Adoption Status: Adopted by the Oglsby family of Augusta, GA, 4/6/19

Blink just came in from the Birmingham Race Course Adoption Kennel. She raced there and also at Southland, Sanford Orlando and Orange Park. Although she raced 110 races she wasn't very good and raced mainly at the lower levels of racing and placed rather than winning most of the time. She was moved around to the different tracks in hopes of finding somewhere she would be competitive. She raced at 64lbs and turned 4 on December 11th. Blink did not pass her cat test so needs a home with no kitties. She does have a higher prey drive and wanted to chase a very tiny dog that only weighed 4lbs too. She was fine with a white Italian greyhound that was 15lbs though and a pug that was over 20lbs so should be fine with medium sized dogs or larger. She is outgoing and happy. Seems to be very sweet. She liked the small kids she met. She travels very well and crates nicely. At some point in her life, Blink had to have a front toe taken off so she is missing one. It doesn't seem to bother her and she was able to race without it.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Graham Family of Greenville SC, 4.3.19

Virg just arrived from Double J Kennel at Orange Park Race Track in Florida. He is a tiny white male with brindle spots. He raced at only 63lbs. Virg only raced 29 races. He was racing well and had just gotten up to A level when he injured himself and pulled up back on June 25th of 2018. He was rested and didn't return to racing until December 21st. Since then, he always finished toward the back of the pack, so he was retired permanently. Virg is an active guy that is very outgoing. He gets so excited that he jumps on people so we are working on that. He passed his cat and small dog tests with a lot of curious sniffing. He backed off and acted like his feelings were hurt when the cat slapped him. His sire is the famous KC and All and his dam is Erika Of Ruckus. More as we get to know him.

Cat Tolerance:

Small Dog Tolerance:

Good w/ Children:

Fostered by (location):
Cole, Columbia SC Area
Adoption Status: Adopted by the Searles Family of Summerfield NC 4/2/19

Talkin is a handsome black male that raced at 71lbs. He is very young and won't turn 2 until April 9th. He only raced 11 races at Orange Park in Florida. He did win two of those races early on, but finished his last race so far back that he wasn't even in the picture. Talkin is a sensitive guy that is a bit timid and seemed stressed by everything new in his life when he arrived. He is going to need some time to get comfortable in a new home. Talkin passed his cat and small dog tests easily with little interest in either so should be fine to live in a home with cats or small dogs. Talkin was adopted and in his first home for only a week before being returned to us. He was stressed there as an only dog and wasn't comfortable being alone for the first time in his life. He may need a home with other dogs and will definitely need more than a week in a home to get comfortable. Talkin's sire is My Bro Fabio and his dam is Superior Kotton. More as we get to know this sweet shy boy.

Yolo Paradise

Pet/Kennel Name:
Paradise
Age:
5 months
Color/Gender:
Black Female Puppy
Cat Tolerance:
Testing
Small Dog Tolerance:
No
Good w/ Children:
Older Children Only
Fostered by (location):
Johnson, Greenville SC
Adoption Status: Adopted by the Phillips Family of Knoxville TN, 3.31.19

Paradise is a greyhound puppy that was sent to the Birmingham Race Course Adoption Kennel with her brother. We are pretty sure that she and her brother were retired due to the vote in Florida to end racing. They don't appear to have anything wrong with them that would prevent them from being racers when they grow up. Paradise is a beautiful tiny black female that still has a lot of growing to do. Probably about half the size she will eventually be. She is VERY outgoing and sweet. Very excitable and VERY active. We have her listed as no small dogs or small children because she immediately jumps on them and tries to get them to play. She isn't aggressive at all, just too playful and wild. She knocked the toddlers she met down and scratched them. She did the same with the small dog she met. She is not like the calm, adult greyhounds we are used to. Puppies are very sweet but very wild and hyper like any other puppy and quickly get to full sized. Imagine a 60lb puppy that can run 45mph and likes to run and play most of the day. Greyhound puppies aren't for everyone. They need training, socialization and lots of daily exercise every day to drain their energy and teach them good manners. Paradise had not worn a collar or a leash until we got her so still has a lot to learn. She is very smart and is already learning to fetch a ball and is starting to walk better on leash instead of laying down and refusing to move like she did at first. She will need a dog experienced home that has training experience because a 5 month old dog that has never been in a home before and has no manners at all is challenging. She has been crate trained and is very good in her crate. She travels well in her crate as well. Puppies require a large fenced yard to play in. Paradise loves to chase balls and loves chasing toys.

