Izzy is a greyhound puppy that was stepped on by her mother when tiny. Her leg broke and wasn't able to heal correctly without surgery. Look at her other photos to see her X-rays. Pro Greyhound, a group that takes in injured greyhounds, gets them the surgery they need, and rehabilitates them after surgery, got her the surgery she needed. The orthopedic surgeon charged $2500 to have it done. Please help fund her surgery if you can by going to their page for info - Pro Greyhound. The puppy will be in a cast then a splint for some time and won't be released for adoption until February or March. The surgical repair was successful and the leg should be usable again if her rehab goes as expected. Although her leg has to be painful she is used to it and takes it all in stride. She is a sweet friendly girl that is completely a puppy and not the calm, well behaved, retired dog that most greyhound owners are used to. As with all puppies she will need supervision and training and will have to be taught manners.  She will needs an experienced owner that can help her become a well behaved adult. Her sire is Group Rooster and her mom is Rico's Tagnanello. She was born July 7 of 2017. She was tattooed at 3 months with her siblings.

Rascal just arrived from the Mardi Gras Race Track in Hallandale Beach Florida. He also raced briefly at Derby Lane near Tampa. He only raced 11 races and the best he did was to place 4th in one of those. In the rest, he was back toward the back of the pack. Because he didn't show any promise as a racer he retired very young. Rascal won't even turn 2 until May 15th. He raced at 71lbs and is a gorgeous, shiny, dark brindle guy. He is friendly and seems pretty calm for such a young guy. He does need some more work on walking on leash without pulling because his race career was so short and he didn't get much experience with that. Rascal passed his cat and small dog tests without much interest so should be able to live with both. His sire is KL's Raymond and his dam is Kiowa Tara Tess. Rascal whined some in his crate a bit the first night but quieted down the next day so we don't know if he will be OK for apartment living. More as we get to know him.

Ney just arrived from the Sanford Orlando race track. She raced at Orange Park in Jacksonville too but only won 2 of her 53 races. She placed some at the lowest D level but was eventually retired. Ney turned 3 on May 25th. Her sire is SH Avatar and her dam is Gable Go Shaunee. She is a smaller girl that only weighs 57lbs. Ney is a friendly happy girl that loves everyone she meets. She loves to go for rides in a car and will jump right in and lay down. A really good traveler. She doesn't seem to be bothered by much. Ney was too interested in chasing the cat she met to be able to live with one. She was good with the other dogs she met large and small. A very cute girl with the prettiest high contrast brindle markings with lots of black stripes. She was quiet in her kennel even the first night she arrived. More as we get to know her.

Fostered by (location):
Stanberry (Augusta, GA)
Adoption Status: Adopted by the Hays Family of Evans GA, 2.11.2018

Daffodil is a cute fawn female that will turn 7 on June 2nd. She is a small girl that raced at just 56lbs. Her sire is the famous Kelsos Fusileer and her dam is Kelsos Spitfire. She raced 57 races at Mardi Gras and Flagler in FL and Dubuque in IA. She mostly raced at the lower levels but did compete in a few A races. Daffodil raced her last race December 1st of 2014. She was retired to a farm to be a brood mom but didn't end up actually ever having pups. We got her in early 2016 and she was adopted by a family in March of 2016. That family moved to Florida recently and didn't have time for Daffodil due to a new grandbaby and travel for work. They gave her to a another family there, that turned her over to the adoption group at the Orange Park Race Track in Florida. We work closely with that track adoption group so they contacted us and got her a ride back to our group. Daffodil has been in a home for nearly 2 years so is home acclimated. She was living with cats in her previous home and would share the couch with them and never bothered them. She was also used to being around children and was good with them. We heard she could be an occasional counter surfer and had chewed a few things when left home unsupervised. Fortunately Daffodil does great if left in a crate when home alone, so that prevents any unwanted behavior. She likes her crate and often goes in the crate to rest on her own when the door is open. Daffodil doesn't really like traveling and long rides. She is friendly and likes people but prefers to be a homebody. She is so pretty and very very sweet!

