Gavin is a gorgeous guy that turned 3 on Nov 4th. He raced at 76lbs. He is doing well in his foster home with the small dogs and cats there so would be excellent for a home with small animals. Gavin loves playing with toys and the other dogs in his foster home. Although he is very shy, he warmed up to his foster family quickly and is very loving with his foster family. His trainers at the racing kennels said that he became very affectionate once he got to know them too and was only very shy initially. We think that a home without young, noisy children would be better for Gavin because of his shyness. It is only because of his shyness, Gavin is such a sensitive, gentle guy that we are sure he would never harm anyone or anything. While he has warmed up to his foster family quickly, he still tends to run away from visitors and people he doesn't know, so a quiet home without a lot of visitors and activity would probably suit him best. Gavin is likely to always be a real homebody that will be nervous out of his comfort zone. New things just make him very nervous. Because timid dogs tend to bolt when scared Gavin's ideal home would have a safely fenced yard for him to play in. Gavin's shyness is caused by not being handled by new people and exposed to new things as a puppy during that brief socialization window. He was never abused in any way and actually was very attached to his trainers. Gavin wants his family to know that even if he gets nervous and runs away the first time he meets them, he has a lot of love to give if they will just give him a little time to come out of his shell. Gavin is SUCH a sweet, loveable guy and is just gorgeous. If you have patience and a little time Gavin will reward you with all of his love. This is such a sweet, gorgeous, well behaved boy!