Fostered by (location):
Johnson, Greenville SC
Adoption Status: Adopted by the Phillips Family of Knoxville TN, 3.31.19

Paragraph is a black male greyhound puppy that is only 5 months old. He was born on October 1st. He came in with his sister Yolo Paradise. His sire is Fiesta Paraguas and his dam is Bella Fuitzy. His owner just decided not to race some of the puppies in his litter and put them in pet homes instead. Probably as a result of Florida voting to stop racing as of the beginning of 2021- right when these pups would be going to the track to race. Greyhound puppies are expensive to raise properly and with over half the tracks in the country in Florida closing there will be a shortage of tracks for these pups to race at by the time they are old enough. Paragraph is a friendly, hyper puppy that is going to be a handful. He has not been leash or collar trained, has no house training or manners training at all yet but we are working on that. He was raised on a farm and has never been in a house or had the track training that the typical retired racers have. He has been living at the Birmingham Race Course adoption kennel for a couple of weeks so has had some crate training there. Paragraph is wild, hyper and playful like any other puppy, but he weighs around 50lbs and will be around 70lbs in a few months. Greyhound puppies are not the calm couch potatoes like the adults we are used to. Puppies need to run and play most of the day and need a lot of training, socialization and work on manners. They need plenty of room to run in a large fenced yard. Paragraph will need a home that has dog and puppy experience. Because of his size and rough play we would prefer to place him in a home with older children or no children. He would accidentally knock down a toddler in his excitement even though he wouldn't hurt a child on purpose. Paragraph is a very sensitive guy that gets overwhelmed and scared easily. After a week he still isn't liking wearing a collar and still shies away from hands that reach for his collar. He still freezes on leash and doesn't want to walk. He seems like new things bother him and that it takes him a long time to process change. He is a very sweet boy that wants petting and love but is a bit on the timid side at the same time. He will still come up to new people and jump on them and act crazy when the other puppies do, but is a bit more timid by himself.

Yolo Fired Up
Racing Name:
Yolo Fired Up
Pet/Kennel Name:
Fired Up
Age:
6 months
Color/Gender:
Black Male
Cat Tolerance:
Yes
Small Dog Tolerance:
Yes
Good w/ Children:
Older Children Only
Fostered by (location):
Johnson, Greenville SC
Adoption Status: Adopted by the Hayes family of Greenville SC, 3.31.19

Fired Up arrived with two other puppies Paradise and Paragraph but isn't from the same litter. He is a shiny black boy that is slightly older than the other puppies being born on on September 18th. His sire is Flying Fired Up and his dam is Fiesta Pauline. He is a wild, friendly puppy that is around 50lbs and will get up into the 70s most likely in the next couple of months. His owner decided not to race the pups probably due to racing being ended in Florida and most of the race tracks in the country shutting down. Greyhound puppies are very expensive to raise and train for the race track when it is unlikely they will have tracks to race at when they are old enough to race. Fired Up has had none of the training the retired racers get and has just been on a farm running and playing with this littermates so far. He has not been collar or leash trained yet. He has had no potty training or manners training and has never been in a house before. He was at the Birmingham Race Course adoption kennel for a few weeks so has had a little bit of crate training there. Greyhound puppies need large fence yards with plenty of room to run. Fired Up will need a home with dog training experience and puppy experience that is willing to work with him to teach him all the things he needs to know to be a good pet. Because he is a big, excitable, wild puppy, he needs a home with older kids or no kids. He is just too wild and rough to live with toddlers that he could knock down. Greyhound puppies are wild and hyper like any other puppy but are bigger than most and can run at nearly 45mph so can be much more destructive than most puppies. They are nothing like the calm, well behaved, adult couch potatoes we typically get when we get retired racers. More as we get to know him. Fired Up is a happy, friendly guy. He is picking up on collar and leash training very fast. He still resists going in his crate but crates pretty well once he is in there. He does like to bark and is pretty vocal. He will happily bark to get your attention when playing and will bark in his crate if not corrected. He corrects very easily. He is learning not to jump on people and seems to be a fast learner. He is very sweet and will just stand next to you for love for a long time. He seems pretty calm for a greyhound puppy. He still loves to play and run though and needs a lot of exercise. He is doing good with the 15lb Italian greyhound in his foster home that lets him know that he doesn't want to play with him. Fired up does play pretty rough, so would have to have a lot of supervision and rules about playing gently with small dogs if he goes to a home with small dogs just because of his size and activity level.

