Reebok only has one race listed in Birmingham AL. His sire is Jimbo Scotty and his dam is Nodak She Devil. He raced at 71lbs so is a mid-sized guy. DOB 1/15/07. Rebok is a sweet, calm boy that loves people. He will follow his foster mom around and lay quietly behind her desk or by the bed at night. He is a grinner and will grin when you talk to him or when he sees his foster kids coming to play with him. He gets along well with large and small dogs as well as his foster home kitties. Reebok will make a great first greyhound! |

Ritzy is a young dark brindle female with a huge heart! She loves to cuddle. She will lay her head in our laps and she would sit in our laps if we let her. She gets along well with other dogs and with our very active boys (ages 10 months to 14 years). She is small dog and cat tolerant. She is a fun playful girl and would be great for a family with kids and/or other dogs. Ritzy has been living in a home and was returned along with her housemate Ramses because the owners couldn't keep them and not because of any behavior problems. Ritzy should be a fun well behaved addition to just about any family. She loves to go for rides as you can see in her photo. |

Kimberly is a tiny brindle girl that is the smallest greyhound her foster mom has ever seen. She was overwhelmed when she first arrived but is warming up quickly and is coming up for love and starting to play with toys and other greyhounds in just a few days. Kimberly passed her cat and small dog tests at the track so should be able to live with either. She potties on leash just fine so may be OK without a fenced yard. She is a very curious girl that seems to learn fast. Kimberly's Pedigree |

Gabby is a sweet, seven year old girl that is already home acclimated and has been in a home for years. She is being rehomed along with her housemate Nora because her family is moving and are not taking the dogs with them. She is a sweet girl that is good with kids and has lived with small dogs. She has too high of a prey drive to live with cats though. Her Sire is ICU Smooth Talk and her dam is Kelso's Canoe. More as we get to know her. |

Booboo is a friendly, happy girl that was described as one of "the sweetest girls" at the kennel. Her personality really stood out to get her noticed in the crowd of 70 racers she lived with. Maybe part of that was her unusual name which certainly got everyone's attention. Don't worry, she is not a "pooper" and hasn't had too many "boo boos". Booboo passed her cat and small dog tolerance tests at the track so should be able to live with both. She is very well behaved in her foster home and with the other dogs in their home. Where she really shines is at meet and greets because she really loves her public and is making plenty of fans wherever she goes. This is a great girl that would do well in just about any situation and would be the perfect first greyhound or 10th. She walks nicely on leash too! And yes she does have an unusual chocolate brown spot on her nose. She is a one of a kind for sure. |

Bubba raced 40 races at the now closed Jefferson County Kennel Club. He only won one of those. He was placed in a home but came back to us as an Economy Return. He has been in a home so is already home acclimated. He is a big tall, pretty boy with a wonderfully quiet, laid-back personality but does have a playful goofy side too that makes him a fun boy. He is very sweet and safe with small animals and children. As you can see from his photos Bubba does have unique ears that sometimes end up in a position that make him look like he has been in a wind storm. He is such a cute guy and so well behaved. No behavior problems that we can see from this guy. He is going to fit right into some lucky home as if he has been there forever. His sire is Pompeys Gold and his dam is Baby Smile. |

Kohle is one of the rare greyhound puppies that became available because of an accidental breeding of two greyhounds. We received 4 pups from this litter along with their mother Sara (Sarandon). Greyhound puppies are rarely available because most pups are bred for racing and are not available for sale or adoption to the public until after their racing careers are over. Greyhound puppies are much different than the typical laid back calm adult greyhound. Pups are like puppies of other breeds - hyperactive, destructive and need constant supervision. We don't recommend them for the average busy family. Update after adoption: Kohle has grown up to be a tall well behaved young greyhound. He still gets together occasionally to play with his littermates. He also encourages greyhound adoption at Greyhound Crossroads events. |

Abby raced at Interstate, Pueblo, Mile High, Palm Beach and JCKC. She raced 73 races at 58 lbs. Her sire is Chick's Racey and her dam is Tap Tap Tappy. Abby is a happy, playful, friendly girl that is already home acclimated and has good house manners. She has been living with lots of small dogs and cats and gets along well with everyone. This beauty is the perfect gift to give yourself for Christmas. |

