Kid is an extra large male that raced at 76lbs but has put on a few pounds and is in the 80s now. He just turned 3 on April 12th. Kid is a gentle giant and was a kennel favorite because of his sweet, gentle, friendly personality. He loves people and will lean on you. He has a very low prey drive and passed his cat and small dog tolerance tests with no interest in chasing at all. He is such a well behaved boy that he was picked as the best one in the kennel for a first time foster home. He is one handsome big guy too! More as we get to know Kid. Kid was adopted in 2011 and lived with his family until March of 2020. He passed away due to nasal cancer just a month shy of his 12th birthday. He will be missed. |

Rich is a gorgeous 75lb fawn male with a small white blaze on his face and white toes and chest. He was a good racer that had a long career of 225 races. He just retired from the Birmingham Race Course and also raced at Pensacola and Southland tracks. He was a top A level racer and did compete in a big stakes race for the top racers at that track so he was a very fast guy. He just turned 5 on June 26th. Rich is a very friendly happy guy that seems confident and easy going. He was initially curious about the cats he met but lost interest after he got slapped. He may be OK in a home with a very confident cat with supervision and training. No timid cats though. He did fine with the small dog he met and tried to get him to play with him. Rich is pretty good on leash and seemed to travel well. His sire is PG Tiger and his dam is Whispering Pines. More as we get to know him. Rich was adopted in 2017 and passed away suddenly in February of 2020 of unknown causes. He will be missed by his family. |

Simon is a beautiful small white boy with freckles called ticking. He raced at just 64lbs so is very small. He is friendly and happy and loves everyone he meets. He gives kisses and grins when he is happy. His birthday is February 22nd. On Easter Sunday he played in the yard with several small children and did great with them and seemed to really enjoy it. His foster mom says even though he has just arrived he is making himself at home and seems like a wonderful guy already. More as we get to know him. Simon was adopted by the Burgess family in April of 2012. He passed away 12/20/29 of a radial nerve tumor that spread to his spine, just short of his 11th birthday. He will be missed. |

Stani is a big sweet girl with a lot of personality. She raced at 67lbs and is stocky and muscular and probably closer to 70lbs now. She has a beautiful, shiny black coat. Stani is happy, waggy and silly. She will turn 4 on December 10th. Her sire is the famous Trent Lee and her dam is Nikita Design. Stani raced 49 races and Flagler and Naples Ft Myers and was quickly up to the top A level and even competed in Stakes races. She had a career ending injury in April of 2014. She had a broken bone in her hock so she was sent back to a farm in Oklahoma to be a mom. Her leg has long healed and seems fine now. It doesn't prevent her from running around and playing normally. She doesn't have a noticeable limp, but may not be the best choice for dog sports or long hikes because those may aggravate an old injury. Stani doesn't have any pups listed on the database yet but if she had any they would be too young to register yet. Stani seems like a confident girl and likes to stand next to you leaning on you for love. Very sweet girl and gorgeous with that flashy white chest and beautiful coat. Stani was initially very interested in the cat until it slapped her. Then she play-bowed to it showing she was no threat. When that earned her another slap she wouldn't go anywhere near the cat again. She did fine with the small dog in her foster home and a toddler too. More as we get to know this stunning girl. Stani was adopted by the Kolat Family in 2015 and lived another 5 years with them. She passed away of a heart tumor at the end of January in 2020. She will be missed by her family. |

Hyatt is a small red male that raced at 69lbs. He just turned 4 on May 1st. He is quite the traveler racing at Gulf, Sarasota, Ebro and Dubuque. He has 91 races listed. His sire is Gable Oscar and his dam is Lil Cash Advance. He has done well with the toddler in his foster home and the small dog next door. He needs some work on his leash skills but is getting better already. He has been a little loud in his crate so may not be a good dog for an apartment. He is doing well settling in to his foster home and turned into a favorite foster very fast. Hyatt is a friendly guy that likes adults and children. He is SO cute with all that eyeliner and those eyebrows! Hyatt would be a wonderful dog for someone that would like to compete in obedience or agility. He does a natural flip finish when you say his name! He wants to please and seems like he is willing to work and do just about anything for attention. He has a higher energy level for a greyhound and that is important for a dog that you want to do training with. He is a fun guy that would also be a good hiking or jogging partner. He is very loving and wants to be a big lap dog. He is all about getting attention and love. Hyatt was adopted by the Georgian Family in 2013 and renamed Leo. Leo had a wonderful life with them and his adopted brother Henry for the next 7 years. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 1/27/2020 due to sudden heart failure. He will be missed. His photo is their favorite of him snuggling with them. |

Bunny is a young 7 month old puppy that broke one of her legs while playing with her littermates. Her owners asked us to take her after surgery to plate the leg. She came through surgery fine and was transported to our group. She is healing well and is expected to make a full recovery. Bunny's sire is Kiowa Mon Manny and her dam is TDS Molly. We don't typically get very many greyhound puppies so this is a rare chance to get one. They are much different than the calm retired racers. Like any puppy they need supervision, training and plenty of exercise. As soon as she is healed and well enough to run around again she will need a fenced yard to play in. Bunny enjoys playing with a small dog in her foster home and loves children so should do well in a home with either. Bunny was adopted by the Lyda Family of Easley 4/16/14. She was found dead in her yard of unknown causes in 2018. Another greyhound in the same home was relinquished to us a year later with heartworms that hadn't been treated. That could have been the cause of her death at such a young age. |