Doug Stamper
Racing Name:
Doug Stamper
Pet/Kennel Name:
Duke
Age:
4
Color/Gender:
Red Male
Cat Tolerance:
No
Small Dog Tolerance:
No
Good w/ Children:
Yes
Fostered by (location):
Owens (Greenwood, SC)
Adoption Status: Adopted by the Gaddy Family of Charlotte, 3.30.19

Doug Stamper's litter was named for the characters on the Netflix series House of Cards. We placed several dogs in his litter Frank Underwood, Heather Dunbar, and Skorsky. He was called Doug at the track but his first family called him Duke. Duke is a really big red male that raced at 86lbs but now weighs around 100lbs. He needs to lose quite a few pounds so has been on a diet since his return. He turned 4 on October 29th. Duke raced 89 races, mostly at the lower C and D levels but did get up to A one time. He raced at Derby Lane and Orlando tracks. His sire is the famous KC and All and his dam is D's Honey Badger. Duke is a friendly, happy guy that has been in an adoptive home for a year. He seems to love men the most and was very attached to the man in his current family. He loved playing fetch with him and just loves chasing tennis balls. He got way too excited when meeting a cat so needs a home without cats. He was fine with a 15lb Italian Greyhound after he was allowed to sniff him thoroughly, but Duke sometimes mistakes smaller dogs for rabbits or squirrels without a proper introduction. Duke likes to play with other dogs and is such a big dog that he would probably do best with a larger dog that was OK with rough play. He seems like a natural leader that can be a bit bossy so would do best with another dog that needed a confident dog. He may also be fine as an only dog. He has liked the kids he has met. He is smart and figured out potty training immediately. Duke also knows other commands like "wait" and has been very good in his home. Duke loves to travel and meet people. He is very quiet and was fostered in a townhouse initially so may be OK for apartment or townhouse living. He is good on leash.

Talley just arrived from a farm in Arkansas. She raced 76 races at Wheeling Downs, Southland and Derby Lane. She did get up to A level briefly at Derby Lane and Wheeling so was pretty good. She retired from racing in December of 2016 and was sent back to the farm to be a mom. She had her first litter of 3 pups August of 2017 and they have just started their racing careers. Those are the only puppies registered but she has at least one other litter that was just weaned and maybe another one that hasn't been registered yet. Talley is a sweet girl that raced at 67lbs. She just turned 6 on March 14th. Her sire is Tyrur Alex and her dam is PTL Scarlet. Talley passed her cat test with just a little initial curiosity. She seemed fine with the small dog she met too. She crates very well and is quiet in her kennel. She travels well and just got in our van and laid down and went to sleep. She is really sweet and seemed to like the small kids she met. More as we get to know her.

Pet/Kennel Name:

Cat Tolerance:
Trainable
Small Dog Tolerance:
Yes
Good w/ Children:

Fostered by (location):
Bowden, Greenville SC
Adoption Status: Adopted by the Simpson Family of Monroe NC 3/18/19