Chug came back into the GC adoption process through no fault of his own. His owner, who loves him very much, is experiencing severe allergic reactions that can't be corrected with medication. She describes him as the perfect dog and is trying to do everything possible to ease his way into another home. Not only will she be donating $100 of his adoption fee on her own, but the new family will have the advantage of his next year under the Banfield Animal Hospital (PetSmart) health care program. Chug comes with his own care package of supplies as well. This is a wonderful, sweet, home-acclimated boy coming from a situation where his family has done everything possible. Chug is calm and well behaved but playful enough to be a fun guy. His foster home says he is quiet and gets along great with their many cats and small dogs. He has been absolutely no problem and very well behaved throughout the transition to his foster home. Since he is so quiet and well behaved he is likely to be a good dog for apartment or townhouse living. Let's get him back home for the holidays! |

Hi my name is Ty. I am available for adoption because of the economy. I was a very good pet and my family wanted to keep me but were forced to put me up for adoption because of a job loss and having no place to move with a dog. I am already used to living in a home and I have great house manners. I have lived with children before and really love them. Noisy crying babies freak me out a little though so I would prefer to live with kids that are toddler age or older. I used to attend meet and greets to promote greyhound adoption so am a greyhound ambassador. I am very friendly and outgoing and was great at my job. I love to go for walks and will potty on leash so will be fine without a fenced yard. I lived in an apartment with my previous family so would be quiet enough for apartment living. I am looking for a family that wants a mature lady with manners to share their life with. I am a playful, fun girl that still loves to play and gets along well with other dogs of all kinds. Because of my age I have been selected for a reduced adoption fee of $200! Link to her pedigree |

Piper is a very small brindle female pup at only 35lbs. She is 10 months old so probably won't get much larger and is likely to stay exceptionally tiny. She was originally adopted from a shelter so not much is known about her. She has no ear tattoos so can't be identified but looks like she is pure greyhound. Piper is a very friendly confident pup that loves people. She has lived in a home before and was given up because her family didn't know that greyhound puppies NEED a place to run and they didn't have any place for her to play. Greyhound puppies are not calm and laid back like adult greyhounds. They must have a place to play and run and need plenty of exercise like any other puppy. So far Piper has been very well behaved in the house but is an active dog that would love to have other dogs to play with or an active family to play with. She especially loves running and playing with kids and is pretty gentle even though she is pup. She loves balls and toys of all types and is very playful. She does jump up to give hugs and we are working on stopping that. Piper likes to snuggle and must have slept in bed with her former family because she cuddles right up. She loves to get right up in your lap and is small enough to be a lap dog. Piper is very smart and learned how to sit and shake in just a few minutes. She is very food motivated and responds quickly to training if treats are involved. Piper has grown a little since she arrived and has put on 5lbs. She now weighs 40lbs. |

Wally is a great older guy that has been in a home so has good house manners already. He was returned to our group through no fault of his own. His family just didn't have room for him. Wally has no idea he is a senior and still runs and plays with the younger dogs and has a great time. This is a precious guy that just wants a couch to call his own and someone to scratch his head. Wally is a very special case, a senior boy who has some special health considerations. A very kind supporter has donated his adoption fee to help him go home! His pedigree Update after adoption: Wally's is doing well in his home and was crowned King of the Beach 2010 at Beach Bound Hounds in Myrtle Beach. |

Max never really ended up being a racer which is why we got him so young. He wouldn't come out of the starting box. His sire is the famous Dave The Dog that lives in our area and his dam is ICU Gatsby. He weighs about 80lbs, DOB 9/29/08. He is a very tall boy that is a gentle giant and is actually pretty timid. This shy guy is very happy in his crate and so quiet in his crate he could easily be an apartment dog. He also potties well on leash walks so doesn't require a fenced yard. Max likes to lean up against people and feels more comfortable if he can lean against you if he is nervous or in a new place. Like most shy dogs he is frightened of loud noises and quick movements so might adapt better to a home without small, loud children. Max loves his crate and looks on it as a safe haven and will choose to hide there if something scares him. He walks perfectly on leash without pulling unless he gets startled. When startled he tends to bolt for his crate. He learned stairs quickly and seems to catch on to new things pretty quickly. He is warming up the longer he is in his foster home and is starting to greet people happily that come to visit. So far he has been exceptionally calm for such a young guy. He has started playing with the dogs in his foster home and is exceptionally tolerant even with a puppy. Max is submissive with other dogs and has shown no sign of any dominance at all so seems like he would get along very well in a home with a more dominant dog. He is very cat and small dog tolerant. He LOVES to chew on bones but hasn't shown any sign of wanting to chew on anything else. This is a great boy that will just need some time to warm up to his new family. Update after adoption: Max has been spotted at many GC events encouraging greyhound adoption. He is not the shy boy that he used to be and has really come out of his shell. He is working toward being a Therapy Dog. |