Breeze originally came to us from the Ebro race track. She was a good racer that raced an amazing 234 races, at Sarasota, Sanford Orlando and Ebro. She was a top level A racer that raced at 60lbs. Breeze is a littermate to dogs we already placed and we have waited quite awhile to get her. She turned 5 on July 14th and is one of the rare greyhounds that raced passed 5 years old. Most retire earlier. Her sire is Lonesome Cry and her dam is Jewels Tango. Breeze is a friendly, happy girl that is confident and social. Breeze passed her cat test and is living in a foster home with cats and small dogs. Breeze had a lot of bad teeth when she arrived and had to have all but 5 removed but she has no problem eating. Breeze is very quiet in her crate and potties on leash well so might be a good apartment dog. She is very sweet and gives kisses. Breeze was in a home for a couple of months but didn't do well there as an only dog and was showing signs of separation anxiety. She has been fine in her foster home where she has other dogs around her all the time, so she it looks like she just needs a home with another dog to be OK. This is a super sweet girl and so pretty! Breeze was adopted by the Barnes family of Myrtle Beach 7/14/15. She crossed the rainbow bridge in January of 2020 due to Lymphoma. She was a one of a kind and her family misses her very much. |

Katie was originally placed by our group when she was young in April of 2007. At that time she was called "Gully". She was named Katie and returned in 2008 due to a serious health problem of one of her owners. She was rehomed with her latest owner in April of 2008. Her current owner is choosing to re-homing Katie at 12 years old because she doesn't think Katie is happy after a divorce, move and schedule change. Katie just turned 12 on March 19th. Katie raced only 4 races at the now closed Jefferson County Kennel Club in Florida. She finished toward the back of the pack in all her races, so she was retired young at just 2 years old. We had Katie checked by our vet to be sure she was healthy. Other than a corn on one of her feet, that causes a limp on hard surfaces, she got a clean bill of health. She has lived with cats and small dogs so should be fine to live with both. She is actually going back to her original foster home and they have already decided to keep her, so she isn't available at this time. Katie travels well and wants nothing more than a soft couch to lay on. She is very laid back at her age and just is happy to nap most of the day. She is friendly with everyone. Her sire is Trojan Cruze and her dam is RK Goin Topressu. Her photo is one we had from when she was young. |

Jeserell is a bouncy, happy little girl. Her tail wags furiously if she even thinks you are paying attention to her or looking her direction, in fact she wags her whole body. She is very friendly, loves people and gives plenty of kisses. She passed her cat and small dog test so should be able to live with either. She is very food motivated and will eat well in or out of her crate. She loves her crate and will often choose to lay in there with the door open. She loves toys and will collect them all in her crate. She never has torn up a toy though, just carries them around. She follows her foster mom around the house curiously but not in a too needy way that could be annoying. She is a pretty confident girl that is likely to be the more dominant female in a pack of dogs. Jezerell is such a love bug that you just have to love her back. Jeserell is a littermate to ThatsWhyURThere who is one of our other recent adoptions. She is a half sister to Jet, Drama, and Cracker Barrel many of our other already adopted hounds. Her father seems to throw some exceptionally nice dogs. Jeserell was adopted by the Greene Family in 2011. She was re-named Aggie and had a lot of other nicknames too: Iggy, Ags Mags, Agatha, and Dragon Breath. She ended up being a performer with the Hounds of East Fairhaven and performed at Renaissance Festivals. She was a friendly funny girl. She crossed the bridge at 11 years old in November of 2019 due to an aggressive cancer in her jaw. |

Bear is a very large boy that raced at 80lbs. He just celebrated his 3rd birthday on May 24th. He is nearly all white with 3 small brindle spots on his side, tail and one ear. Bear loves everyone and gives kisses. He has an awesome, happy, friendly personality and is very goofy and silly. He follows his family around and can always be found close by if not laying at your feet. Not much bothers him and he loves everyone. Although he loves playing with kids and being around them most of the time, he has shown that he really doesn't like kids in his face or bothering him when he is laying down. Because of that we think Bear will do best in a home without small kids. He seems like he has a little too much prey drive toward cats to be able to live with them and did not pass his cat test at the track. He has been fine with a small, white dog that lived in one of his foster homes though so he seems like will be good in a home with small dogs. Bear corrects easily and all you have to do is tell him not to do something once or twice and he stops for good. This is a stunning guy with such a great personality! Bear was adopted in 2012 and lived until 2018. He enjoyed camping and hiking with his family. RIP Bear. |

Stinger is a huge, gorgeous, white and brindle male that raced a couple of races in Abilene and was moved to Sanford Orlando where he retired from in October of last year. He is an extra large male that raced at 94lbs and has 29 races to his credit. His sire is TNT Star Wars and his dam is Super C Queen. He celebrated his 2nd birthday on May 10th. He has been in 2 homes since October of last year. He was returned to us the first time because his family was expecting twins. They didn't feel he will be good with young children because he startles easily when asleep. He did live with a 10 year old boy though and loved him. He is a friendly. happy guy that likes people and is very well mannered in a home. He is good with small dogs but is not good with cats so needs a home with no cats. Stinger was adopted by a second family that didn't have a fenced yard. They found that he really prefers his privacy and likes to find that perfect spot to do his business which didn't work out well on leash and let to long unproductive walks and a few accidents. Stinger was also pretty excited and distracted by the rabbits and small critters wandering in the area he was supposed to go potty in which contributed to the problem. So Stinger is looking for another home with a fenced yard where he can be comfortable. Stinger was adopted by the Burns family in September of 2014. He crossed the bridge due to Osteosarcoma on December 9th 2019. He was one of the very special ones and will be missed. |