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Coley Family of Fuquay Varina, NC 2/4/18

Sparks just arrived from the Daytona Beach Race Track. She only had 6 schooling races there and finished so far back in every one of those that she never actually had an official race.  She is a very young girl that won't turn 2 until April 20th Sparks looks like a tiny little body builder. She is very short but stocky and raced at 61lbs. Her sire is Atascocita Gray and her dam is Backwood Barbra. She was initially interested in the cat until the cat slapped her, then she didn't want to get near the cat again. We think she would be trainable with a confident cat with supervision. Sparks did fine with an Italian Greyhound that she met. She is settling in to foster care very well. She whined to let her foster dad know that she needed to go outside from the first day in a home. She was initially nervous on stairs but figured them out within a few hours. Sparks doesn't like to go potty on leash, so probably will need a home with a fenced yard where she can pick the perfect spot to go and have her privacy. She does seem to pick up new things very quickly and doesn't seem to stressed by new things except for shiny floors. She is still learning that it is OK to walk on shiny floors and they do bother her to begin with. Her name fits her, Sparks is a happy, friendly, silly, girl that seems like she has a bouncy, fun personality. She does need some more work on her leash manners because she is very curious and wants to go check out everything.

Age:

Color/Gender:
Black Male
Cat Tolerance:
Yes
Small Dog Tolerance:

Good w/ Children:

Fostered by (location):
Bowden, Greenville
Adoption Status: Adopted by the Jacobson Family of Irmo SC 2/3/18

Dudley initially came in from the Brindle Kennel at the Palm Beach Race Track. He never had an official race, because he had an injury to his hock while he was in race training. It has completely healed and he has been in an adoptive home since May of 2017. Dudley was just returned to us on 1/6/18 by his owner Jamie Pilgrim of Pickens. On arrival he only weighed 42lbs and was a walking skeleton with much of his hair missing and open pressure sores. Dudley is under vet care and against all odds seems like he will recover, probably because he is so young. Our vet has checked him over and his blood work looks normal and nothing was found that would cause this other than starvation. Dudley turned 2 on August 16th and is a mid sized male that should be at least 75lbs. His sire is Djays Octane and his dam is Hey Dodi Lou. Dudley is a cute, friendly boy that seems pretty calm for a 2 year old. He is quiet in his crate so may be a good dog for a townhouse. He passed his cat and small dog tests easily. He loves being around other greyhounds and dogs and is much more happy and waggie when they are around. He was a bit more reserved at his first foster family's home where he was an only dog. Dudley is an adorable, loving guy that is already home acclimated.  He is terrific with small children and dogs of any size, even those around him who may be very energetic and playful.  He currently needs a daily thyroid pill which is very inexpensive. The good pictures of Dudley are all from when he first arrived from the track. Some photos of him after his return and his ongoing recovery are in his other pictures.

Update Jan 14th: Dudley is eating well and has soft beds to lay on now. Most of his pressure sores are scabbed over. He still has a long way to go but looks like he is slowly putting on weight.

Update Jan 20th: Dudley is still doing great and has put on 10lbs. He weighs 52lbs now! Our vet is very pleased with his progress.

Update Jan 26th Owner Jamie Pilgrim of Pickens pled guilty to felony animal cruelty.

Update Feb 3rd Dudley has a new family pending his release from the vet! The Jacobson family of Irmo SC wanted to make his adoption final on the day of his Dashing For Dudley Fundraiser when they met him. He can't go home with them and their other greyhounds quite yet because our vet wants him to stay close until he has put on more weight. His adoption contract has been signed and completed so he officially has a family now and will be home very soon. Dudley's generous fans raised over $1000 for him during the fund raiser!!

