Additional Details:
Dreamer is a tiny, black female that raced at 53 lbs. She just arrived from a Daytona Beach Kennel closing. She raced all of her 65 races there and won a few of them. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Mon Manny and her dam is Kiowa Deli Dana. We already placed two of her littermates Demolition and Dempsey and they are wonderful pets. Dreamer just turned 3 on August 7th. She passed her cat test and her small dog test, just sniffing politely and showing no interest in chasing either so should be fine in a home with either. She is more shy than her brothers were and will need time to warm up to her new family and new situations. She had a female trainer at the track so is used to women but more timid around men. Dreamer didn't seem to be scared by fireworks though. She is very quiet in her crate and seems to feel safe there. Dreamer follows the lead of more confident dogs so she would do best in a home with another more confident dog. She is a genetically shy girl that we refer to as a spook. Dreamer had good care at the track and her shyness is not because of anything bad happening to her. She is slowly warming up to her foster family and has started initiating play with her foster mom. She is much more cautious around her foster dad. She loves the other dogs in her foster family and is not shy with other dogs at all. She is very playful with other dogs and always plays nicely with her Irish Wolfhound foster sister and her greyhound foster sister. Her foster family has been taking her out a lot to different places like the farmers market and PetSmart to socialize her and introduce her to new places and she does better every time she goes out. She has even been to an obedience class, just to be around new people, not to actually learn tricks. Dreamer will need a family that understands that shy dogs need patience and time to warm up. She will eventually be very loving and completely devoted to her family, but may always be cautious around strangers and may not ever be really comfortable out in new places. We have her listed as no small kids because she is so timid, not because she would ever be a threat to a child. The fast movements and loud noises that small kids make scare her, so we think it would take her much longer to warm up to a family with toddlers. Older calmer kids would be better. Dreamer is such a sweet girl and makes so much progress every day with her foster family. We would love to get her in a new home soon.