Mattie is a small 54lb female. She has no races listed. Her sire is Clappin Thunder and her dam is Blindedbythelite. Mattie loves people and wants to be around them more than the other doggy housemates. She has shown no anxiety moving into her foster home and new life-- learned to go up and down stairs right away, and even likes looking at herself in the mirror! She chases balls, loves to play, and is showing herself to be smart enough to learn tricks. Mattie's DOB is May 29th 2007. What a beautiful, smart girl! Mattie was adopted by the white family and lived with them until she crossed the bridge at 12.5 years old. She passed away when a cancerous tumor was found during emergency surgery in December of 2019. |

Leila just arrived from the Birmingham Race Track where she raced 31 races. She never won a race so her career was short. Her sire is Cry Homer and her dam is Humdinger Doll. Leila raced at 64lbs and just turned 2 on August 16th. She was more interested in checking out everything in the room than the cats when she met them and did fine with the small dog too. So she should be fine in a home with cats or small dogs. More as we get to know her. Leila was adopted by the Darby Family in 2014 and lived happily with them until she passed away due to renal failure in mid 2019 |

Tune Town raced at the Naples Ft Meyers track but never won a race. Her sire is Jack Whistler and her dam is More Excuses. She was born on Christmas of 2006. She is a sweet girl who LOVES people. Tune is stunning with an unusually glossy, mahogany red and black brindle coat. She can be vocal when crated away from people so she would not be a good apartment dog. She potties on a leash so she might do OK without a fenced yard. She loved playing with the small dog in her first foster home so she should be good with dogs of all sizes. She loves people best, though, and would probably do best with a family with someone who is home a lot. She likes to go for rides and passed her cat test. Tune lived 10 years with her family before crossing the bridge in November of 2019 just shy of her 13th birthday. Her mom says that even though she never won a race she won her heart the first time she laid eyes on her. Tune was adopted to be a companion to a greyhound that was lonely after his buddy passed. Since she has outlived 3 adopted brothers. Her family is lost without her as is her remaining adopted brother. |

Charlie Sheen fans, here is your chance to cuddle with him on your couch! Charlie is a gorgeous, tall, 75lb, black male that will turn 7 on December 27th. He retired from the Naples Ft Myers Track in May of 2016. He also raced at Palm Beach, Flagler and Mardi Gras tracks. Charlie Sheen was a very good racer and was the 2014 Celebrity Champion at Naples Ft Myers, he was also the 2014 Palm Beach He's My Man Finalist and the 2013 Palm Beach Dick Andrews Futurity finalist. He raced 170 races. Charlie's sire is Yahoo Omar and his dam is Flying Lakeside. This guy was a champion. Charlie has a beautiful glossy coat and is very handsome. He has ears that both go straight up when he is excited. Charlie only ever had one accident in his foster home and is very well behaved. He is not destructive and doesn't get into anything when he is left home alone. The worst thing he has ever done is to tear up a napkin or two. He is good with other dogs and trainable with cats. He hasn't been around kids much but always is happy to see them on outings. Charlie was adopted in 2016 but his owner was unable to keep him after a couple of years. There was a family nearby that had just lost a greyhound that wanted to take him so they got him in 2018. He had a wonderful home for a year until he crossed the bridge in late 2019 due to a large tumor on his heart. |

Maverick is an older gentleman that is looking for a new home because his previous owner died suddenly. He lived peacefully with 5 other greyhounds there, that have all been placed already, so we do fine in a home with other dogs. Maverick will turn 9 on May 24th so qualifies for our reduced adoption fee of $250. Maverick has been retired and in his home since Dec of 2011. He was known as 'Satin' at the track had a very brief unsuccessful racing career of 23 races and only ever won one of those. He actually stopped running in the middle of one race. He raced a few races at Palm Beach, then a few at Naples Ft Myers, Flagler and finally finished up at Orange Park in Jacksonville. His owner tried to find a track that he would be competitive at, but Maverick just didn't have his heart into chasing a lure, so was retired young. He was initially placed by the adoption kennel at the track in Jacksonville and was returned to them when his owner passed away. We picked him up from them on a recent track trip. Maverick raced at 75lbs so is a mid sized male. His sire is the very famous Dodgem By Design and that is where he inherited his cute floppy ears. His dam is Surprise Plan. Maverick is a pretty calm guy that still has very short bursts of playful energy. He has good house manners and is friendly and loving. He is in good health and has had excellent care by his previous owner. Maverick likes kids and has been fine with the small dogs and cats he has met so should be good to live with them. He did live with a number of other dogs in his previous home and gets along well with others. This is a super sweet boy that just wants some love and petting. Maverick was only in his home for a year and a half before he crossed the bridge in October of 2019. RIP Maverick |

He also raced at Southland in Arkansas, Dubuque and finished up at Sarasota so he has done a lot of traveling. He does travel well. He seems like a friendly boy that is pretty calm. Gambino is an extra large, black guy that is very friendly. He is tied with one other dog to be the biggest dog we have ever adopted out with a racing weight of 98lbs. He is pretty calm for a young guy and well behaved. He does need some training on leash because he pulls some and is pretty strong. He is a gentle giant though and seems to be very sweet and gets along well with others. He retired from Derby Lane without an offical race. He did some training races there but they decided he was too big to be a successful racer. He seems pretty smart and is picking up on house manners quickly. He crates nicely and quietly. He likes people and seemed to like the children he has met too. He did good with small dogs that walked past him at the recent meet and greet. He still needs tested with cats. Gambino developed seizures shortly after his adoption in 2013. They were able to be managed with medication until 2019 when they were no longer able to be controlled and he passed away. This big guy was loved by so many and will be missed. |