Rumbler is a tiny little girl who raced at 52lbs. She only has 11 races listed at Derby Lane in FL. She didn't win one of those so retired young. Her sire is Maryville Rumble and her dam is Greys Tarmac who we also placed. Our volunteers who have met her just say over and over "she's so sweet!" We'll have more details on her shortly, but if you're looking for a little girl who's sweet as pie, this is your babe! |

Raccoon is a friendly girl with very unusual markings. She got her nickname at the track because of the black around her eyes. We haven't seen a fawn dog with this much white before either. She has a white blaze, a wide white collar around her neck, white stockings that go nearly all the way up her legs and half of her tail is even white. Raccoon figured out how to get off her kennel muzzle at the track so she ended up being the only greyhound that didn't have to wear one. She got along well with all the other girls in the turn out pen so she never really needed one. Raccoon loves to play with toys and carry them around. Her favorite at the track was an old cleaned out bleach bottle that she would proudly carry around. She figured out steps right away and has no problem with them. Raccoon has shown that she has a pretty high prey drive but has been OK with the small dog in her foster home after a proper introduction and supervision. She seems to be OK with cats too after an initial sniff but needs to be supervised when cats or small dogs move quickly around her at first until she realizes what they are. She responds very well to correction with cats and small dogs. Raccoon can be loud in the crate sometimes so may not be a good dog for apartment living. She has learned to potty on leash so may be able to live in a home without a fenced yard if her family was willing to leash walk her. Raccoon was loved by the Horton Bottiglier Family of Greenville SC for over 5 years. Sadly Raccoon crossed the bridge 1/18/16 due to bone cancer. Horton Bottiglier

Shilo is a pretty boy who's returning to GC through an economy return. His current foster hosts describe him as being very, very sweet and hasn't been any problem at all. He crates quietly, has been perfectly clean inside with no accidents, and has shown absolutely no interest in chasing any of the cats or small dogs he's met since his arrival. Shilo's original GC fosters had equally nice experiences with him among their pack and feel he's just a terrific, well-rounded boy. Shilo just needs a little visit with our group vet just for a checkup, but he is available for appointments to visit. This wonderful boy is just looking for his forever family! |

Blue Streak was a pretty successful racer at one of the top tracks- Southland in Arkansas. He raced 39 races there and did get up to the top A level. His sire is Maryville Rumble and his dam is Our Saucey. He is a mid sized guy that raced at 77lbs. DOB 5/2/07. Blue Streak is a very handsome guy with his rare, blue brindle coloring. Blue Streak is very friendly and loves to give kisses to anyone that puts their face down near his. He is very loving towards everyone he meets. He seems especially drawn to children and also passed his cat and small dog test with flying colors so should be able to live with either. He seems to get along well with the other dogs in his foster home including an annoying pup. This a guy that has it all - looks and personality! |

Miss Kitty was born in Ireland on 1/1/2003 and raced at such famous tracks as Clonmel and Galway among others. She was good and won some races. She was retired in May 2005 from racing and had 2 litters of pups in Ireland before being shipped to the US in 2007 while pregnant with her 3rd litter. She had 3 litters in the US and was retired from being a mom in 2010 after having 28 puppies. Â Miss Kitty was adopted by the Elmore family in 2010 when she was 7 years old. She raced at about 58lbs. Miss Kitty was a wonderful sweet girl that couldn't have been a better pet. She will be missed. The Elmore family lost Miss Kitty on Feb 21st 2013 at 10 years old |

