Muppet retired after 153 races and raced at 65lbs, She retired due to a broken leg and has been on a medical hold for awhile but seems like she has recovered nicely and has what we hope will be her final vet visit this week. She is expected to make a full recovery and didn't require surgery on her leg, just splinting. Muppet's sire is Maryville Rumble and her Dam is Our Sandy. Her birthday is April 7th. Muppet has not been cat or small dog tested yet. She is a sweet girl that is mostly blue without a lot of brindling. While she was recuperating from her broken leg she had to spend a lot of time in her crate and did well there. She does make noise when you first come home though. Muppet was adopted and lived a great life. Sadly she left us too soon due to bloat on June 11th of 2016 at just 7 years old. She is missed very much. |

Otto is one of 4 pups we got from an unplanned litter of greyhound puppies that couldn't be raced. He is outgoing and energetic and very sweet. His mom, Sara, was available for adoption too. Congratulations to the Clark family of Simpsonville on their new puppy! He was born on January 6, 2010. Update after adoption: Otto has been a wonderful puppy! He gets together to play with his littermate Miles a couple of times a week. Recently all of the littermates got together with their mother to run and play. The boys grew up to be very tall good looking guys that are happy and very well behaved. Sadly Otto got bone cancer a few months before his 6th birthday and passed away due to the cancer in June of 2016 when he was six and a half years old. His life was much too short and his owners, the Clark's, miss him very much. |

Favorite is gorgeous! Tall, dark and handsome with a shiny, black coat. He raced at 77lbs and retired from the Orlando Track. Favorite's birthday is 10/1/09 so he is young, just 2 years old. He is happy, playful, friendly and loves everyone he meets. He didn't pass his first cat test but did pass his second. He does respond to correction so we think he will be trainable with cats and we will be glad to introduce him to your specific cat since he had mixed results with his first two tests. He was fine living with a small Italian Greyhound in his foster home and seems like the type that will get along well with other dogs male or female. He was too interested in chasing a fuzzy pomerianian he met though so my not do well with very small fuzzy dogs. Favorite has discovered toys and loves to play with them - maybe a little too much sometimes. He seems like a fun guy that will be an easy first or 4th greyhound. Favorite was sired by Tony's Oracle. He pulls on leash when excited and needs reminders sometimes. Favorite was renamed Fazio and had a wonderful but too short life with his new family. He passed away at 6 years old in June of 2016 from Alabama Rot. Rest in Peace Fazio! |

Blue is a rare blue, relatively large male greyhound. He is a beautiful, deep gray color with a gorgeous blaze of white on his chest. Blue is a wonderful boy and will make someone a great pet. He is well-accustomed to living in a house and has not had a single accident in his foster home. He shows no interest in chewing on things and only shows passing interest in tempting items on a countertop or table. Blue listens very well to his humans and quickly responds to a firm "NO!" as well as a happy "let's go" or "come along, Blue". Blue loves people! He wants to wrap his body around everyone who approaches him and seems to think that everyone wants to approach and pet him. He has that fantastic greyhound personality that loves and wants to be around people but is not needy and readily goes to his bed when his foster mom is busy. Blue loves to bury his head in people's laps and hug them with his body for attention and petting. This is really a wonderful boy! Blue does great on a leash and loves going on walks. He is nervous when walking around traffic but does not panic. He has been nervous traveling in a car in the past, but is doing better at that now. Although he still seems a little nervous in a car, he is now asks to go in the car and is doing much better riding in a car. Blue has had an unusual life for an ex-racing greyhound. After a short period on the Palm Beach Race Track, he was, unfortunately, in a hoarding house for a few years with around 40 other dogs and cats. He has a lot of scars from living with all the other dogs so we think he was picked on. Although he is not aggressive with other dogs approaching him, he can be very defensive if another dog starts something. Because of this, we think that Blue will do best in a home without small children or other dogs. If you are interested in Blue, let us know and we will tell you all about his background. Blue is a wonderful, happy boy who bounces a little with happiness and then quickly settles down for hugs and petting. He will be a wonderful addition for the lucky family that chooses him. Blue was adopted and returned several times after we got him in addition to the times he had been adopted and returned to the initial group that placed him. Blue's foster mom decided that Blue was just meant to stay with her and adopted him in August of 2014. Blue was with her for nearly 2 wonderful years, before he passed away in June of 2016. Rest in Peace Blue! We are sorry the rest of your life wasn't as good as the last 2 years. |

Ethan is a tiny white boy with black spots that was born May 6th of 2003. He only weighs 60lbs. His sire is Cajun Deception and his dam is Tx's Wishimay. He was retired very young, before he was 2, because he didn't show much promise as a racer. He had no official races. Ethan was shy at first with new people and in new situations but was very friendly and happy once he was comfortable. He crated quietly and passed his cat and small dog test easily with no interest. Even though he retired young, he was very calm and well behaved. He was adopted by the Wyatt family and lived a long happy life with them. He passed away after a long illness in June of 2016 at 13 years old. His owners described him as "A beautiful angel". |