Dom just arrived from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He is a young guy that had a very short career of only 3 races and finished last in all of those. Dom is a handsome black male that raced at 73lbs. He is very young and won't even turn 2 until May 18th. His sire is Golden Squire and his dam is B My Merlot. Dom passed his cat test at the track so should be fine to live with cats or small dogs. He hasn't shown any interest in the cats he has met since either. Dom is very sweet and friendly, so much so that it was hard for his foster mom to take pictures of him. Whenever he saw her looking at him he would come straight over to her to get attention. Dom likes to play with toys. He has done just a little whining but is mostly quiet in his kennel. He has an outgoing but calm personality. Dom walks great on leash and has no problem with stairs or slick floors. No accidents in the house and will whine when he needs to go outside. Very well mannered and pays attention when corrected.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Carroll family of Greenville 2/3/18

Shania just arrived from the Bushey Kennel at the Melbourne Race Track. She also raced at Orange Park in Jacksonville. She raced 74 races at the lower levels of racing. Shania mainly just placed, but did win 5 of those races. She is a tiny white female with black spots that raced at just 54lbs. She turned 3 on October 19th. Her sire is the famous Djays Octane and her dam is Kane's Sugar Ray. Shania has been a little overwhelmed since she arrived. She seems like a sensitive, cautious girl that just needs a little time to warm up to new people and new situations. She is friendly and does cautiously approach strangers with her tail a little tucked at first. She seems like she will warm up fast. Shania did not pass her cat test. She did lose interest in a still cat eventually, but kept wanting to chase it whenever it moved, so we think she needs a home without kitties. She was similar with the little dogs she met, but did do better eventually after being around the one in her foster home for awhile, so she may do better with time. She just has a hard time resisting anything that is small that moves fast at first.

He is still young and won't turn 3 until June 6th. His sire is the famous Lonesome Cry and his dam is Atascocita Avery. He is a very outgoing, happy, boy with a tail that wags happily all the time. He does need some work on his leash walking because he is so curious about everything and wants to go check out everything. Brody passed his cat and small dog tests easily. Nokerr had no official races. We did find 6 schooling races at Palm Beach Race Track for her and she finished toward the back of the pack in those. Nokerr retired very young and won't even turn two until April 20th. She raced at 60lbs. Her sire is Coldwater Konow and her dam is TB's Star Baby. She was initially very interested in the cat she saw but after the cat slapped her once she backed off. She cautiously went up for another sniff and got slapped again. Then she stayed as far away from the cat as she could. So we think she may be trainable with a confident cat and plenty of supervision. Nokerr did great with an Italian Greyhound in her foster home so should be OK with small dogs. Initially she was very vocal in her kennel when she first arrived but corrected well and has quieted down now. Nokerr may not be a good choice for apartment living, because she has sounded the alarm when she sees someone outside that she doesn't think should be there. She does sleep all night by herself in her kennel so may do fine as an only dog. She walks nicely on leash and did great on her first walk in the park. She is friendly with people she meets and seems pretty calm for one that is so young.

Alexa just arrived from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. She actually had 5 maiden races at Derby Lane first, but came in toward the back of the pack every time. Just too slow, so was moved to Orlando in hopes she would be more competitive there. She schooled a few times there and was retired without an official race. Alexa is a pretty white girl with fawn (tan) spots. She raced at 63lbs and won't turn 2 until March 4th so is very young. Her sire is the famous Djays Octane and her dam is Penrose Karrie. She was interested in the cat she met at the race track, but we retested here and she just sniffed the cat. When the cat slapped her she wouldn't go near it again and just wanted to get out of the room. She was curious and a little playful when introduced to the small dog but was intimidated by the yappy little dogs at the vet's office. She seems like a sensitive girl that is a little unsure of everything new right now. More as we get to know her.