Santana is a handsome guy that has good house manners and has already been home acclimated. He didn't get along well with the other large male dog in his former home but was tolerant of the small female dogs. Santana would do better in a home with a female dog or a home with no dogs. He walks like a dream on leash and is calm and well behaved. Santana is all heart and totally devoted to his people and even has a heart shape in the fur between his eyes. He loves to have his ears scritched and will stand there as long as you will continue. He is the rare greyhound that has never tried to get up on any furniture. Santana loves to go for rides in the car and plays with balls and ropes. He kennels well but usually is left out because he never has chewed or messed up anything in his home. Santana would do best in a home with no young children. Foster Home Update! Santana is one really marvelous boy! He LOVES to play and will bring instant laughs to anyone closeby. He really is devoted to people and very much wants to be touched and loved. The only difficulty he's displayed in foster care is a slight hesitation to tile/vinyl floors, and if startled or approached by something odd, he tends submissive responses. Santana is a great dog who's absolutely ready to go home! Link to his pedigree. |

Gem raced 63 races at Seabrook and at Raynham Taunton tracks. She was good racing at the top A level and winning the GGR Cons. Championship Stakes Race. Her sire is Its AClevercatch and her dam is Greys Slap Happy. She was such a good racer we are surprised that she wasn't ever a mom but we are glad we got her. She is a small girl that raced at just 56lbs. We placed her when she first retired and she lived happily in a home for years until financial difficulties forced them to return her. Gem is a playful 8 year old who gets along well with cats and small dogs. She loves to chase squirrels in the yard and competes for 1st place while walking with her fellow greys. She does well with children but, would probably be best with children over 8 years. Gem seems to have a special affection for the man of the house and would be a wonderful pet for a retired owner or a stay at home parent. Gem cannot go an entire workday without going outside but, could probably easily learn to use a doggie door. She is well behaved, walks well on a leash, loves squeaky toys and is quite a love. Gem has been selected as the recipient of GC member support donations, lowering her adoption fee to $200. |

Our directors met Pooh on a trip to the Birmingham Race track to pick up dogs. Pooh had been previously adopted out by the adoption kennel at the Birmingham race track but that home had not worked out for her. She was back at the kennel when our group arrived to pick out dogs and Kim and Robert fell in love with her. Pooh lives to chase squirrels and you can tell she does a lot of squirrel chasing because she is so stocky and muscular. She look more like a body builder than a thin greyhound. She is a sweet friendly girl that never met a stranger. She can be a bit bossy with her brothers and is a very confident girl. |

Nora is a cute little black and white, six year old greyhound that is being rehomed by her family with her greyhound housemate Gabby because they are moving. Since she has been in a home most of her life, Nora is already home acclimated and has great house manners. She is good with cats, kids and small dogs so would fit in, in just about any home. Nora's litter never finished the registration process when they were young so none of them ever raced. We know one of her brothers well and he is a wonderful dog too. Nora had an injury to one of her legs when she was young and has a slight limp especially when she first gets up. This doesn't effect her life much other than keeping her from going up and down flights of stairs. She is fine going for short walks but isn't going to want to be a jogging or hiking partner. This is the perfect dog for a busy family that doesn't have much time to spend exercising a dog or maybe a lower energy family that can't do much walking. Link to her pedigree |

Walter is a gentle giant weighing well over 80lbs. He is a sweet boy that is very outgoing and will try to get his head in your lap at every opportunity for petting. He gets along well with other dogs and is well behaved. He does need some work on leash manners because he is quite strong and pulls pretty hard. He is already learning house manners and is doing really well in his foster home with their small dogs and other greyhounds. Walter is a littermate to one of our new arrivals Jeserell. Here is his pedigree Update: his foster home has decided to adopt him and have renamed him Mayer! |

Bennett is a dignified older gentleman in the rare position that we know very little about him. At the grand age he has reached, he very much deserves to have that special place to call home where he is safe and loved. Bennett is ready to follow you home! Update from his foster home! He is a perfect gentleman, never having an accident inside and living peacefully with all the other residents in his foster home including small dogs. He also is very tolerant of all cats he has met and seems to be drawn to children. He adores having his throat rubbed and will patiently stand with his head raised as long as the attention continues. If his humans are seated he gently places his head in their lap. Even though he is farther along in age than most of our dogs, Bennett is very spry and active and still loves to run and play. Bennett especially enjoys walks in the neighborhood and wants a family that will do that with him. They don't have to be long, just a short walk makes him very very happy. He never meets a stranger and everyone lucky enough to give him a rub falls in love! Let's help this precious older fella find the perfect home to spend the rest of his retirement in peace and safety. He has been chosen by our members for special gifts and support, reducing his adoption fee to $200. Update after adoption: Sawyers foster family decided to keep him. They had already decided to adopt him when he was diagnosed with cancer. They did the adoption paperwork that day to make it official that he had a home for the rest of his life. Sadly he lived just a few more months and crossed the rainbow bridge. |