Dugan came in from the Sanford Orlando Race Track but also raced at Palm Beach in Florida, Wheeling in WV and Corpus Christy in Texas. He raced until January of 2009 and raced 120 races races. He was very good getting up to AA level quickly while in Corpus but when he was moved to other tracks he didn't do quite as well. He still raced for a long time. He raced at 71lbs and was 4 years old when he came to our adoption group. Dugan was born on November 24th of 2004. He passed his cat and small dog tests easily. Dugan was a very outgoing happy boy. Dugan is a handsome black boy that has the tip of one ear missing. We are guessing one of his littermates got it when playing as a puppy. When he arrived he was very fascinated by the handsome boy in the mirror and would kiss the other dog standing there. Dugan's sire was Clappin Thunder and his dam was FMC Lotsofheart. Dugan had a wonderful life with the McManis family of Easley and was a wonderful boy. He was their first of several greyhounds for them and he had several cats he lived with too. Dugan even helped foster other greyhounds for Greyhound Crossroads. He passed away suddenly in June of 2016. RIP Dugan! |

Fury is a recent Economy Return. Fury was returned for financial reasons a couple of years ago too but bad luck has struck this older gentleman again. Fury is a great pet and already home acclimated and the returns had nothing to do with his behavior because he couldn't be more perfect. Fury is a son of the very famous Fortress and is a gorgeous, tall, red, 10 year old guy. He was quite the racer and won many races and was a real star back in the day. He was his racing owner's favorite dog and his best racer. Those days are over though and Fury prefers lounging on the the couch or bed now and doesn't do much running around anymore. He is very laid back, calm and well behaved. Fury passed his cat test and has been living with a small dog in his foster home and is very good with him. We think Fury would do best in a home with other dogs to hang out with. He has never been an only dog before and enjoys the company of others. Fury has been checked out by our vet, received a dental and is healthy and ready for his new home. Fury had to have all but two of his teeth removed when we got him back because of painful infection and rotten teeth so he will need his food softened. But on the bright side he won't need his teeth brushed or expensive dentals! Because Fury is over 8 years old he qualifies for our reduced adoption fee of $200. Thanks to CrazyCollars for donating another $75 towards Fury's adoption fee which brings his total adoption fee to only $125! Fury passed away in 2016 |

Broadford is a gorgeous red girl that raced at 68lbs. Her birthday is June 8th and she is another daughter of the famous Dodgem By Design. She retired a little over a month ago and has been good from the start in her foster home. It is almost like she has lived in a home at some point before. She seems like a calm, laid back girl that loves her dog beds and attention from people the most. Broadford is a friendly, happy girl. So far she has done great with a number of other dogs in the home of different breeds and even a small Italian Greyhound. She passed her cat and small dog test without interest in either so should be good in a home with either. She will play bow and pounce down into almost a down and try to get you to play with her. She is so cute and sweet. She can hold it for a long time in the crate and really tries to stay clean. She potties on leash so may be OK without a fenced yard. Brandy was a wonderful girl and was very happy in her home until she passed away on June 24th of 2016 from Bone Cancer. |

Polo boy has no races listed. His sire is WW Apple Jax and his dam is Tycam Amstel. DOB 9/9/05. Polo boy has been a dream foster. Perfectly behaved in every way. Walks great on leash, picked up potty training quickly, great house manners from the start and very friendly and loving to everyone. His foster mom described him as a "Walmart Greeter" and says he greets everyone they meet on their walks like a long lost relative. His littermate is a therapy dog and Polo Boy would probably be an excellent candidate for that because of his easy going, tolerant personality. He is very good with the cat in his foster home and didn't even pay attention to a very small dog that tried to attack him on a walk. As perfect as Polo boy is he does have one problem. He arrived with a very small tumor on his foot. It was removed but is cancer and is likely to grow back in the next year. This isn't a type of cancer that is very painful or likely to move to other organs and kill him. It can be removed again when it comes back but each time it is removed it will harm more and more of his foot until he is likely to have to have his leg amputated. At this point he is not in any pain and has full use of his leg and foot so our vet has advised us not to amputate and let him keep the leg as long as he can. There is a chance that extensive radiation could slow the cancer down or stop it completely but that would be very expensive and the odds of it being successful aren't that good. Polo boy is looking for a special home that wants an almost perfect dog and won't mind if he ends up being a 3 legged dog at some point in the future. Amputations are pretty expensive and his family will need to be as sure as possible that they will be able to afford it when the time comes. Polo's adoption is being handled in a different way to help potential adopters with future medical treatment. If you are interested in helping this special boy, please contact GC Director Kim Owens. Polo Boy was renamed Brodie and was happy with his family until he passed away in May 28th of 2016. |