Adoption Status: Adopted to the Foster family 1/20/18

Cord came to us from a Florida farm where he has been living since he retired from racing in March of 2016. He had been waiting over a year and a half for a group to take him. He only raced 36 races in Palm Beach and only actually won 2 of those. Cord turned 4 on June 20th. His sire is the famous Craigie Whistler and his dam is Atascocita Miama, He was owned by Atascocita Racing which is why that is the first part of his name. Cord has a very old break to his back right leg that is long healed and shouldn't cause him any problems as a pet. He can play normally but does have a slight limp so probably would prefer shorter walks rather than long hikes. Cord travels well and just got in the van and laid down. He potties on leash nicely so may do fine without a fenced yard, if someone was willing to leash walk him. He is very quiet so may be good for a townhouse or apartment. He seems like a very calm, well behaved guy that is calmly friendly. Cord liked the children he met and was fine even with a cat running past him. Cord seems to be exceptionally low prey drive and had no interest even in chinchillas he lived with. He did great at a doggy daycare with even the smaller dogs. Cord is very laid back and is perfectly happy laying on his bed watching things going on around him and doesn't need to be the center of attention. After Cord gets comfortable with his family he is playful.

Kolby is a large 83lb male that had a very long racing career of 237 races. It is pretty rare for a greyhound to still be competitive after their 5th birthday and Kolby turned 5 on November 4th. He had a career that was much longer than most. He raced at Orange Park most of the time and raced at A and B level most of his career there so was good. When he started to slow down a bit he was moved to Sanford Orlando Race Track in 2016 in hopes he would still be competitive there. He was retired after a little over a year there. His sire is Dutch Drummer and his dam is Dutch Sweet Kate. Kolby is a sweet fairly calm guy. He passed his cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live with either. He was more interested in getting attention from the people than the cat or the small fluffy dog.

Shorty just arrived from the Brindle Kennel. Her last race was at the Flagler track on 10/27/17 where she broke her leg. She was casted by a vet at the track and wore it there at the track for 6 weeks. She has been released from vet care and is doing well on the leg. She is a red female that just turned 3 on Dec 17th. She raced at 62lbs. Her sire is SH Avatar and her dam is KL's Shannon. Our vet checked Shorty and her leg is stable so she feels like it has healed well. Shorty still holds it up sometimes when standing, but can get around on it just fine. She may continue to have a slight limp on it or favor it just a little, but she should be able to run around and have fun like any other dog. Shorty is very sweet and likes the kids in her foster home. Shorty passed her cat and small dog tests easily and seemed a little afraid of the cat. She is very affectionate and sweet too.

Kahlua came in from the Brindle Kennel at Palm Beach. She raced 44 races and also raced at Southland in Arkansas and Mardi Gras in Florida. She briefly got up to A level. She raced at 66lbs and turned 3 on October 17th. Kahlua is a very very tall leggy girl that was taller than the 77lb male that she arrived with. She is white with just a couple of dark red spots that nearly look brown. She is just stunning! Her sire is Djays Octane and her dam is KL's Tasha. She walked through the lobby of the vet's office that was full of small dogs and didn't pay much attention to them and is being fostered with a small white dog so she should be OK to live with small dogs. She also passed her cat test and even when the cat ran through the house didn't show any interest in chasing. She is a bit unsure of herself at first and will approach with her head lowered submissively but she is friendly and wants petting. She will lean up against you and give the greyhound hug. We also think we saw a small grin once when she got excited. She seems like a pretty calm girl that traveled well.

Topsy just arrived from a farm in Tampa. He has no races listed so just didn't show much promise as a racer when he was in schooling. He turned 2 on April 21st. His sire is Atascocita Bowl and his dam is Atascocita Hush. Topsy is a medium sized guy that is very sweet. He loves people and loves to snuggle. Topsy has a wonderful, friendly, happy personality. He is a gorgeous deep red with cute ears that stand straight up when he is checking something out. Topsy was too interested in the first cat he was tested with, so we had him listed as needing a home with no cats. We gave him some time and retested him with another cat and was fine with that cat. Sometimes they calm down a bit after retirement. We think he is likely to be trainable now with supervision and can introduce him to your individual cat to see how he reacts. Topsy lived with some 35lb medium sized dogs in his first foster home and was fine with them. He met a toy poodle and a chihuahua and was friendly and appropriate with them too.  He is wonderful with children and is being fostered in a home with several kids and loves to play with them and snuggle with them. Topsy is calm and very well behaved in the house. He does get excited to check everything out and to greet everyone when on walks so we are working on his leash skills. He travels great and loves to go for rides. This cute guy will make a wonderful happy companion.