JJ is a sweet friendly boy that passed his cat and small dog tests so should be able to live with either. He is a very young guy that just celebrated his his second birthday at the end of June. He is playful and enjoys running and playing with the other dogs in his foster home. He seems to be a very bright boy because he has already figured out where the dog food is stored and how to lift the lid to the container to help himself. He has learned how to play with toys and is doing great on his housetraining. JJ loves "help" with the laundry although he is generally unfolding what was folded and carrying it around to decorate the bedroom with it. This is a fun guy! He is a half brother to one of our other adoptable males, Bacchus. Link to his pedigree |

Dee is a tiny, light fawn brindle girl without many stripes. She was too shy for a kennel situation and they had difficulty catching her after races. Her trainer thinks she will blossom in a quiet home and be a loving pet though. Like most shy dogs she probably would do best in a home with quiet, older children or no children because she may be frightened by yelling and fast movement. Dee crates quietly and loves her crate. Like most shy greyhounds, she sees it as her safe place. She is curious and wants to interact and will come up and bump you with her nose but then quickly back away. Dee seems to be more comfortable with women than men. Link to her pedigree Update on Dee from her foster home: She is doing very well. She is very shy, but very curious. She wants to know what everything is, but is often scared. She's got guts, though, because she will slowly come back again and again until she can figure out the new thing. She loves being outside with all of the smells and sights. She is also getting more and more comfortable with handling. In fact, she makes sure that she is always in the same room that I am in. If I move, she is right behind me. She loves getting petted, but is still a little scared to come up and ask for love. But with a little coaxing she will generally come get a few scratches. Dee is a very good eater! She loves her food!! She is a complete fool for any kind of meat and also cheddar cheese. Dee had her first trip to the beach last night, and she loved it! She even did reasonably well with the people on the beach. She did let a couple of people pet her, which is very impressive, since she is so shy. She was completely unafraid of the water, and just walked right in. She wasn't the least bit fazed by the waves washing up on her feet, either. She had a wonderful time exploring all of the new smells. She is completely comfortable with other dogs of all sizes, and still hasn't given my cats so much as a sniff. This is one super sweet girl. She is going to make a devoted companion, and is going to be a little velcro girl. She just needs some time to gain some confidence. Update: Once Dee learned to trust her foster mom she has bonded very tightly and is very loving. She is still wary of strangers but is getting better. She gets along great with other dogs and cats. |

Homer is a tiny little guy that is as sweet and friendly as he can be. He has a glossy black coat and is a real head turner. Homer is a fun playful guy that is curious about everything. He walks great on leash. He is a real leaner and will stand with his body wrapped around your legs for as long as you stand there. if you move he will too and lean on you again. He was so happy to be at our recent Petco greyhound meet and greet. He thought everyone was there just to pet him and he was in heaven. Homer crates quietly but would prefer to be out with his people. This is a tiny, little lover boy that is going to be a great addition to a lucky family. Link to his pedigree |

Lily is a sweet little black girl that is barely more than a pup. She was born on 8/4/08. Lily passed her cat and small dog test so should be able to live with either. Lily is doing great in foster care and gets along well with the other dogs there. She has a submissive nature so will probably always do her best to be good and please her family. She is a joy to be around! Lily is a half sister to Chato and CurlyQ, two of our other available dogs. |

Baby is a young girl and doesn't even turn two until August 1st. She seems to be very well mannered with other dogs and people greeting everyone with a submissive posture and friendly puppy kisses. She is very friendly and seems to like children. Baby passed her cat and small dog test so could live in a home with either. She was a kennel favorite at the track and her trainer wished she could keep her and had a hard time letting her go. Her trainer recommended her for the first time foster home she is in thinking she would be an easy girl that would try to please. Baby likes to play with balls and loves to get in the water in the baby pool. She likes to go for walks but doesn't not go potty on walks so is one that is going to need a fenced yard to potty in. She is going to make some lucky family a very good pet. Baby is a half sister to one of our other available dogs, Wiley. Link to her Pedigree |