Kohle is one of the rare greyhound puppies that became available because of an accidental breeding of two greyhounds. We received 4 pups from this litter along with their mother Sara (Sarandon). Greyhound puppies are rarely available because most pups are bred for racing and are not available for sale or adoption to the public until after their racing careers are over. Greyhound puppies are much different than the typical laid back calm adult greyhound. Pups are like puppies of other breeds - hyperactive, destructive and need constant supervision. We don't recommend them for the average busy family. Update after adoption: Kohle has grown up to be a tall, well behaved, young greyhound. He still gets together occasionally to play with his littermates. He also encourages greyhound adoption at Greyhound Crossroads events. His owner does wildlife rehab and he is always good with the squirrels, bunnies and other critters that come in his home. Kohle passed away suddenly in April of 2016 of Cancer at 6 years old. |

Rumble was a good racer that raced 183 races at Derby Lane in Florida. She got up to racing at the top A level. She retired from racing in August of 2011 and then went back to the farm in Kansas to become a mom. She had 3 puppies in her first litter in 2012 that are now racing. Rumble is a beautiful red brindle that raced at 61lbs. Her birthday is October 13th. We also placed her mom Wheelie Cool who was a very sweet girl. Her Sire is Maryville Rumble. Rumble is retired from racing and being a mom now and ready to start her new career holding down a couch cushion at your house. Her trainer said she was a joy to have in his kennel, calm, well behaved, sweet girl. Rumble tested heartworm postive at our vets and had successful heartworm treatment. She has tested negative for heartworms and is ready to be adopted now. She has been fostered with cats and small dogs so should do well in a home with either. Rumble passed away in May of 2016 of osteosarcoma. She was a wonderful girl that is missed very much by her family. |

Annika came in from the Jacksonville Race Track. She was a very successful racer and raced more than 240 races. It is pretty unusual for a racer to continue racing well into their 5th year and she turned 5 on June 2nd. DOB June 5, 2007. Annika was still running OK and making money for her trainer, but they chose to go ahead and retire her so she could get her own family and couch. She is a beautiful, muscular girl that is very short but stocky and raced at 58lbs. She is calm but very friendly and seems to have an excellent personality and is just gorgeous. Her sire is the famous Lonesome Cry and her dam is GS Gladice. Annika was a special order for one of our families that met her at the race track and has been waiting on her to retire. She is very well-behaved as a foster in their home, and is very good with their baby and even guinea pigs. She will be staying! Annika passed away on March 24th of 2016 from Acute Leptospirosis brought into her yard by a wild animal. Both greyhounds in the family were infected with it, but by the time the vet figured out what it was, Annika was already gone. We are hoping her brother Clyde makes a full recovery. |

Kara is a cute happy little girl that raced at Dairyland and then JCKC in FL briefly. She wasn't a good racer because she had contracted a tick disease and was weak and too thin as a result. We found the tick disease after she was retired and came to us. Her sire is Gable Dodge and her dam is Pride of Iowa. Kara was successfully treated for her tick disease and once she was feeling better showed that she has an exceptionally high prey drive to all other animals large and small. When she was sick she didn't care about chasing anything. Kara is well behaved and tries to please though. Kara has quickly learned house manners and has done well with potty training. She is very devoted to her family. She is pretty outgoing with most people and even more so once she knows you. Kara is so happy and waggy that she injured her tail wagging it and had to have it cropped three times before we finally docked it short enough that she couldn't hit anything with it and re-injure it. Now she has a happily wagging tail stub. It really suits her, though, and couldn't be any cuter. Even though Kara has an exceptional prey drive she has been able to be trained to live with a small dog and cats in her foster home with a lot of work and supervision. She would do better in a home with either no other animals or just other greyhounds. She needs careful introductions to any animal other than a greyhound and is gradually learning that she is not supposed to chase everything. Each new animal is a new experience for her though. She walks great on leash and potties great on leash. She has been very quiet in her crate in her foster home but when she was in a kennel situation she was pretty loud and would excitedly bark whenever a person came close to get their attention. We are unsure whether she would be OK in an apartment. Update on Kara. She was eventually able to be placed with a small lab and they were best friends until she passed away. Kara died much too young at 6 years old of a fast growing cancerous tumor on her skin.