Chopin came to us from the Birmingham Race Course. He also raced a race at Southland in Arkansas. He is a pup of Dave the Dog who is a famous dog that retired and lives in our area. His dam is Tech Bomb. He was born on September 27th 2006. Chopin didn't race, long only 14 races are listed. Boy is this a handsome guy! Chopin is very outgoing and loves everyone he meets. He LOVES to go for rides and will hop right in and may even try to help you open the door. He seems like he is going to be a fun guy because he has loads of personality. He needs some work on his leash manners because he is very strong and very excited about seeing everything. Nothing seems to bother him, even new things. He takes everything in stride. This is one very happy go lucky guy. He does have a pretty strong prey drive and didn't pass his initial cat test. We need to do more testing with small dogs and kids. Chops was adopted in 2010 and had a long happy life with his family. He passed away in 2019 and will be missed. |

Diamond just arrived from the Daytona Beach Race track. Both of her races listed were at Derby Lane and she came in last in both of them so was moved to Daytona Beach in hopes she would do better there. She did not show much promise there either in schooling so was retired very young. Diamond won't turn two until February 3rd. She is a tiny brindle girl that raced at just 52lbs. She has silver fur between her black brindle stripes so is beautiful and unique. Her sire is Mankato and her dam is Keeper Bow Show. Diamond's trainer says she is very friendly and just wants to cuddle. She is going to make a very loving pet. She is a very laid back girl for one so young. She loves to have a good run every now and then but mostly just wants to snuggle. She is a pretty quiet girl so may be OK for apartment living. Diamond passed her cat and small dog tests without much interest in either. More as we get to know her. Diamond was adopted in 2015 and was renamed Bella. She crossed the bridge in 2019. |

Ashley is an older girl that is being returned because her owner is having a baby and moving. She has been with her family since 2010. Ashley is a brindle girl that is around 60lbs. She will turn 10 August 18th. Her sire is Matt's Comet and her dam is RJ Blown Away. She has 10 races listed starting out at Southland in Arkansas in schooling in 2007 but was quickly moved to Florida for the rest of her races. She didn't show much promise so was quickly retired. Ashley is a very shy girl that is likely to be pretty overwhelmed by losing her family and having to move to a new location and adjust to a new family. She will be checked over by our vet to be sure she is healthy when she comes in and will have a full dental and anything she needs. Because she is an older girl she will qualify for our reduced adoption fee of $200. Ashley did pass her cat and small dog test. She has not been around kids much but has done OK with the ones she has seen. Because she is a timid girl she would probably do better in a home with quiet kids rather than loud rowdy ones. More after we get her. This is a photo of her taken when she first arrived years ago. She has more white on her face now. Dutchess had a long happy life and passed away in 2019. She will be missed.

Sage is a very tall leggy girl that was the tallest dog on this dog haul, even taller than the boys. She raced at 71lbs. She is 3 and won't celebrate her 4th birthday until December 1st. Her sire is the famous English racer Balligari and her dam is Elysium. We adopted out her her littermate Happy Stutz who has been a sweet, nearly perfect guy. So far she seems just as sweet as her brother. She has a beautiful bright red coat and a white chest and some white toes. She has ears that go straight up sometimes just like her mom's. She has 78 races to her credit racing at Wheeling in WV, and Palm Beach and Sanford Orlando in Fl most recently. She had a minor injury in April and was rehabbed at the track by her trainer before they sent her to us. She is not limping and we can't tell that she even had an injury now. She seems like a calm, friendly girl. She traveled well on the way up from the track and quietly settled into her crate when she arrived. So far she has been well behaved and quiet in her crate. She is playful and loves to play with toys. She really wants to please so the smallest correction works to stop any mistake. She passed her small dog test with a boston terrier but she is definitely not going to be cat safe. She was very excited about the cat she met and even a smack by kitty claws didn't make her back off. Sage was adopted by the Chapman family in 2013 and passed away in October of 2019 just before her 10th birthday. RIP Sage you will be missed. |

His birthday is December 20th and he is a littermate to another one of our available dogs Duchy and has been living with her in an adoptive home. Unfortunately his mom's schedule changed and she is suddenly having to travel for work so can't keep the dogs. Blade was good with the cats and a small dog in his former foster home. He seems to like kids and chose to go up to children at a PetSmart meet and greet. He is a friendly sweet little guy. His sire is Swahili Eile and his dam is To Shy to Say. We got Blade very young and he didn't have much of a race career but did go through some training to race. Blade was rehomed with the Oldman family in 2012 and had a happy life with them until he passed away in September of 2019. He was the sweetest dog they ever had and will be missed. |

Gladiator just retired from the Orlando track. He is a gorgeous, red brindle male with white toes, chest and white tail tip that raced at 75lbs. He just turned 4 on July 14th. Gladiator was a good racer that raced in 100 races. He actually competed in a couple of stakes races and raced at 7 tracks. He is a happy, friendly guy but is a calm, well behaved guy too. Gladiator's sire is the famous Craigie Whistler. He passed his cat and small dog tests at the track but did show a little interest at first in the outdoor cats at his foster home so we listed him as trainable with cats. He has done great on his potty training in his foster home and responds very well to the word "No" the rare times that he needs to be corrected. He did great with a house full of visiting children last week and seems to like kids. He likes to play with toys by throwing them up a few times. Then he is ready for another nap. He loves to lay outside in the sun. Gladiator seems like he might be a good watch dog because he will sometimes alert you when he sees his own reflection in a window at night. He is pretty sure that other dog is up to no good. He is normally quiet in his crate and crates willingly. He is a very good boy and seems to have adjusted to life in a home with no problem at all. He is a great guy! Gladiator was adopted in 2012 and had a wonderful life with his family until he passed away in September of 2019. RIP Glad you are very missed. |

