Additional Details:

Andy is a light fawn male greyhound that came in from the Orlando Track. He raced 4 maiden races in Palm Beach but didn't do well so he was moved to Orlando to try his luck there. Right after he arrived in Orlando he had a seizure at the end of June 2014. His racing owner retired him right away and they held him for a couple of weeks until we could get to Orlando to pick him up. Andy was with us for months and never had another seizure, so our vet advised us not to start him on the medication to prevent seizures unless he had another one. After he was adopted he had one seizure at the end of October and a couple more in December and a number in two days around Christmas. He was returned to us by his family because they didn't want to give him the inexpensive medication necessary to stop the seizures, even though they knew when they adopted him that he had had a seizure and would need medication if he ever had more. Our vet checked him as soon as he was returned and put him on Phenobarbital. He had one more seizure after a few days so Potassium Bromide was added. He has had no seizures since then in the last 2 months and our vets feel we have regulated his seizures and have released him for adoption. Andy is a very calm, well-behaved boy that is a beautiful light fawn with dark sabling on his face and neck. The medication does have a slightly sedating effect so he is going to be very calm and and more laid back than most greyhounds. Andy loves to go for walks and an occasional run in the yard. Andy is young and turned 2 on September 1st. He is a smaller guy, racing at 67lbs. His sire is Little Andy and his dam is Backwood Terri. He passed his small dog test and is doing great with small dogs in his foster home. Andy was interested in chasing the cats until one slapped him, then he panicked, slipped, and fell down trying to get away from the cats. We couldn't get him to go back near the cats again. So a home with a cat that would stand his ground should be all it would take for Andy to stay away from the cat permanently. Andy loves to go for rides in the car and will wait in the car for you happily when you run your errands. Andy is a very sweet, loving guy and his foster dad has been taking him to work with him every day. Everyone that meets him falls in love with his sweet loving personality. He was fostered with a 2 year old and loves kids. Andy can be a little noisy in his crate so would not be a good choice for apartment living. Andy does have an issue with pottying on leash- it takes him a very long time to go on leash, iF he goes at all. Andy seems to like his privacy and does much better when he can potty in a fenced yard off leash so he has to have a home with a fenced yard.

One of Andy's former foster homes that has moved to Florida is coming back to adopt him!