Achilles raced 75 races in Palm Beach and at Wonderland race tracks. He got up to A level and competed in a Stakes race so was pretty good. His sire is the famous Gable Dodge and his dam is Anti Pasto. He was born on Feb 16th 2004. He lived with the Mickey family, their cats and other greyhounds and crossed the bridge in March of 2016 at 12 years old. He was a big 85lb boy with an even bigger personality. He will be missed. |

He was injured in his last race and didn't finish it so was retired. His sire is the famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and his dam is Kiowa Park Cari. He is a large male racing at 78lbs. He is very friendly and sweet. He lived with the Mickey family and several other greyhounds until he was 13 and crossed the bridge in late 2015. |

Pat the Hammer just arrived. We are really excited and surprised to get this famous racer as a pet. It is rare that a dog that raced this well is available as a pet without a long career as a stud dog first. This is a great guy that has quite the history of winning races including more than one Stakes Race. Wish he could give us his autograph. Pat is a very outgoing loving guy. He loves to put his head on you and just stare up into your eyes. He will rub his head on you every chance he gets. He is a great guy that was so well behaved when he arrived it was as if he had already lived in a home. He loves children and shows no prey drive toward cats or small dogs so should be able to live with either. This a great guy that is confident without being pushy and is so so sweet! You can tell that he is used to being admired and treated like the elite racer that he is. He just LOVES people but seems to get along with other dogs just fine too. Congratulations to the Pat's foster family! He is going to be staying with them permanently. This guy was a prize that they just couldn't let go. We lost Pat to Osteosarcoma (Bone cancer) in October of 2015 |

Annie raced 56 races at Tampa and Derby Lane race tracks. After her race career ended she went back to live on her racing owners farm as a pet with two of her sisters. Due to the failing health of one of her owners they were forced to send some of their former racers into adoption in 2008 and we got Annie and her sisters Katie and Blondie and a few of their other dogs. Annie's Sire is Be Discrete and her dam is M's Ingrid. She was born on November 21 2004. Annie was just a little bit timid at first with new people but loved her family and her friends very much. She had separation anxiety so her family quickly added another girl dog so she had company. Annie loved her sister, they would sleep together and Annie would keep her in line when she got too wild. Annie was always a good dog and almost never did anything wrong. She had such a gentle soul and was so loving. She was very calm except when her family came home, then she would jump and bounce and wag so hard she would injure her tail. She eventually ended up losing her tail because of the injuries she caused wagging it against things so hard. Annie was taken suddenly by a tumor in her abdomen in March of 2016 just a couple of months after her adopted sister Raccoon passed away. She was loved and will be missed by her family and everyone that knew her. |

Bennett is a dignified older gentleman in the rare position that we know very little about him. At the grand age he has reached, he very much deserves to have that special place to call home where he is safe and loved. Bennett is ready to follow you home! Update from his foster home! He is a perfect gentleman, never having an accident inside and living peacefully with all the other residents in his foster home including small dogs. He also is very tolerant of all cats he has met and seems to be drawn to children. He adores having his throat rubbed and will patiently stand with his head raised as long as the attention continues. If his humans are seated he gently places his head in their lap. Even though he is farther along in age than most of our dogs, Bennett is very spry and active and still loves to run and play. Bennett especially enjoys walks in the neighborhood and wants a family that will do that with him. They don't have to be long, just a short walk makes him very very happy. He never meets a stranger and everyone lucky enough to give him a rub falls in love! Let's help this precious older fella find the perfect home to spend the rest of his retirement in peace and safety. He has been chosen by our members for special gifts and support, reducing his adoption fee to $200. Update after adoption: Sawyers foster family decided to keep him. They had already decided to adopt him when he was diagnosed with cancer. They did the adoption paperwork that day to make it official that he had a home for the rest of his life. Sadly he lived just a few more months and crossed the rainbow bridge. |

Richard retired from the Birmingham AL race track after only 7 races. His sire is the famous Dodgem By Design and his dam is Oakland Dawn. Richard is a very small male racing at only 63lbs. He was born on 9/23/06. Richard has been living in a condo foster home so would make a great apartment dog. He is very quiet and potties well on leash. Richard is cat, small dog and child friendly and should do well in most any situation. He is such a sweet guy that prefers to follow his humans around and be near them. |

Baby is a girl we met at a visit to the track and fell in love with because of her happy personality and her full body wag that she does when meeting new people. Every stranger is a potential new friend for her. They called her Vanna but also called her Baby a lot of the time and she seems to answer even better to that. We have been waiting on her to retire for a for awhile. She was a good racer that raced a long time. Baby was considered a "pet" in her racing kennel and was given extra attention and her trainer calls us regularily to check in on her and see how she is doing. She is a red fawn with a white chest and feet and very pretty. Baby is 60lbs and her date of birth is Aug 1 2008. She passed her cat test so could live in a home with cats. She is a littermate to Betta Recognize that we placed years ago and KnockemoutGeorge that we just placed. Baby's sire is Dodgem By Design and her dam is Sky Robber. We have adopted out lots of Dodgem By Design pups that are her half sibs and we expect her to be a wonderful pet like they have been. Baby crates well and keeps her crate totally clean. She did make some noise in her crate at first but has quieted down a lot now. We aren't sure if she would be quiet enough to live in an apartment or townhouse though. She will need a home with a fenced yard because she hasn't gone potty on leash very often and prefers to trot around on her own looking for the perfect place. Part of the problem with going potty on leash is that she will just stand next to you gazing up at you with love waiting for petting rather than sniffing around. She is THAT sweet and loving! This gal has a LOT of personality and seems like she will be a fun, devoted, playful pet. She has done great with her potty training and house rules and seems like she will be an easy, well behaved girl. She has been great with the children she has met at our events and goes right up to them with her tail wagging. She actually goes up to everyone happily wanting attention. A very outgoing little girl! So SWEET! |