Cracker Barrel is a tall, beautiful, nearly all white girl with just some brindle spots on her ears and over one eye and some freckles in her fur. She is well behaved and easy going and absolutely nothing phases her. Cracker Barrel is very friendly and loves to play and run around. She likes to go for rides and travels really well. She is getting along wonderfully with the cats and small dogs in her foster home too. She is picking up the rules of living in a house very quickly and seems like a girl that will be a wonderful loving, fun, pet. Although she looks very regal, Cracker Barrel does have a fun, silly side and does like to play with toys. Cracker Barrel is a half sister to several of our other available dogs, Jet, Drama and Jeserell. We have adopted out quite a few pups from this line and they all seem to have exceptional personalities. |

Chato just arrived. She broke her leg recently so was retired from racing. The break doesn't seem to be a bad one so she should be fine to run around and play in a month or so after it heals. She will be in a splint until it heals. Her trainer describes her as a tiny, bubbly girl that follows her around trying to get her attention. She is a tiny 53lb white and black girl with two big black spots on her back that resemble angel wings and some smaller black freckles (ticking). She did great at her first dog event and would go up calmly to people and lean against them to be petted. Chato seems to like to travel and will hop up on the seat and lay down for the ride. She has done great with the very small dogs and cats in her foster home so should be fine living with either. Chato is a half sister to Lily and CurlyQ, two of our other available girls. Her pedigree Update: Hi! my name's Chato. My hobbies include loving on you, leash walks, and snuggling. Ok ok, I love eating too! What i'm looking for in a family is someone to love me back, help me stretch my legs a lil, and keep my food bowl full. I'm a very good girl, i just want to make you happy. I don't mind having brothers and sisters but i'm ok with being an only child too. If littler dogs growl at me or snap I just walk away. I am such a good girl. I learned to go potty on a leash really good, and i can even walk on slick floors like hardwood and tile with my splint. So they tell me I could live in an apartment or without a fenced yard. My leg is healing up so well that you can barely tell where I broke it now, I can hardly wait until I can run around and play again. I am a pretty low energy girl so don't require much exercise. I would be perfect for a low energy owner that likes to just go for short walks. |

This very young guy just arrived and is already settling in to his foster home well. Jet has mastered the stairs and eats politely with other dogs around. He has showed no interest in chasing small animals or cats so should be fine with either. Jet seems to like children so should be fine in a home with kids too. He is friendly and loves people so seems like he will be a great pet. What a cute pup! Those heavily lined Egyption eyes are really hard to resist. Jet is a half brother (on father's side) to several of our other available dogs, Drama, Jeserell, and Cracker Barrel. Link to his pedigree |

Vanna was a kennel favorite while racing because of her sweet, friendly, calm disposition. The fact that she is so beautiful probably played a part in that too. Vanna is around 64lbs and so far seems to be pretty laid back and quiet. She wants to stay near people and will often lean up against you. She travels well and seems to like to go. She seems to have a very low prey drive and had no interest in chasing small dogs or cats. This is a super sweet girl that even stands out in a kennel full of dogs. Vanna loves to play with toys and likes rope toys and stuffed animals best. She will throw them around and pounce on them. Update after adoption: Vanna was adopted a couple of times but kept coming back to her foster home. They finally decided that she was going to stay - she had known she was supposed to all along. Vanna now promotes greyhound adoption at greyhound events in the Charlotte area. |

Rhythm is a stunning, medium sized male. He is friendly with people and seems like he is going to be a great guy. He passed his cat and small dog test so should be able to live with either. Although he was initially a marker he has learned quickly that he can't mark in the house and is doing great on his potty training. Rhythm is playful outside and tries to get his foster sister to join him running around the backyard. He seems to get along well with other dogs. He is a very happy, sweet loving guy that loves attention. Another great guy that should be a fantastic pet. His pedigree Update after adoption: Paws lives with another greyhounds and regularily attends adoption events to promote greyhound adoption. His favorite things are running in the yard with his greyhound sister Blondie and snuggling with his human dad, Ken. |

Toast is a very large, very handsome red male at 80lbs. His nose is probably the longest we have ever seen because of his large size combined with an overbite. He is a true needle nose and is truly a one of a kind. He is very friendly and would love to be a lap dog. He is a couch potato and will sit next to you and rest his head on the back of your shoulders. Toast is quite the snuggler already. He travels well and will choose to sit on the seat and look out the window if allowed. He is a great guy that gets along well with other dogs of all sizes and is quite the gentle giant. He would probably be an excellent Therapy dog because of his fiendly nature and easy going personality. His sire is Gable Judges and his dam is Whytell Colorado. |