Dash is a red male that just arrived from the track in Orlando. He is a sweet, very calm, guy that never caused any trouble at the track according to his trainers. They felt he would be a very easy, sweet dog for just about anyone. He is a mid sized male and weighed 71lbs at the vet. His birthday is Sept 7 2008. So far Dash has been very quiet and very calm at his foster home. He doesn't make a peep in his crate and sleeps thought the night. He seems to walk pretty good on leash already and didn't have any trouble the first time he tried steps. He passed his cat and small dog test with flying colors too. He loves people and was a big hit at his first meet and greet calmly going up to each person and leaning into them wanting to snuggle. He never got nervous or excited even in the busy Expo center with all the people, noises and things going on. He just kept greeting each person as if it was his job. He was very gentle with kids and really seemed to like them. If you want a handsome, very laid back guy Dash may be the one for you. He is one of the more laid back 3 year olds we have met. Dash was adopted in April of 2012 and was with them until he crossed the bridge in mid 2019. He will be missed. |

Dalma came from the Jacksonville Fl race track. She raced 132 races at 62lbs. She raced most of her races at Orange Park but also raced at Derby Lane. She is a pretty black girl that celebrated her 4th birthday on Feb 1st. Her sire is Daddy Warbarks and her dam is Zoomn Cheri. Dalma's last race was in January. She had a couple of seizures at the track and her owner decided it was best to retired her. She was at the track kennel from January until May waiting on a group that could take her and didn't have any more seizures even without medication to prevent them. The stress of the move from the track triggered another seizure so we put her on medication to prevent more and she has had no seizures since she started the medication. The medication is inexpensive and she may not even need to be on medication once she is in a permanent home since high excitement and stress seem to trigger her seizures. Dalma is a sweet, happy girl that is very very loving. She will curl up in your lap and loves to snuggle with people. She is very friendly with people and gets along great with the other dogs in her foster home. Her current foster home would love to dog sit for her after adoption if she is adopted in the area. Dalma did pass her cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live with either. She likes the small children in her foster home. Dalma does potty nicely on leash now so may be OK for apartment living. Dalma was adopted by the Searles family of Summerfield NC 11/2/14. She had a wonderful home with them until she passed away in 2019. |

Potzy raced in Florida at just 66lbs so he is a smaller male. He was a pretty successful racer that raced until nearly his 4th birthday, which was on October 7th. Potzy is very cute, mostly white with a few brindle patches and some freckles in his white fur. Potzy passed his cat test but was a little interested in the cat at first so will need some supervision with new cats at first. He passed his small dog test and is living in a foster home with dogs and cats. He is a friendly, happy guy that is very devoted to people and wants to be with his family doing whatever they are doing. He isn't shy or nervous and is very outgoing and loving. Potzy has great house manners and picked up on potty training without a problem. Potzy doesn't like his crate much and is vocal when left in one so would not be the best choice for an apartment or townhouse. He has been quiet and well behaved when left out of crate, even by himself. Potzy was adopted by the Kerr family 5/27/12 he lived until 2019 when he passed away at the age of 12. He will be missed. |

Gaby just arrived from the Sanford Orlando Race Track and was raised on the Bolton Farm near the track. It is a smaller beautiful farm where the dogs get lots of one on one attention. Gaby Is a pretty red girl that raced 179 races at 63lbs. She was a good racer, racing much of her career at the top A level there. Her sire is the famous Bella Infrared and her dam is Waubun Brenda. Gaby will turn 5 on June 8th. Gaby is a friendly, happy girl. She passed her cat test easily and seemed like she already knew that cats have claws and refused to go near the kitty. She is also fine with small dogs. Gaby is very sweet and will sit and lean up against the front of your legs for attention. She is a waggy, happy girl that doesn't seem fazed by anything new so seems like she will do well very fast with her new family. She is very loving and just loves to be close to her humans. She did like the small kids she met briefly but has not been around small kids long term yet. She can complain a bit about being in her kennel, so probably wouldn't be a good apartment dog. Gaby is adapting very well to her foster home and is such a beautiful sweet girl! Gaby was adopted by the Reich family 4/18/18. She was renamed Ginger. Her time with them was too short. She crossed the bridge in 2019. |

Girl Friend is a cute red girl with a little black on her nose and cute floppy ears that flop toward the front. Pay no attention to her racing name- Crazy Girl - there is nothing crazy about her. She is actually very friendly and sweet. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and her dam is Fast and Furious. She raced at 64lbs and celebrated her 2nd birthday on May 28th. Girl Friend has 28 races to her credit - 1 win and quite a few placements. She raced at Sarasota and retired from Sanford Orlando. She travels well. She was good with the cats, small dog, ferret and two children in her first foster home, and equally peaceful with the dominant dogs in her second foster home. She is very affectionate and loves attention, always choosing to be with her humans no matter what is going on around her. She will crate and rest quietly at night or when left alone, but she would prefer to be out and about with her pack. Girl is smart and learns quickly so it is important that her family supervises her and teaches her what they want her to do rather than just letting her make up her own rules. She loves to play and would love a home with a fenced yard that she can run and play in. Girlfriend was adopted by her foster family and renamed Mazy. She lived a happy life with them until she passed away 1/1/19 |

Bright raced at Orange Park in Florida for a few races but wasn't able to win any so she was moved to a lower end track, Jefferson County Kennel Club, in Feb of 2008. She was only able to win one race there so was retired after only 17 races. We got her from the track in March of 2008 when she was two. She was born July 13 of 2005. Her sire is Deuces Wild and her dam is Susans Starlite. Bright was a timid girl and was returned a couple of times. Eventually her foster mom decided to just keep her. She lost her at 14 years old in 2019. |