Hi my name is Ty. I am available for adoption because of the economy. I was a very good pet and my family wanted to keep me but were forced to put me up for adoption because of a job loss and having no place to move with a dog. I am already used to living in a home and I have great house manners. I have lived with children before and really love them. Noisy crying babies freak me out a little though so I would prefer to live with kids that are toddler age or older. I used to attend meet and greets to promote greyhound adoption so am a greyhound ambassador. I am very friendly and outgoing and was great at my job. I love to go for walks and will potty on leash so will be fine without a fenced yard. I lived in an apartment with my previous family so would be quiet enough for apartment living. I am looking for a family that wants a mature lady with manners to share their life with. I am a playful, fun girl that still loves to play and gets along well with other dogs of all kinds. Because of my age I have been selected for a reduced adoption fee of $200! Link to her pedigree |

Wingsy is nearly all white except for a tiny patch over one eye and spots on both ears. She was a very valuable, high dollar, greyhound with great breeding from a very successful racing litter. She was retired young to produce more pups like her and sold at auction for $22,000. She had a litter of 7 pups in 2006 but had some problems having another litter this year so will not be able to have any more pups. She was retired from the brood farm as soon as her one surviving pup was old enough to leave his mom. Now she is ready to be a pet. She is still a young girl at only 4 years old. Wingsy is friendly, sweet, happy and like many dogs that have raised pups seems to be wise beyond her years. She seems to get along with other dogs, male and female of all sizes but like most former mama dogs is likely to to try to keep other dogs in her home in line. She potties well on leash and is quiet in her crate so may be OK in an apartment or townhouse. She loves to go for rides and travels well. She is going to make a great pet. Wingsy was adopted and renamed Wendy. When her last pup retired he went to live at her house. She lived a long life and passed away at 12.5 years old due to Lymphoma. |

Samson is an older guy that has been in a home since 2009. He is a huge guy that towers over most other greyhounds and weighs close to 100lbs but could stand to lose a few lbs. We don't have a lot of information about his past or his racing name. He will celebrate his 9th birthday in May though. Samson was returned with his 10-year-old housemate Delilah to the Birmingham Race Track Adoption Kennel. She is still available in Birmingham and arrangements could be made to bring her here too if a family were interested in adopting both together. They were returned due to a family situation and not because of a problem with the dogs. Samson did not pass his cat test but was good with the small dogs in his foster home. He is a calm, sweet, gentle giant. Because he is an older guy he qualifies for our reduced adoption fee of $200. Samson arrived with a slight limp that got worse in the next two weeks. He was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer. His foster mom decided to just adopt him and love him for the time he has left. |

Rockstar raced at Raynham/Taunton and Wonderland tracks in Mass. He raced 25 races and only won 1 race. We got him from Orlando where he was moved but he didn't have any races we could find there. Rockstar raced at 73lbs and will turn 2 on July 9th. His sire is Craigie Whistler and his dam is Kelsos Jetski. He settled into foster care very well. He is a smart boy that loves walks and is excellent on leash. He is good with other dogs of all sizes and loves to play. He is quiet in his crate and learning to do stairs. His one flaw is counter surfing which we are working on. |

Pixie is a tiny older girl that raced at 56lbs and was a very thin 52lbs when she arrived. She is one of the oldest dogs we have ever taken in and will turn 13 on August 11th. Pixie's family originally adopted her from another group out of the area. They are moving now and are unable to take her with them. She was very fragile and had a constant tremor that made her whole body shake when she was on her feet. Pixie also has a bad limp. We had it x-rayed and it appears to be the result of arthritis in an old injury. Our vet noticed that she was being given 4 times the pain medication she should have been getting. That big of a dose was causing a lot of the trembling and by putting her back on the correct dose a lot of her shaking has gone away and she is able to run and play a little now and is much less fragile in just a couple of weeks. She did have a bad fall down some stairs a few years ago and that was when she started the medication and probably why she limps. Pixie's blood work looked good for a girl her age and she even has good teeth. She is on inexpensive thyroid medication and her levels are perfect. As of her last vet check she has gained 3 lbs and looks much better than when she arrived. Our vet is very pleased with her progress and has cleared her for adoption. Pixie is a very calm, laid back, girl, that seems friendly and good natured. She lets complete strangers lift her in and out of vehicles and just stood there when the vet drew blood without yelping or flinching. She has lived with cats and small dogs and is good with them. Back in her day Pixie was a star racer and won top A level races and even competed in special stakes races. She raced most of her career at Daytona Beach but also raced a few races in Wichita. Pixie has 130 races to her credit. She was retired to be a brood mom and had one litter of 7 puppies in April of 2006 before becoming a pet. Her sire is Quiet Traveler and her dam is Shoot Fortheloot. This is a super sweet girl that is looking for a family that will love her for the rest of her life. Because Pixie is a senior she qualifies for a reduced adoption fee and some generous donors have offered to help with that. |