He raced at 73lbs. Steady is a friendly guy that seems to like everyone. He seems very happy and curious about things. He is a pretty tall guy for just weighing 73lbs and he is gorgeous and shiny. Steady passed his small dog test and his cat test easily so should be fine to live with either. So far he has been very quiet in his kennel, so he may be a good dog for apartment living. Indy came in from the Alves Kennel at the Daytona track. She also raced a few races at Orange Park in Florida. Her racing owner is a friend of our group's and she asked if we would find her an adoptive home. Indy is a tiny girl that raced at just 53lbs. She only raced 10 races and always finished towards the back of the pack. Her first 3 races she was so far back she wasn't even in the picture, so she was retired right away. Indy just turned 2 on November 6th so is very young. Her sire is Hi Noon Renegade and her dam is SL Wolfgang. Indy passed her small dog test easily and is being fostered with a small white dog. She also passed her cat test. She seemed like she had met a cat before and cautiously avoided going near it at all. Indy is pretty outgoing, happy and curious about everything. We are working on her leash skills because she pulls some. She is normally very quiet and well behaved in her kennel, once she got used to it, but occasionally she can complain a bit so we think she probably would be too loud for apartment living. Indy is loving and gives gentle kisses. She is a natural sitter and you will see her sitting on dog beds frequently which is unusual because many greyhounds are uncomfortable in that position. Indy is a very sweet little girl.

Life came to us from the Melbourne Track and initially arrived on April 17th of 2016. He has been in a home for over a year, since right after he arrived. Life was returned to us because his family's living arrangements changed and he had been put outside. He was not happy living in their backyard - greyhounds are indoor pets only. Life is a mid sized boy that raced at 71lbs. He turned 6 on April 8th. His sire is Rhythmless and his dam is As She Is Basra. Life had 183 races to his credit and raced at many different tracks and traveled around a lot. He raced at Dubuque in IA, then Mardi Gras in FL, back to Dubuque, then back to Mardi Gras, then back to Dubuque and back again to Mardi Gras. Then on to Naples Ft-Myers and on to Flagler and finally Melbourne, all in Florida. In spite of all that racing he wasn't all that good and was going from track to track in hopes he would be competitive at one of them. He raced mainly at the lower levels. When he just didn't do well at any of the tracks he was eventually retired. Life is a gorgeous, sweet, friendly boy. He didn't pass his cat test so needs a home without them but did fine with the small dog he met. Because Life lived in a home for a year already he is already home acclimated. He is a wonderful guy with a great personality.

Shock just arrived from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He only had one official race there though and raced at Derby Lane in FL, Southland in Arkansas, and Bluffs Run in IA before that. He was actually pretty good getting up to B level at the top Race Track, Southland, briefly. Then for some reason he just dropped to the lowest D level even after being moved down to slower less competitive tracks. It looks like he would just give in to the other dogs if they wanted to take the lead. Although he traveled a good bit from track to track he seemed to be pretty stressed by the trip up from Florida. He rides well though and just got in and laid down for another 3 hour trip to Atlanta and didn't seem stressed at all then. He seems like a sensitive guy that is calm and well behaved. He is very quiet in his crate. His trainer says he always kept his crate clean and was a very good with the other dogs, just a very nice guy. Shock passed his cat and small dog tests easily without much interest in either and doesn't even seem interested in chasing birds and squirrels in the yard. His sire is KC And All and his dam is Competing Forces. Shock has settled into foster care quickly and never tried to mark in the house once. He went out to a very busy fair and was totally fine with all the people and noise around him and heeled politely the entire time. He liked the people and kids that came up to him to pet him. His foster mom thinks he would be an excellent therapy dog or service dog candidate because of his calm easy going nature and because he seemed so comfortable in a loud busy environment.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Young Family of Columbia SC 12/21/17