Mac is an extra large, loving greyhound that raced at a huge 84lbs and is well over 90lbs now. During his time at Orange Park track adoption kennel (GPA of NE Florida) he was a kennel favorite. His sire is the famous Kiowa Sweet Trey so he is a half brother to a bunch of the dogs we have placed. His dad seems to throw extra sweet pups and Mac is a twin to another big guy that we already placed. He was born on March 21st of 2009 so he is 4 years old. This boy is a happy, loving guy that loves everyone he meets. He seems like a fun guy that bounces happily when he meets you but so far has crated quietly so can be calm and lazy too. He is food motivated so should be easy to train to do tricks or obedience. Mac is a big lovable guy that is going to make a great pet. He is cat and small dog friendly so could live with either. Mac has been in an adoptive home for over a year now and was returned to us because they had a child and no longer had time for a dog. He is wonderful with kids and should be an easy pre acclimated pet for some lucky family. He was returned to us very overweight so we are working on getting some weight off of him. The photos we have of him are ones when he first retired and was in great shape. Mac was adopted by his foster family 11/21/14. He lived with the Hayes family and helped take care of baby squirrels and other wildlife they rehabbed. He was a very special guy. He passed away in 2019. He will be missed. |

Vulcan is a dark brindle male greyhound that initially came in from the Birmingham Race Track. He also raced very briefly at Palm Beach and Ebro tracks in Florida. He only had a total of 14 races and only won one of those. He didn't place in any of his other races and usually finished last. His sire is Heart Rumble and his dam is BI's Owens Girl. Vulcan turned 3 on October 2nd. Vulcan was in a home since December of 2014 and did great there. Â Vulcan was returned to us because of a divorce and a move. His first owner was heartbroken to have to give him up. Vulcan was quickly adopted out again in November of 2015 but is being returned to us again because they don't have a fenced yard and they think he would enjoy running around more. Vulcan is so good with cats and small animals that he was living with an exotic animal rehabber and he was good with all the wild animals there. Rick is a friendly boy that is very well behaved and sweet. Neither of his previous homes have reported any behavior problems. Vulcan was adopted by his foster home in 2016 and crossed the bridge in July of 2019 after a bout with a tick disease caused an immune disorder that he wasn't able to survive. He was known by his family as BDE Best Dog Ever and was the heart dog of his owner Amy. Vulcan was a goofy, bouncy boy that loved people. Vulcan was found most Saturdays at the Greyhound Crossroads tent at the Augusta Market and wooed many potential adopters. Vulcan was a certified therapy dog. He was lost far too young, he turned 6 October 2nd of 2018. |

Harriet raced very briefly at Jefferson County Kennel Club and retired from there Nov 2nd of 2005 after 6 maiden races. She finished last in all but one of those and even quit running in one. Harriet's sire was WW Time Warp and her dam was Pure Fortress. She was born Nov 7th of 2003. Harriets was very shy and timid when we got her. She bit her first owner after he chased her and cornered her trying to catch her. He wanted her euthanized because of the bite, but we were able to save her and get her back. The Glymph family took her to foster and decided to keep her in 2006. She quickly got over her shyness and became a true Diva. Harriet's adoptive mom took her lure coursing and amateur racing and she was very good at that once she became more confident. She became a champion. She never bit anyone again and was the sweetest dog, even doing meet and greets. Harriet became queen of the Beach at our Annual Beach Bound Hounds vacation in Myrtle Beach in 2017 at nearly 14 years old. She passed away at 15. She was a diva and the sunshine of her mom's life. |

We placed both of her parents too and some of her littermates. She is a big girl that raced at 67lbs. Her DOB is Oct 16 2004. Quest was adopted in 2007 by the Schwenk family and lived a long happy life with them until she crossed the bridge in 2017 at 13 years old. |

Leap just arrived from a farm in Kansas. She is very young only a pup. She turned one year old in April of this year. She started training then but wasn't interested in chasing the lure so was petted out and never even completed her registration process and never got an official racing name. She came in as a special order for one of our families that saw her picture. Leap's sire is KC And All and her dam is PJ Take A Leap. Leap has a family already and is not available for adoption. Leap was adopted in July of 2015 and lived with her family until a sudden illness took her in August of 2019. She will be missed by her family and everyone that met her. |

Red Man retired from the Jefferson County Kennel Club Race Track. He was born April 29th of 2003 and is a tiny guy weighing only 63lbs. He has the most gorgeous red brindle coat that looks almost like mahogany. We also placed his dad Tame Game. His dam is Grand Dana. Redman raced 13 races and only won 2 of those. He came in last or toward the back in most of his races so was retired in March of 2005. He was placed with the Waters family of Greenville in June of 2005. He lived a very long life with them and passed away in November of 2018 at nearly 16 years old. His gentle, inquisitive soul will be very missed. By the time he passed away his coat had changed color from the bright red brindle to almost black with a white face. |

Joshua was a favorite of his racing owner and he has a great friendly personality that makes him stand out in a crowd of greyhounds. He was a fantastic racer too entering stakes races and winning AA races at a top level track. Just a great guy with personality and racing skill. He raced at Southland in Arkansas and Wheeling in WV and has 129 races listed. He raced at 78lbs and his DOB is Sept 14 2008. His sire is Flying Penske and his dam is Secrets Told. He is doing great in foster care and adjusting well to living in a house. He did great on his potty training He passed his cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live with either. He might be a good apartment dog since he potties on leash and is quiet in his crate. Be sure to look at his other pictures to see a really cute one that shows how sweet he is when he was telling his trainer at the track goodbye. Joshua was adopted 6/9/13 by the Cover family. He was renamed Goose and had a happy life with his family until he passed away in August of 2019. RIP Goose! |