Poser just arrived from the Birmingham race track he also race briefly at Orange Park in Jacksonville Fl. He only raced 19 races and placed some but never won any of them. He is a pretty white male with black spots he is a mid sized guy racing at just 69lbs. Poser's sire is Djays Octane and his dam is WW Breeze Aimee. He just turned 2 on December 10th and still is pretty puppyish. He is very friendly and happy boy and still somewhat energetic for a greyhound due to being so young. Poser is curious about cats and small dogs but responds well to correction and did quickly lose interest, so we think he would be able to live with them with supervision at first. He did great with the kids he met at a home show too. |

Durango was found wandering loose and was brought to the Birmingham Race Track's adoption kennel. It took them awhile to figure out who he was and where he came from because his identifying ear tattoos were badly faded. He was identified eventually as EZ Durango. He had raced 25 races starting at Seabrook then moving to Birmingham AL. He retired from there and was adopted in 2004. His mom had been deployed and had left him with relatives. He had run away from the relatives house and had been missing for a year and a half. Another family found him, took him in and kept him until his most recent escape. His original owner was contacted and is still deployed in another country. Her relatives are unwilling to take him back. Durango just turned 13 on Nov 5th. His sire is Oneco Wiseman and his dam is Good Storm. He raced at 68lbs but is on the thin side now so is a smaller guy. Durango came in with a small tumor that needed to be removed and was under weight but other than that the vet said he was remarkably healthy for a guy his age. He loves children and passed his cat and small dog tests there. The really good news is that he has a wonderful home to go to already as soon as he arrived on Nov 14th. |

Raven is a tiny girl that raced at 55lbs. She is a mostly white girl with just a few black spots and some ticking (freckles). She only raced 21 races at Sanford Orlando race track before she retired because of a split webbing between her toes. She only won one of those races. Her sire is Premier Fantasy and her dam is JD She Rappin. Raven turned 2 on August 27th. According to the people at the track that know her Raven is pretty social and goes up to some people but not everyone so she can be just a little timid at first. She is a very calm girl. Raven has been friendly so far and very social with us following us around. Seems like she will be a very nice calm girl. She did fine with the small dog she met and was very calm with him. Only a few days after being adopted, Raven got out of her family's fenced backyard. She was hit by a car within seconds of her escape and died instantly. She was loved and will be missed. |

JD just arrived from the Sanford Orlando Race track. He raced 85 races there and in Dubuque IA. He wasn't a good racer and only won 4 races in his entire career. His race weight is 75lbs so he is a mid sized guy. His sire is Surf Lorian and his dam is JD Delusion. He will turn 3 on October 15th and hopes to celebrate his birthday with his new family. He is a very, happy, outgoing guy that loves people and loves attention. He is a more active guy that pulls some on the leash excited to see everything around him. He also gives hugs which we are working on correcting. He has been really good in his foster home so far and is quiet in his crate. Seems like a great guy and is very very cute. JD was adopted by the Tucker family in 2014 and renamed Oscar. He lived a happy life until he suddenly became paralyzed not long after his 5th birthday in 2016. His vet and specialists were unable to find the cause of the mystery illness and he passed away in November of 2016. |

Nan is an older girl that we placed years ago. Sadly her owner just passed away so she needs a new home at 9 years old. She is a smaller female that raced at just 58lbs. Her sire is Epic Prince and her dam is D's Nother Star. She just turned 9 on March 6th. Nan is a sweet calm girl that is well behaved and doing well in foster home. This one comes pre trained! Because she is a bit older Nan qualifies for a reduced adoption fee of $200. She is sweet and loving and waiting on a home. |

Worry is not really a worrier she was just named after her mom. She is a sweet girl that is calm and friendly. She just turned 2 on January 8th. Her sire is Kelsos Fusileer and her dam is Pat C O'Anxious. She is a pretty red brindle girl that walks nicely on leash. She raced at 62lbs and raced at Palm Beach, Sarasota and most recently Sanford Orlando. She is being fostered with a small white dog and is fine with him. She didn't pass her cat test so needs a home with no cats. She has been a little loud in her crate at first in her foster home so may not be the best dog for apartment living. This is a sweet cute girl. |