Sweet Senior! Kwanza was a super star when he was racing. He was the Winner of the 2010 Wheeling WVGOBA Middle Distance Championship and placed 3rd in the 2010 Tri-State WVGOBA Open Sprint. He raced 80 races at Tri-State and Wheeling winning at the top A and AA levels and competing in many Stakes races reserved for the best racers at those tracks. He was retired from racing in December of 2011 and has been at his owners farm since then. He had to have a toe amputated on his front foot at some point which is pretty common in pet greyhounds if they dislocate or break a toe. It is long healed and isn't even noticeable unless you are counting toes. Since the painful toe was removed there is nothing there to cause pain and he can run and play normally. Kwanza did sire one litter of pups back in 2015 but they weren't great racers like he was, so it doesn't look like he sired any more pups after that. He has been just hanging out at the farm as a pet until now. Kwanza raced at 72lbs and is short and stocky. His sire is Larking About and his dam is Myokie Flame. We already placed two half sisters Rico's Tignanello and Rico's By A Nose (also same mom). Kwanza will turn 11 on January 31st. Since Kwanza is a senior guy over 8 he qualifies for our reduced adoption fee of $250. Kwanza passed his cat tests with some initial interest that only lasted until the cat slapped him. Then we couldn't pull him back to the cat. We think he would be easily trainable with a confident cat. Kwanza walks perfectly on a loose leash and doesn't pull. He gets along really well with other greyhounds. He has been completely vetted and had a dental and a few tooth extractions. Kwanza was placed in an adoptive home in October but has been returned due to having accidents in the house. Our vet checked him and he just has a urinary tract infection, which is being treated with antibiotics. He will be available for adoption after our vet has retested to make sure he is clear of infection. Kwanza is a bit of a marker due to living on a farm his entire life and being able to potty whenever and wherever he wanted to. He will need training and supervision in any new place to learn where he is allowed to go.

His last race was October 20th and he was at the track since then. Most likely was being rehabbed from a minor injury that happened in his last race in hopes he could return safely to racing but when that didn't happen he was finally retired. Theo raced at 69lbs and turned 2 on Jan 9th. His sire is TMC's Remedy and his dam is Braska Faver. Bison likes to stand up and see where he is going in the car and would love to be allowed to drive. Fox came in initially from the CTW kennel in Wheeling WV. He is a cute little red male that raced at 69lbs. He turned 5 on September 18th. His sire is CTW Base Camp and his Dam is CTW Melodramatic. Fox is a calm, quiet male. He is pretty good on leash and well behaved. He is a happy sweet boy that should be an easy addition to any family. So handsome too. He is doing great with the small white italian Greyhound in his foster home and was afraid of the cat he met and wouldn't go near it. Fox travels very well and just gets in the car and lays down calmly. He is very snuggly and loves people. After being in an adoptive home for nearly two years Fox mistook an outside cat for a bunny or a squirrel and killed it, so is now looking for another home. We stress to adopters that no greyhound should ever be trusted outside with cats because they could mistake a cat in the bushes for something else. Greyhounds are only good with indoor kitties and shouldn't ever be around outside cats. Fox is still fine with indoor kitties but because of this mistake he has to find a home with no cats at all.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Marks family, 3.09.19

Eugene just arrived from a Florida farm where he has been living since he retired from racing in March of 2018. He raced mainly at the lower levels but did get up to B level a few times in his 57 races. He raced most of his career at D'Arcy Kennels at Derby Lane, but also raced briefly at Gulf. Most 4 year olds would have a lot more races. Eugene was taken out of racing for a year from December 5th of 2016 and not put back into racing until Nov of 2017 after a collision and fall in a race. He went back and had 15 more races after his year long break. Eugene is a gorgeous 71lb black male. He is the sweetest, most gentle boy, that gives kisses to humans and other dogs alike when he meets them. He passed his cat test easily and has been fine with a small dog too. He likes kids and everyone else he meets. He pulls on leash some, curiously checking things out. He is a calm guy in the house though and very well behaved. He crates really well but does whine sometimes, so probably wouldn't be quiet enough for townhouse or apartment living. At the track, some of the other boys would bully him and he didn't even defend himself. His track trainers ended up always turning him out with one or two other gentle boys like him, rather than with the larger pack of more rowdy males. Eugene will turn 4 on September 26th. His Sire is Makeshift and his dam is Celtic Dream.

Quirky came in from the Birmingham Track Adoption Kennel. He was a good racer there racing most of his 178 races at the top A level. He is a larger guy that raced at 80lbs. He will turn 8 on December 15th. His sire is an Irish import Ballymac Flight* and his dam is BD's Harper. Quirky did not pass his cat test so needs a home with no kitties. He did respond OK to the small dog he was tested with and realized quickly that it was a dog and not a bunny. Quirky's was initially fostered in a townhouse and was very quiet in his crate there. He was briefly in another apartment home and complained about being left there, so may not be a great apartment dog. He is a very easy, calm guy that would be great for a first time greyhound owner. He is a sweet guy that loves people. Great personality! Quirky has been in a home for 4 years. For a couple years he was living as an only dog, then they adopted another male greyhound, Ryan. Both boys were recently returned to us by because his family decided that they no longer wanted to have dogs. They said it absolutely was not a problem with either of the dogs, they were good dogs. We had a home wanting to adopt two bonded dogs together, so Ryan and Quirky are being fostered by her and will stay permanently if all goes well.

