has been corrected a few times for it. He enjoys traveling and gets in a vehicle and lays down. Because he has shown some grumpiness when laying down, we think he needs a home with no kids or maybe teenagers that will understand not to bother him when he is laying down or sleeping. Hammer did pass his cat and small dog test.

He needs some work on leash walking because he pulls and is strong but is already getting better. Shakira just arrived. She is a tiny 50lb girl that is an unusual blue brindle color. As tiny as she is, she raced 106 races and did pretty well getting up to the top A level. Her racing owner just decided to retire her even though she was racing well. Her last race was an A level race. Her sire is Speedy Trent and her dam is CTW Trivia. Shakira is 3 years old and will turn 4 on June 9th. She is pretty timid at first in new situations and places. She will shiver some and pull to get away on leash sometimes when walking in new places. Her shyness seems to be situational and not toward people though. She likes people and will stay close to her foster mom and follow her around. Very very sweet and friendly. She is not timid with other dogs at all and can be pretty bossy. She did pass her cat test and her small dog test. She plays nicely with other dogs outside and enjoys their company. She was a little growly with all the new dogs in her foster home at first but has calmed down and will share her beds and space with her housemates after the first week so it seems like she only has space issues right at first with dogs she doesn't know. The only place she is protective of is her crate and will growl when other dogs come by it, silly girl. Shakira hasn't had any accidents in her kennel so far. After the first night, she has been very quiet in her kennel so would probably be a good dog for an apartment. She seems to do OK when left alone so should be fine as an only dog. Smokes sire is the very famous Flying Penske and his dam is Barts Cutie Pie. Smoke passed his cat and small dog test. Smoke travels well and just got in the van and laid down on the trip up. He is quiet in his crate so might make a good apartment dog. We were told he could be pretty shy but he has been cautiously friendly with us since he arrived. He is calm and will give a slow wag while staring up into your eyes waiting to be petted. Very nice boy with cute ears that stand straight up. He does like his crate and feels safe there so will choose to stay there with the door open until he gets comfortable enough to come out. He does like to lean on people and give hugs.

Joy is coming in from the Birmingham race track where she raced most of her 78 races. She also raced briefly at Naples Ft Myers race track. She got up to the top A level of racing. Joy turns 3 on July 6th. Her sire is Turbo Penske and her dam is AMF Herself. Joy raced at 61lbs. She is a very friendly sweet girl that won the hearts of all of our volunteers at a recent track visit. This girl is a really really sweet girl with a lot of personality. She passed her cat test at the track with just a little interest at first but easily corrected and lost interest quickly so we think she will be OK in a home with cats with supervision at first. She also did fine with small dogs. More as we get to know her.

Cash is registered as a red boy but he does have one tiny brindle stripe on his face so probably should have been listed as brindle. He is arriving from the Birmingham Race Track. He also raced at Ebro, Sarasota, Naples Ft Myers and Wheeling Downs in WV. He raced 90 races but only won 5 of those. Cash is a sweet boy that we met at the track adoption kennel on a recent visit. He seemed like a calm friendly guy. Pascal is 3 now and won't turn 4 until November 27th. His sire is BD Phillips and his dam is CTW Veronica. Cash raced at 71lbs so is a mid sized guy. He was retired due to a broken hock. It his healed now and he still has a limp but is getting better every day.

Pascal just arrived from the Birmingham Race Track. He raced 41 races there but only actually won 2 of them. Pascal is a mostly white male with some brindle spots. He is 2 now and will turn 3 on August 22nd. His sire is Kelsos Fusileer and his dam is WW's Rysta Rough. Pascal passed his cat and small dog test so should be fine to live with either. He raced at 72lbs and is pretty tall for his weight. Pascal seems like a very tolerant dog. On the dog haul dogs were milling around and stepping over him and on him in the van and he didn't lift a lip or growl at anyone. He just laid there trying to sleep. He seems like a pretty calm guy that is friendly and happy. Pascal did great with a baby and a toddler he met. What a pretty boy too!

Dusty is a senior gentleman who will turn 10 on August 10th. He really isn't all that big and raced at 75lbs. His sire is My Zapper and his dam is Kelley Dunn. Dusty raced the last time in September of 2009 and had a long career racing 120 races mostly in Birmingham AL. Dusty has had a string of bad luck though. He retired and was adopted first by a family that let him get into horrible condition and eventually returned him to the adoption kennel about 20lbs under weight. He was so thin that they weren't sure he would survive when they got him. The adoption staff at the track kennel spent months nursing him back to health and one of them ended up adopting him. Now, his most recent family is forced to give Dusty and their other greyhounds up because of more bad luck. He is a well behaved boy that is great with cats and small dogs and other dogs of all sizes male and female. He is so well behaved that he hasn't been crated in years and is a great house dog. He doesn't have accidents in his house. Dusty would be a great addition for a first time greyhound owner or someone that wants to add to their pack. Because Dusty is an older guy he has a reduced adoption fee of $200. He has had a checkup, shots and a fresh dental and is ready for his new life to begin. Dusty does have one corn on one toe that causes him to limp a bit on hard surfaces otherwise he seems healthy and he is so so sweet.

Toni is a pup that came straight from the farm and never went to the race track. She just turned one on October 8th so is still very young. She is small and weighed 54lbs at her vet check. She never raced because of an injury on the farm. Another dog attacked her and removed most of the skin between her tail and hipbones in September. The wound was too large to stitch so had to heal up on its own slowly. The injury is mainly cosmetic and doesn't affect her ability to run or play. She will just have a large scar. Toni couldn't go off to race training with a big open wound so her owners held onto her for a couple of months to get her to the point that she could be transported to us from Kansas in November of 2014. Toni never completed the registration process and never got a racing name. She has been called Toni since a pup though. Her sire is the very famous Lonesome Cry and her dam is Toni Works. Toni passed her cat and small dog tests and has been living in a foster home with an Italian Greyhound. She is a very good jumper and has been known to clear fences so needs a home with a 6 foot fence. Toni is calm in the house but loves doing laps and playing outside every time she goes outside to potty so she really needs a fenced yard to play in. She is a natural sitter. She crates well and is mostly quiet except at meal times when she whines some. Toni is not a confident girl and tends to be timid and jumpy. There is construction going on at her foster home and the noise of that scares her. She will take awhile to warm up to a new situation but once she warms up she is a friendly, silly, happy girl. She is likely to be pretty nervous at first when she is adopted and goes to a new home. She loves people and approaches most people wagging indoors, but sometimes outside she still is a bit timid and runs around just out of reach for a few moments until she gets her courage up to approach.

UPDATE 1/15/15: Toni went to our vet to have her spay and we had our vet do some reconstructive surgery on Toni's back to make it look better while she had her under. The reconstructive surgery was not successful. The good skin would not attach to the scar tissue and eventually sloughed off leaving another big open wound. So that meant more healing time for Toni.

UPDATE 3/4/15: Toni is finally nearly healed up and just about ready for adoption! Through her treatment Toni has been happy and acts like nothing is wrong. She continues her daily runs in the yard and doesn't even flinch when we put medicine on her wound. We really love this sweet girl!