Rambo is a white and red male that has lived with a family for some time. He is a very sweet, friendly 6 year old boy. He has a thick coat from living outside. He is very good with cats paying no attention to the cats in his foster home and even ignored a bird that was in a vehicle he was transported in. He should be fine to live in homes with cats, small dogs, and even birds. Although he has lived outside for awhile, he is used to being in a home and settled happily on a dog bed or couch. He even knows how to use a doggy door. Rambo is a smaller guy weighing only 69lbs. He travels well and doesn't seem to stress out over anything. Just an easy going guy that likes everyone and would be a good first or 4th greyhound. Rambo ended up being heartworm positive so is undergoing treatment. |

Perogie was quite the racer, winning top level A races and racing and winning quite a few stakes races too. She raced 62 races at Derby Lane, Dubuque, and finally at Palm Beach. Because she was such an amazing racer she had 4 litters of pups before she officially retired. She was the mother of one of our adopter's pups and she tracked her down and asked if she could foster her. She is a sweet, calm girl whose favorite thing is napping. After raising 20 pups she knows the value of a nap. Perogie was born on March 7th of 2005 and raced at 63lbs. She is being fostered with small dogs and is fine with them. |

Messy is a red fawn, puppy girl that came to us directly from the farm. She weighs about 55lbs. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and her dam is CTW Folklore. She celebrated her first birthday on 4-1-13. Messy is not going to be trained to race because she had a broken upper back leg that effects her stride a bit. We had it X-rayed and it is totally healed and she loves to run and play and the injury doesn't seem to cause her any pain and doesn't slow her down much. Messy is very calm and well behaved for a greyhound puppy. She is sweet, friendly and loving. Her foster home recently took her on a beach vacation with them and she was very good at the hotel and enjoyed traveling and interacting with all the strangers she met. Nothing seems to phase her or get her stressed out. She takes everything in stride. She loves hugs and kisses and is crate trained. She has some puppy energy but is not bad and she has become one of their favorite fosters. She loves to snuggle on the couch with her foster family and the other dogs. Getting a greyhound this young is a rare opportunity. Messy did pass her cat and small dog test and has been good with the children she has met so she should be a great family dog. Messy crossed the bridge much too soon as a very young girl. |

We adopted Guy to a family back in 2008. We just were contacted by a vet that had a greyhound abandoned there. When we checked the ear tattoos we discovered it was Guy. So Guy is available again at 7 years old. His DOB is Jan 15th of 2006. He has been in an adoptive home since 2008. He is good with cats and small dogs and lived in a home with kids and was wonderful with them. Guy has a very unusual roman nose that makes him very special and cute. His sire is TNT Star Wars and his dam is Coldwater Beth. Guy has come into foster care and is very well behaved. He sleeps in bed with his foster mom and is very loving. He gets along great with a pit bull puppy in his foster home and pays no attention to the cats that live there. He is a very good boy that settled in like he had always been there and seems very happy and well adjusted. Guy does need a fenced yard because he doesn't potty well on leash. He does get nervous in thunderstorms. Guy began limping while in foster care and sadly was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer). There is no cure only pain management. One of the vet techs that cared for him decided to adopt him. Guy survived more than a year before losing his battle with cancer. |

Camry was a great racer then became a brood mom for a few years after she retired. We just got her from the brood farm. She is an older gal now at 10 years old. Her DOB is March 4th 2003. Her sire is the famous Gable Dodge and her dam is RV Sensational. She is a tiny girl that raced at only 54lbs. She was a special girl that one of our volunteers wanted brought in. She will be staying with her if she does well with her other dogs so probably won't be available. The photo of her is one from her racing days and she has a little more white on her face now. |

Amour is a beautiful, tiny white girl with black spots. She raced at only 54lbs so is very tiny. Her sire is Fuzzys Cannon and her dam is Ultimate Deva. Her birthday is Dec 4th. She has 14 races to her credit and started our racing at Palm Beach then moved to Sanford Orlando but never won a race. She is a very silly girl that loves to run in circles in the yard while barking happily. She doesn't care if anyone joins her and often is the only one running. She does this every turnout and seems like a higher energy gal that will need a fence yard to play in since she likes to run every time she goes outside. She got along well with the other girls at the track. She passed her cat test at the track so should be able to live with cats and small dogs. She is in a foster home with small dogs and has been fine with them. She seems like a very outgoing, happy girl. Amour is doing great in her foster home and is very well behaved and sweet. What a pretty girl!! Amour passed away suddenly due to kidney failure. |

Shadow is a black female that turned 9 years old on Jan 1st. She raced at 60lbs and she has 107 races listed when she was younger at Derby Lane and Naples Ft Meyers in Florida. Her sire is Lauren Tide and her dam is Oneco Persnickty. She has been in an adoptive home for 5 years since she retired and was adopted out through another adoption group that has given us permission to help rehome her. Her family is having to give her up because of moving into a senior living center. They are heartbroken about having to give her up. Shadow has good house manners and has been living with small white dogs and larger dogs and is good with all of them. She needs to be tested with cats. Shadow loves to go for rides in the car and always wants to go and rides nicely once she gets in but is a little afraid to jump into the car. When she first arrived at her adoptive home years ago she was very very shy and would run from people. Now she is very loving towards her family. She settled right into foster care though without any problem. She has even been out to a meet and greet at PetSmart. While she didn't actually go up to all the new people there she didn't shy away either and enjoyed the attention. Shadow has never tried to get up on the furniture in her home. She is a pretty black girl with white feet and chest and a white face. |