Opium is a beautiful black girl with personality to match. She's settled into foster care immediately with absolutely no problems at all. She crates quietly, has been totally clean in the house, and comes back in from the fenced back yard when called. She doesn't have any symptoms of separation anxiety and gets along quite peacefully with the other dogs in her foster home. Opium loves attention and puts on a little "wiggle-butt" show when talked to. She is not cat safe and hasn't been tested with very small children yet, but she did just fine with the older children who have already visited with her. This is a great dog who should be a perfect first greyhound or the next addition to an established pack....perfect just about anywhere! Her sire is the famous Flying Penske and her dam is Frisby Fin. |

Kisses came in from the Sanford Orlando Race Track but also raced at the Naples Ft Myers track. She only has 11 races to her credit so wasn't very good as a racer. She is a sweet girl full of personality. She has the cutest tiny ears that stand straight up. Her ears have a few dark gray or black speckles but the rest of her is white with just a few large light gray dalmation type spots. She has no large patches of color at all. Kisses is about 57lbs. This cutie is a busy little girl that is curious about everything and very friendly. Her tail wags furiously when she sees you. She seems to crate well and passed her small dog test. This is a friendly girl that will be a great pet. Her sire is Craigie Whistler and her dam is Flying Valentine. Her DOB is 8/19/2006 |

Sara was born Feb 4th of 2005. She raced at Valley race track in Texas and Dubuque before moving Woodlands in Kansas. From there she went to the Birmingham race track and retired from there in Jan 2009. A family adopted her directly from her trainer along with a male greyhound. Sara ended up having an accidental litter of pups in Jan of 2010 which is how we ended up with her. Her family couldn't financially care for her and the pups and she was relinquished to an adoption group and eventually moved with some of her pups to our adoption group. Sara was an excellent mom to her pups for 5 months before being adopted by the Roepke family of Columbia, SC. Sara was small, friendly, brindle, beauty with a waggy tail and a fun, playful personality. Sara was good with cats, kids and small dogs and everyone she met. Her favorite thing was to play at a dog park and was the rare greyhound that could run every day and keep up with other breeds energy wise. Of course she was much faster than the rest of them. Sara loved to go for rides and walks and was her owners "best friend". We had get togethers with Sara and her pups and she always remembered them. Sara passed away suddenly 12/26/12 of unknown causes at just 7 years old. |

Pretty little Daisy is another Economy Return. This very tiny (about 50lbs) girl is a happy sweet girl that will love her family. She has already lived in a home for years so is home acclimated and has good house manners. She has lived with small dogs and gets along well with everyone. She is calm and laid back so would be a great dog for a busy home without much time to exercise a dog. Daisy loves her naps and often chooses to sleep in her crate. This a great girl that has a lot of love to give that will fit quickly into just about any family. Daisy raced 84 races at Bluffs Run, Dubuque, VictoryLand and finally retired from JCKC in June of 2006. She did get up to A level. Her sire is Scott Free and her dam is Whoopie On By. She was born 7/17/02. |

Heidi is just the cutest little girl! She only raced 6 races that we could find at Flagler and she raced at 49lbs so she is very very tiny for a greyhound. Her sire is Wes Cooley and her dam is JC's Sweetmelody. DOB 5/22/06. Heidi originally was adopted through another group that has shut down in the Augusta GA area. She has been in a home for some time and was returned through no fault of her own. She is fine with cats, small dogs and kids and is playful and happy. She is just a tiny bit shy at first with new people, but warms up quickly. She is very well behaved and has great house manners already so should fit into a new home very quickly. |

Chris is a really sweet guy and another perfect example of the Economy Returns we're seeing so much of right now. Although his family could no longer keep him, he's ready for a new life through no fault of his own. He is such a good boy and would be perfect for the first time Greyhound owner. He is a big, dark brindle male, full of silliness and playfulness. Chris loves attention, gives kisses and grins for his humans! Gets along well with small dogs and cats. This guy is tall dark and handsome with personality plus! He and Motif (another of our available hounds) look like twins. Anyone for a matched pair? |