Skorsky's litter was all named for the characters in the Netflix series House of Cards. We already placed her brother Frank Underwood. She raced 71 races at the Sanford Orlando Race Track in the Bolton Kennel. She got up to A level briefly. Her last race was in early September and she didn't do well, so her trainer gave her a break from racing in hopes she would do better. She is so timid that her trainer figured that something had scared Skorsky. They have tried her in a couple of schooling races in hopes of getting her back into racing, but her heart is still not in it, so they decided to just retired her. Skorsky raced at 68lbs and turned 3 on October 29th. She is a stocky muscular girl. Her sire is KC and All and her dam is D's Honey Badger. She can be a little standoffish with strangers, but once she warms up is really sweet and playful. Her foster home says she is very sensitive to body language and she can't approach Skorsky directly without her shying away. She is food motivated and will take treats from her hand though. Skorsky walks well on leash and will potty on leash although she keeps her eye on her foster mom and is more comfortable if she is not facing her. She likes her crate and chooses to spend time in an open crate. She is the typical genetically shy greyhound, like shy people they just need time to warm up. Skorsky will need a family that is OK with her even if she never becomes a social butterfly. She was interested in the cats when she met them but corrected easily. She is fostered with several cats so her foster mom is getting her used to being around them and believes she will be fine with supervision.

Bentley raced a 181 races at Orange Park in Florida and won 32 of those races. He was a very good racer that raced at the top A level for most of his career. He competed in Stakes races for the best dogs at the track. He raced at 68lbs and turned 8 on May 28th. Bentley's sire is Oya Tom Terrific and his dam is GS Flame. Bentley has been in an adoptive home for some time now but he was re-homed by one of his owners due to a divorce. The adoption group that placed him initially has asked if we could re-home him for them. Bentley was checked by our vet, is healthy and received a fresh dental. His vaccines are all up to date and he has obviously had great care by his previous family. Bentley is a very sweet boy that is friendly and happy. He was around small kids from 2 to 10 at the race kennel so is used to being around them. He loves the kids in his foster home now. Bentley has lived with cats and is fine with small dogs. He is already home acclimated and ready to meet his new family. Bentley is sweet and silly and playful and has no idea that he is 8 years old. He is a great snuggler and wants to be in your lap or at least have some part of his body on you. He is very very loving. He has had no accidents in his foster home and is exceptionally well behaved. He is fine when left out of the crate unsupervised and doesn't get into anything. This is a great guy and so handsome.

Great news for Bentley! One of his previous owners didn't know Bentley had been turned over to us to re-home. He had intended to come back to get him all along and had been out of town when Bentley was turned over to us. Bentley is thrilled to be back with his family and we were thrilled to be able to reunite them.