Declan just arrived from Derby Lane in Florida. He was a star racer but was on a break from racing due to a broken toe. When the first toe healed up he broke another toe so they just decided to retire him rather than risk any more toes. Declan's birthday is October 15th, 2010. His sire is the famous Oshkosh Slammer so he is a half brother to a bunch of dogs we have adopted out. His dam is Dixie Stampede. Declan is an extra large guy at 86lbs. We have some of the biggest boys we have ever adopted out available right now. If you like big, friendly, playful boys Declan could be your guy. On the trip up from the track he found a glove that he was tossing around in the back of the van. Definitely a guy that isn't stressed by being in a vehicle or around strangers. He likes everyone he meets and doesn't seem to get worried or stressed by anything. He still needs to be tested with cats but has been very good with the small dogs he has met and hasn't even shown interest in chasing squirrels in the yard so we think he will probably be cat safe as well. Declan crates quietly and likes to sleep in his crate so might be quiet enough for apartment living. He is a total love bug that will stand patiently and wait to be petted and will follow you around. He does well with the other male dogs in his foster home and has just settled in like he has always been there. He only had one accident in the house when potty training. He doesn't counter surf and is very well behaved. If he does anything wrong an "UH UH" is all it takes to make him stop. Because of his two broken toes his racing trainer doesn't think he would be a good performance dog prospect for agility or lure coursing. He is fine to run and play with other dogs, hike, go for walks or jogs with his owner though. Those toes shouldn't bother him as a pet. |

Luvbug was born on Dec 22 2000. She raced at Orange Park then went from there to Orlando which is where she retired. She raced at 57lbs. Her sire was the famous Rocksteady Eddie and her dam was System Blackgirl. She lived up to her name and was a total Luvbug. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. She lived with other greyhounds and small dogs and she loved them too. Her mom lost her after she suddenly started having seizures at nearly 12 years old. She crossed the bridge on 10/16/12. |

Hannah was a sweet little girl that was a favorite when we went to visit the race track. She raced at Orange Park for a long time then raced in Orlando for awhile and that was where we met her. When she retired from Orlando our group got her to place. It didn't take any time before her foster home decided to keep her. She was such a special little girl that raced at 57lbs. She was born on July 23 of 1999. Her sire was System Henry and her dam was System Could Be. She went into respiratory distress and died suddenly on 12/10/12 at 13 years old. Hannah was a great girl that is missed by her family. |

He raced at Jefferson County Kennel club 24 races but never won a race or got out of the maiden races into real competition. He was adopted in 2005 to Tammy and Dan and their kids in Greenville and had a wonderful life with them. He was a great guy that was very loving and sweet and well behaved. He helped Dan get through a kidney transplant and stayed by his side. Missile died 12/22/12 of lung cancer. |

Simon was born July 17th 2002 and raced at Jefferson County Kennel Club in 2004 and 2005. His sire was Flying Highball and his dam was Kiowa Day Shaw. We met him as a small puppy on the farm he was raised on in WV. He had been picked on by the other pups and was stitched up at the time. He was adopted in 2005 and was in a home for awhile but was returned to us due to some problems he was having with the other dogs in the home. He was in foster care for about 3 months to work on his behavior with other dogs and then was adopted by the Backus family. Simon was a model citizen after that. He could be around other dogs of all types and promoted greyhound adoption by going to meet and greets and doing parades. He loved everyone he met humans and canine. His family loved him dearly and he will be missed. He lost his battle with congestive heart failure on 6/30/12 just before his 10th birthday. |

She was a pretty good racer that raced at Palm Beach and at Jefferson County Kennel Club before retiring in 2002 due to an injury. She had 4 litters of puppies (31) before she retired from being a mom in 2007. She was adopted by the Doby family then and has been living with them since. Kewpie Doll lived up to her name and was a real doll. She raced at Orange Park before retiring from Sanford Orlando Kennel Club. Her Sire was Mischievious Mix and her dam was TZ Toodle Lou. She was born on April 8th 2004 and raced at 63lbs. She was a kennel favorite in Orlando and after our volunteers met her at the kennel in Orlando we asked that they send her to our adoption group when she retired. She just stood out in a crowd because she was beautiful and so sweet. She was adopted by the Ahl Family and was the smartest and sweetest dog they had ever met. She had a bleeding disorder that caused her to nearly lose her life but she was a miracle dog that pulled through. She was a tom boy that outran, out smarted and did the other dogs in the family. She was the family greeter and loved every one she met. Kewpie Doll lost her fight with liver failure on 2/6/13. |