Ryan inititally came in from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He is a cute white boy with brindle patches over his ears and eyes and a patch on his side. He is a smaller guy that raced at 64lbs. He just turned 5 on May 3rd. His sire is Flying Westover and his dam is A Bar Seclusion. He raced 47 races at Tri State in WV and Sanford Orlando before he retired. Ryan is very outgoing and sweet. He wasn't bothered at all by the move from the track and adapted quickly to home life. He seems pretty easy going and confident. Ryan was adopted in 2016 by a family and has lived with them for 2 years. They recently decided they didn't want the responsibility of dogs anymore and returned Ryan along with his housemate Quirky. They said the dogs were very good and it wasn't anything the dogs did wrong that caused them to be returned, they just didn't want dogs anymore. Fortunately we had a home looking for two dogs to adopt together so both boys have been moved to her. They will stay with her permanently if all goes well.

We place another boy from an earlier litter from the same mom named Karl Malden. Sally is friendly and curious about everything. She was too curious about the cat and interested in chasing it so needs a home with no kitties. Liv just arrived with her brother Surprise. She raced at the Bolton Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. She only had 5 races and finished toward the back of the pack in all of them so was retired very young. She won't turn 2 until July 14th. Liv is a timid little girl that is pretty shy at first. Her trainers said that once she gets more comfortable she really wants to come up to you and interact but just can't seem to get the courage up sometimes. She will gradually warm up to her family but will just need some time. She is a small dark brindle girl that raced at 60lbs. Her sire is Pat C Sabbath and her dam is Livin Ona Prayer. Liv traveled well. She was not interested in the cats she met at all and is being fostered with cats. She wasn't sure of what to make of the toddlers she met and mostly just froze and turned her head away. Since she is shy she may do better in a quiet home with older kids. Young, loud, fast moving kids may be too much for her. More as we get to know her.

Indescreet (yes is is actually spelled that way) just arrived from the Birmingham Race Course's adoption kennel. She actually raced her entire career of 102 races in Florida though. She raced at Palm Beach and Sanford Orlando race tracks. She just was sent to Birmingham because they transport a lot of dogs to adoption groups across the country. Indescreet got bumped in her last race and hurt  the tendon in her back right leg and had a little swelling there when she first arrive with us at the end of December. She hurt herself on November 30th. Indiscreet is a cute, happy, brindle girl with a tiny white stripe on her nose. She raced at 62lbs and turned 3 on July 3rd. Her sire is Fortified Power and her dam is Constant Dream. Indescreet passed her cat test easily without interest. She also passed her small dog test. She is very friendly and seemed to like everyone she met including children. She kenneled quietly and nicely when she arrived and traveled well on the trip over.

Special Senior! GIgi initially retired from the Tri State Track in WV after just 20 races. She never won one of those races. She retired way back in Jan of 2012 and was placed in an adoptive home at some point but were weren't able to find any info on that. We were just able to find her racing record on the international racing database using her ear tattoos. Gigi was found 3 years ago running loose in NC. The person that found her just kept her when no one claimed her. The family that found her just contacted us about rehoming her because they could no longer keep her. Gigi is a sweet senior so qualifies for our reduced adoption fee of $250. She turned 9 on October 31st. Her sire is Freeride Rebel and her dam is UMR Ms Beulai. She has been checked over by our vet, got a fresh dental and a clean bill of health. More as we get to know her.

Duke just arrived from the track adoption kennel that takes retirees from the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville FL. He raced all of his 113 races at Orange Park. Duke was a fantastic racer that ran and won at the top A level. He competed in quite a few Stakes races reserved for the best racers at the track. His sire is the famous SH Avatar and his dam is Nisei. Duke turned 3 on June 22nd. He raced at 72lbs. He is a friendly guy that doesn't seem to be stressed out by much. He is very curious about things and needs a little work on leash because he wants to go check out everything new. He passed his first cat test with only a little initial interest in sniffing the cat. After a slap from the cat he didn't want to get near it again and quickly decided to check out everything else in the room. He was placed briefly in a home with cats but he had a completely different reaction to those cats and wanted to chase them so although he seems OK with some cats he meets he probably should go to a home without kitties. He did well with the small dog he met so should be OK in a home with small dogs. He really liked the toddlers he met as well. He seemed to travel well and walked right across shiny wood floors with no problem. He is a beautiful, unusual, black brindle - mostly black with a little golden/orange striping.