Nosey was even a finalist in the 2010 Wheeling WVGOBA Middle Distance Championship. She raced 74 races and finished up her career in January of 2013. Nosey went back to the farm to become a mom and had 6 puppies in 2014 and 4 more in 2015 that are registered and racing now. She probably had more that are still too young to race. Nosey is a cute red girl that raced at 64lbs and will celebrate her 9th birthday on November 24th. She definitely doesn't look her age. Her sire is the famous Flying Penske and her dam is Myokie Flame. She is a very friendly girl that loves to snuggle with her people. Very very sweet and doing well in foster care. She passed her small dog test easily and was OK with some cats she met but has been somewhat interested in some others so we think she may be trainable and just needs to meet and get used to being around cats. Liam has been retired since April and went back to his farm until they found a group that could take him. His sire is the famous Lonesome Cry and his dam is Atascocita Sofia. Liam was fine with the small dog he met but still needs tested with cats. He was a little overwhelmed when he arrived and seems like he may be a sensitive little guy. Willow is a beautiful, tall, dark red, girl that is all leg. She is very tall for a girl and was even taller than some of the boys she arrived with. Willow is very young and won't turn 2 until February 6th. She had a minor muscle tear on her inner thigh while on the farm so they decided not to send her to race. This will not bother her at all and she could have actually raced even after this type of injury because it would only slow her down the tiniest bit. Because she never raced she doesn't have a racing weight but we would guess her to be around 68lbs. Her sire is RCK Trail Blazer and her dam is NAD Gypsy. Willow is still puppyish and needs some work on walking on leash and basic manners like not jumping on people. She loves to jump up and give hugs. Because she is young she may be a bit higher energy still. She passed her small dog test and just wanted to play with the little dog. She still needs to be cat tested and tested with small kids. Willow is a very happy friendly girl. She is pretty quiet in her kennel. More as we get to know her.

Fernandos came in from the Brindle Kennel at the Palm Beach Race Track. He also raced at Naples Ft Myers, Flagler and Mardi Gras. He raced 180 races at 75lbs. He was pretty good and did get up to the top A level. His sire is the very famous Dodgem By Design and his dam is Auntie Anne. Fernandos turned 5 on May the 14th. He has the most beautiful, shiny, black coat and cute ears that stand straight up when he is curious about something. One of his littermates took a bite out of one of his ears when they were puppies, so he is missing the very tip of one ear. Fernandos passed his initial cat test easily with no interest, but he just never was able to get used to just 1 of the 7 cats in his first home, so if placed with cats he would need a home with a confident cat. He is one of the greyhound grinners that smiles when he is happy or excited. We would prefer not to place him with small kids because he can be grumpy about his space when he is laying down. Fernandos is not the most confident boy, although he pretends to be. With confident people leading walks he is relaxed and leans against your leg if something makes him nervous. He was nervous of other breeds approaching and would bark protectively. We have been working on that and can take him to busy areas downtown on walks with no barking now. He is very friendly and is a leaner that leans in to give the famous greyhound hug. Fernandos is used to having his teeth brushed every day and likes it. He is very very good and quiet in his kennel. The only time he is loud is when he hears the siren of an emergency vehicle, then he sings along. When you first come home he will roo because he is happy to see you. He is a very good singer that does a very sad sounding rooooooo. Fernandos walks great on leash. He is a very laid back, well behaved guy in the house and doesn't do much running or playing in the fenced yard so doesn't require one.

Corda is a small black female that raced at 56lbs. She retired from the Orange Park Race Track. She only raced 10 races there and only won the first one. After that she mainly came in toward the back of the pack so she was quickly retired. She just turned 2 October 10th. Her sire is Flying Westover and her dam is Atascocita Doris. She is owned by Atascocita Racing which is how she got her first name. She is a friendly, happy, little girl that is already one of her foster mom's favorite fosters ever. Her foster mom says Corda is a sweet girl that is so loving that she follows her around the house. Whenever you stop and look at her she rolls over for belly rubs. She adores the children in her foster home and snuggles with them ever chance she gets. She gets along well with their dogs both large and small.