Noble is a stunning large, white male with a black patches. He is very flashy, drop dead gorgeous and even trots with a prance. He weighs 85lbs and is an extra large guy. Noble is not a retired racer. He has been in a home since he was a puppy so has great house manners and is already home acclimated. If he does anything wrong all you have to do is say something and he will stop right away. He really wants to please people. Noble hasn't been out a lot and does get a little stressed in new situations with people he doesn't know. He is a bit timid and isn't initially as friendly as our more confident dogs and tends to stand back a bit at our meet and greets at PetSmart. He takes a day or two to really bond with new people but once formed that bond is very strong and he will follow his new owner around and ask for affection. Noble will quietly stand leaning against you or put his head in your lap for petting. He is very good with children.Noble was given to us to rehome because he was not getting along with a new male greyhound in the home. From what we have seen Noble is not a confident dog and can be uncomfortable with new dogs coming in to his home large or small. Although he lived with small dogs in his previous home and was fine with them, we would rather not put him in a home with small dogs. Noble does love to play with the other greyhounds and a wolfhound in his foster home and we have seen none of his previous behavior except if dogs he doesn't know run up and get in his face. His previous owner had quite a few dogs and felt that may have been part of the problem and thought he would do better in a home with fewer dogs where he would get more attention. Noble passed a recent cat test with very little interest so we think he may be trainable with indoor cats. Noble will need a home with a fenced yard because we haven't been able to get him to go potty on leash even one time during his walks. He just likes to trot around looking for that perfect spot and is much too polite to go while on leash. Noble likes to go for walks and travels very well. He is a really stunning guy that is already home acclimated and is going to make someone a very nice pet. Sam just retired from Derby Lane in Florida May 22nd. He had 118 races and was pretty good. He is a large boy that raced at 83lbs. His sire is the famous Kiowa Mon Manny and his dam is USS Top Dolly. We placed his littermate Missing You too. Sam will turn 4 on October 21st. He came in as a special order for one of our families that has been watching him race and waiting for him to retire so he is not available for adoption. Sam passed his cat test and his small dog test so is fine to live with either. He has been friendly with the children he has met. Sam is a bouncy, friendly boy. He is the rare greyhound that could be a watch dog. If he hears or see something outside that doesn't belong there he has a big deep growly bark. Sam was adopted by the Parker family and called Formal. He passed away Aug 11th, 2019 after a suspected brain tumor caused seizures that couldn't be controlled. He will be missed. |

Bo never raced. He was born on November 4th in 2005. Bo has had a long run of bad luck with adoptive homes. He was adopted out as a young dog and was in his first home for 4 years until 2011 when one of them started having trouble with a dog allergy. He was adopted out to another family in 2011 but was found running loose in April of 2014. His previous family didn't respond to attempts to contact them to see if they wanted their dog back so the family that found him decided to keep him. Bo has been whining a lot in that home and didn't appear to be happy, so now he is being rehomed again. His sire is the famous Fortified Power and his dam is M's Elizabeth. He just turned 9 on Nov 4th so qualifies for our reduced adoption fee of $200! Bo is a handsome boy that loves to be by your side. Bo absolutely loves children and slept in the bed with a 7 year old boy in one of his previous homes. He gets along well with other dogs small and large. Bo is a fun boy, and is constantly making his foster family laugh. Even though he is an older guy, he is still playful and loves to run around in the yard. After a very short run can usually be found laying on the couch or bed nearest his people. He is such a loving happy guy and so cute too! Bo seems like he has too high of a prey drive towards cats to be able to live with them but has been living with small dogs and is wonderful with them. Bo can be vocal if left alone so wouldn't be a good dog for an apartment or townhouse. If you want a dog that is already used to living in a home that loves kids, this is your guy! Bo ended up being adopted by his foster family. He lived a long life and passed away in July of 2019 at the age of 13. |

John Reese's litter were all named for Person of Interest TV show characters. John was an amazing racer, racing at one of the top tracks in the country and at the very top level AA. He even won a Stakes race which are limited to the very best racers at that track. We feel like we should ask him for his autograph because he was such a star. He raced 139 races mostly at the very top levels. John turned 4 on July 5th. His sire is Gable Dodge and his dam is O Jays. John was understandably a kennel favorite and is missed by his trainer. He has a wonderful, outgoing, curious personality. John is a big stocky, muscular guy that raced at 78lbs. He has put on a little weight since he retired and was 80lbs at the vet's. He loves people and will put his paws up to give hugs, which we discourage because of his size, even though it is cute. John is quiet and is being fostered in an apartment. He learned how to do the stairs and elevator there the first day and is not stressed by new things. He is very strong and excitable and pulls on leash, so his foster home is working on that. John is just so curious and wants to go see everything and greet everyone on walks, but is learning to control his enthusiasm.  John was initially very curious about the cat until the cat slapped him. He quickly decided not to go back near the cat. We think he is trainable, especially with a cat that would stand his ground and slap him if he shows any interest at all. Because John is big, strong and excitable we have him marked "older children" only. We don't think he would intentionally harm a kid, but he could accidentally knock down a toddler by jumping on him or excitedly bumping into him. John would probably love to play with older kids though. Even though he is higher energy for a greyhound, he still is good when left home alone and just plays quietly with his toys, has no potty accidents and isn't destructive. He is very smart and learned in a day how to work lever type door handles in the house. John loves to chase a squeaker tennis ball and a few minutes in the morning and evening playing with the ball helps wear him out. This would be a wonderful greyhound for agility, obedience or other dog sports since he isn't the typical couch potato. He would love hiking and doing things with his family. John is a handsome, loving guy that is full of personality that is going to make a fun pet for a lucky family. Johnny was adopted by the Marks family in October of 2015. He had a wonderful life and was very loved until he passed away suddenly of unknown causes on 6/24/19. John is a pretty large guy that raced at 78lbs but has put on a little weight since he retired and is very large.