Motif is a very sweet loving boy that was returned because his family was relocating and couldn't take him with them. He ended up being heartworm positive so underwent treatment. He has made a full recovery and has been released by our vet for adoption. This is a guy who has already learned the ropes of life in a house so will make a wonderful easy addition for just about any family. Motif has lived with cats and small children and is currently living with small dogs so should be able to fit into just about any home. He is a well behaved boy with good house manners. He is talkative and will get louder sometimes when left alone, so might not be the best dog for an apartment. Motif would however be an excellent watch dog. He is the rare greyhound that will actually alert you whenever someone comes onto the property. He is barking with joy and wants attention, so isn't a guard dog at all - just a wonderful watch dog. Motif is a lower energy guy that is great on leash and likes to go for walks but isn't going to require a lot of exercise so would be perfect for a lower energy owner. He is a very devoted loving boy that absolutely adores his people and wants to be beside you all the time. He likes to play with other dogs and but LOVES to be with people even more. A great guy and so CUTE! Motif has been chosen by the GC membership for sponsorship, plus an individual member has generously donated $50 toward his adoption fee! Motif's fee will now be only $150! |

Angel raced in Dubuque and in Birmingham before retiring in 2004. She raced at 66lbs and her sire was Dominator and her dam was RJ's Avalanche. Her birthday was Aug 28/2001. She was in a home for quite a few years and sadly was an economic return at 8.5 years old. She was re-adopted by the Makosiej family 4/12/2010 and had a wonderful life with them. Angel was a sweet calm girl who wanted nothing more than some petting and ear scritches. She got along great with other dogs and all people including the 3 kids in her adoptive home. She had great manners and was just an angel that lit up her family's life every day. Angel lost her battle with bone cancer on Jan 19, 2012 at 10.5 years old. |

ScoobyDoo is a beautiful boy and very good too! He is a big guy that raced at 80lbs that is still a playful pup at heart. He has those sweet big eyes with lots of eyeliner that will melt the heart of a greyhound-lover! He has showed no interest in chasing cats or small dogs so could live with either. Scooby seeks out the company of children when he has been around them. When visiting our vet for his neuter, he made lots of friends there playing with the staff. This guy has personality plus and was one of the kennel favorites at the track because of his silly happy personality - it was also what got him his nickname of Scooby Doo. Nothing seems to bother him and he will want to do whatever you are doing. This is a guy that just wants to be with you although he will happily crate if you are gone. Update after adoption: Scooby Doo has been renamed Chase and is now a Therapy Dog! Chase crossed the bridge in 2014 due to what the vets believed was a brain tumor. |

Nitika is a cute little girl that already has a lot of white on her face for her age. She has a sweet, outgoing, curious personality. Natika has been tested more than once with cats and may be trainable for an owner with experience in introductions and training but is very interested initially. She passed her small dog test after initial curiosity and sniffing and has responded well to small dogs that approach on walks. Her foster family reports that she has adjusted to her new life quickly and is doing amazingly well. She is very sociable, loves attention from visitors, and hasn't displayed any separation anxiety when left alone. Nitika is already learning 'down' and has shown fast improvement on her leash manners. She is also doing fantastic on potty training and stairs. They describe her as an awesome dog! Update! Natika has been in foster care for awhile now and has perfect house manners and is great on leash. This girl is as sweet and as close to perfect as a girl could get. She is ready for a home! |

He lived very happily with little Italian Greyhounds in his previous home. He has made friends with everyone that the clinic where he's become a fast favorite. He even smiles when he is happy! Mickey is a beautiful boy who is very happy and outgoing and has the cutest ears! He is also very sweet and will lay his head in your lap to have his ears and neck rubbed. Mickey has a goofy, fun personality and would make someone a wonderful companion. He is smart, eager to please, and listens well and has learned to sit on command. Mickey enjoys running around and playing in the yard with the other dogs in his foster home. However, he would also do well as an only dog since he is not dependent on the other greyhounds. He gets along wonderfully with other greyhounds and is very respectful of other dogs. Mickey does well with smaller dogs and is getting better with cats every day, although he is still very curious about them. He walks well on leash, although he gets a bit excited and is very curious in new situations. Mickey crates well although it may take him a little time to settle down if he is crated away from the family at night. Mickey is a graduate of our TriCounty Tech Partnership Program where the staff and students at TriCounty Tech love this beautiful boy and became very attached to him. |