Beast is a tall, handsome, 79lb, brindle male with a white chest and feet that was originally adopted directly from a Derby Lane racing kennel in Florida. Because of a change in their living arrangements, his adoptive owners have asked us for assistance finding him a new home. Beast also raced at the Southland Track in Arkansas briefly. He raced 103 races and got up to the top A level. His last race was October 5th of 2015 and he has been in an adoptive home since then. Beast turned 5 on August 23rd. His sire is BD's Grayson and his dam is Flying Havana. He is a friendly, confident guy that loves to go for rides in the car. He was living with small dogs in his previous home and in his current foster home and gets along great with them. He showed no interest in the cats at the vet's office. Beast crates wonderfully and quietly. His owner says he hasn't really been around children but he can be a little grumpy about being bothered when sleeping so we think he would do better with older kids that would understand not to bother him then. We got Beast neutered and gave him a fresh dental and heart worm test and got his vaccinations up to date so he is freshly vetted and ready to go home. He is a very sweet guy that hasn't seemed stressed at all by being rehomed. He is happy and has taken everything in stride. Seems like a very well behaved boy.

Beast was adopted by the family that owns his mother Flying Havana. They were reunited right after she was diagnosed with bone cancer.

Frank just came in from the Birmingham Race Course. He also raced at Southland in Arkansas. He was a very good racer that got up to A level. Frank is a very special boy that is a one of a kind. He has a slightly crooked nose and has a lower canine that sticks out one side because of his crooked nose. One of his ears is slightly longer than the other and he has half a tail. We think this just makes him cuter and so does he. He was a kennel favorite because of this and his sweet personality and is used to getting lots of love and attention from everyone that came in the kennel. He is an extra large guy that raced at 84lbs and is a gentle giant. Frank is calm and sweet and seems to like everyone from adults to kids. He had a little initial interest in the cat he met, but corrected easily so we think he would easily be trainable with cats. Frank turned 3 on October 29th and yes his entire litter was named after characters in the Netflix series House Of Cards. He travels really well and just got in the van and laid down and went to sleep on the trip over from Birmingham.

Chili just arrived from the Birmingham Race Track Adoption Kennel. She didn't actually race there though and was just sent there to get on one of their dog hauls to adoption groups across the country. She raced 85 races at Palm Beach, Flagler, Naples Ft Myers, and Mardi Gras race tracks. She got up to B level but mainly ran at the lower levels. She is a very tiny red girl and her records say she raced at 58lbs but she looks too tiny to be that weight. Her sire is Aerial Battle and her dam is Elaborate Eva. Chili just turned 3 on October 14th. She did not pass her cat test so needs a home without cats. She has done fine with a small Italian Greyhound she met but had some mixed results with other small dogs so needs a careful introduction and the opportunity to sniff them so she doesn't mistake them for squirrels or bunnies. Chili is a very friendly cute girl. We were told she is very quiet in her crate and very calm. She was picked out especially for someone that lived in an apartment and needed a quiet dog.

Her sire is Makeshift and her dam is Nightingale. Home Girl turned 3 on July 30th. She is a beautiful darker brindle female with a deep mahogany with black striping. She has the cutest little ears that  Home Girl is very quiet in her crate and we never heard one whine or bark from her. She is very calm and well behaved too. Home Girl was too interested in chasing kitties to be able to live with them but she did great with the small dog and children she met. She seems very devoted to people and didn't even want to go outside with the other dogs in her foster home. She preferred to stay inside with the people.

Princess arrived from a kennel closing at the Orlando Race Track in June. She also raced at Orange Park in Jacksonville FL. Princess raced 29 races and only won two of those, so she retired pretty quickly. She is a 60lb brindle female that will turn 3 on December 10th. Her sire is Dragon Fire and her dam is Super C Ashley. Princess is a happy, friendly girl that loves everyone she meets. She is too interested in cats to be able to live with them. She did fine meeting an Italian Greyhound and Cocker Spaniel, and other non-greyhounds.  She gets along very well with other greyhounds. Princess is very loving and affectionate.  She loves having her ears and neck rubbed. She crates good and has done well with housetraining.  She is nice to walk and would be a great walking, hiking, or jogging companion.  She is a dog that does need some activity each day.  She loves to go places so she is a great dog to take to the park or to hit the trails with.  She is also very food motivated and smart so she would be very easy to train.  She has been introduced to clicker training. She is fully vetted and ready to go home.