Nut is a white and red boy that raced at 74lbs. He had 44 races and was very good. He even raced in some stakes races. He raced his entire career at Orange Park in Florida. His sire is Kelsos Fusileer and his dam is Steffie's Mandy. Nut just turned 2 on Dec 8th. He is a friendly happy guy that loves everyone he meets. He passed his cat and small dog tests easily and has done great with the kids he met too. Nut was adopted in February of 2014 by the Griffin Flanders family of Augusta GA. They called him Chase and he had a wonderful life with his greyhound buddy Tory. He crossed the bridge June 17th 2019. RIP Chase. |

Anna just arrived from the Sanford Orlando race track. She raced 67 races there and at Orange Park in Jacksonville FL. Anna broke her right hock in a race on May 12th. She is expected to make a good recovery but is on veterinary hold until she comes out of her splint and is cleared by our vet to be adopted. Anna is a beautiful nearly black girl with just a few orange stripes. Very striking and unusual. She raced at 67lbs. Her sire is Count Ivan and her dam is Zam Solar Limit. She turned 3 on February 2nd. Anna passed her cat and small dog test so should be fine to live with either. She also has done well with the kids she met. Anna had a wonderful life racing then had 5 wonderful years with her family in retirement. She had what her neurologist believed to be a stroke on May 30th of 2019 and was completely paralyzed. She was not able to recover from the stroke and crossed the bridge June 5th of 2019 in her mom's arms. You will be missed Anna Banana. |

Hope is a tiny little girl with the prettiest dark, red brindle coat. Her birthday is April 20th 2006. She is just a bit shy and unsure of herself at first mainly just around men but warms up fast. Hope never raced because she would not chase the lure and would just stop in the middle of the track during training. She tested cat and small dog safe and was even a bit afraid of the cats so would be fine living with either. Hope has been in an adoptive home since she was just 18 months old. When Hope's owner had to go into a nursing home, one of her caregivers took Hope temporarily but eventually we had to find her a permanent home. She lived with another older female greyhound in her previous home and seems to get along well with others. Hope is already home acclimated and is a sweet, well behaved girl. She crates well and likes to go there during thunderstorms which scare her. Some of the photos of Hope were taken when she was 18 months old when she first retired from the track but she looks nearly the same now. There are a couple of recent full length photos of her under her other photos - the one of her stretching and the photo of her with the lab. This is a cute sweet girl that is already house trained and used to living in a home. She grins when she is happy to see you and will lay at your feet and make little moaning noises to get your attention - mainly if no one is petting her. She is such a cute girl with the sweetest personality! Hope was with the Lindenfeld family until she passed away from Bone Cancer on May 31st of 2019 at 13 years old. She will be missed. |

I Run To You is a 75lb brindle male that is coming to us from the Melbourne Adoption kennel but he actually raced at Tri-State in WV and most recently at Sanford Orlando in FL. He raced 44 races but only won 3 of those. He got a lot of 2nds though. Since he wasn't really good his racing career was short. He will turn 3 on April 25th. His sire is Iruska All Star and his dam is Iruska Promise. He passed his cat and small dog tests at the track so should be fine to live with either. He is described as pretty calm dog but not a total couch potato. Generally good on leash and pretty friendly. Approaching people for affection and love but in a calm way. More as we get to know him. Run was with his family until he crossed the bridge in May of 2019. RIP Run. |

Dezzie was not actually placed through our group, but one of our volunteers owned her as a racer from the time she was a tiny pup. She only raced 12 races and only won one of those. Dezzie normally came in toward the back of the pack. She raced at Palm Beach and Sanford Orlando. When she retired she was sent up to her racing owner in NC to be her pet. Dezzie's sire was the famous Kiowa Mon Manny and her dam was Skiddy Belle. She was born on June 27th of 2014. She was a happy friendly girl that made an impact on everyone she met. In June of 2018 she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that paralyzed her overnight. She was in ICU for 10 days and spent months recovering. She was a fighter and bounced back. You would never have known she was sick and her family called her their "Miracle Girl". She did have to continue taking meds to keep it under control but they stopped working in May of 2019 and she had a flare up that she couldn't recover from. She passed away on May 28th 2019 just shy of her 5th birthday. Her family says the house is so empty without her. |

Lancelot is a gorgeous big shiny black male that raced at 82 lbs. He just came in from the Birmingham Adoption Kennel but didn't actually race there. He was sent there because they transport dogs to adoption groups across the country. He actually raced 132 races mostly at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He also raced briefly at Palm Beach in FL. He raced most of his career at the mid levels of racing but did get up to the top A level a few times and did win some races. He retired February 12th and has been waiting since then for a group to take him. His sire is Turbo Lennie and his dam is Gable India. Lancelot was way too interested in chasing cats to be able to live with them, but he did fine with a small Italian greyhound he met after sniffing it and realizing it was a dog. He should be fine to live with small dogs with a proper introduction. At a distance he tends to mistake most small critters for bunnies though. Lancelot is a big strong boy that needs some work on walking on leash because he wants to check out everything at once. He is very friendly and happy and just a sweet, confident, social guy. Because he is so big and strong we think he would do best in a home with no small kids that he could accidentally knock over. Lancelot could be your knight in shining, black, furry armor! What a gorgeous guy! Lancelot had to have emergency surgery May16th of 2019. He came through the surgery fine and was sent home. He passed away at home in his sleep the night after his surgery. He was so young and only was with his family a year. He will greatly be missed. |