He passed his cat and small dog tests with little interest in either after the first few sniffs. He was more interested in exploring and checking everything out. A real curious boy. He can be vocal so probably will not be an apartment or townhouse dog. We also got Dust's sister My Wheel House from the came kennel.

Rainman just arrived from Blanchard Kennel at Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville FL. He is a big black pup that never raced so doesn't have an official race weight but we would guess him to be around 80lbs. He won't turn two until March 5th so is a young guy. His sire is Vee Man Vane and his dam is Superior Samba. He seems like a friendly, happy guy. He pulls some on leash wanting to go check out everything so needs a little work on that. He rode well with the other dogs. More as we get to know him. He is not a marker and didn't even want to pee on trees and bushes on a walk. He may need a fenced yard since he didn't seem interested in taking care of his business while on leash. Rainman loves kids and is being fostered with kids. He also did fine with the small dogs he met. He was pretty interested in the cats he met though so needs a home with no kitties. He is a very good boy that is very sweet and doing really well in foster care. He probably is not a going to be a good choice for apartment living because he has been a little loud sometimes in his kennel.

Surprise just arrived with his sister Liv from the Celtic Hounds Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race track. He is a 75lb black boy that is very young. He won't turn 2 until July 14th. He only raced 4 races and finished all of those at the back of the pack. He was retired young after coming up with a slightly sore shoulder after his 4th race. Surprise traveled well and seems pretty calm so far for a young guy. He sniffed the cats he met curiously but never tried to harm them, so even though he is curious we think he is very trainable. He is being fostered with a kitty so he will get used to being around them. He was very good with the small dog he was introduced to and is being fostered with a pug. His sire is Pat C Sabbath and his dam is Livin Ona Prayer. Surprise potties nicely on leash so doesn't require a fenced yard. He just whined a little the first night and then was quiet so may be a good choice for apartment living. He does fine on wood and shiny floors.

She seems like she is a happy bouncy girl that is going to be a lot of fun. She passed her cat test without any interest and was fine with the small dog she met too. Molly originally came to us from the Sanford Orlando race track years ago. She started out racing in Abilene, then went to Derby Lane, and Palm Beach, before going to Orlando. Her owners hoped to find a track that she would be competitive at. She only won one race and finished last or close to last in most of her races so was retired after only 26 races. Molly was adopted right after she retired in 2012 and has been living in their home since. Due to a schedule change they are gone more than before and don't have time for her anymore, so have decided to rehome Molly. Her family feels like she would do better in a quiet home without small loud kids. They say she gets stressed around children. She has been living as an only dog but doesn't like being home alone for long periods so she may do better with a doggy friend she can hang out with. Molly passed her cat test at the track and is being fostered with small dogs. She is a light brindle female that raced at 60lbs, Her birthdate is 9/1/2010 so she is 8. Molly qualifies for our reduced senior adoption fee of $250. She is timid at first so you should let her come to you. She enjoys sunbathing and walks. She does not like traveling or going for rides. She has never gotten up on the furniture. She is very dramatic and will scream if her legs are touched. She has never really played with toys and is a very calm girl that likes to lay around. Her sire is CTW Legendary and her dam is Seagold Jane.

Thinkin just arrived from the farm she was raised on in Florida. She raced her entire career of 124 races at Orange Park in Florida. She was pretty good getting up to A level. She was retired from racing in May of 2017 and went back to the farm to become a mom. She was bred once but missed. After the vote to end racing in Florida she was not re-bred, so never got to have any pups. Now she is officially retired from mom duties too. Thinkin's sire is the famous Fuzzys Cannon and her dam is CTW Anti Gravity. Thinkin is a very friendly, happy girl. She was very high energy when young but has calmed down some now that she is over 5 years old. She is still pretty active for a 5 year old greyhound. She rides well, crates well and is good on leash. She seemed to like the toddlers she met and was very gentle when greeting them. She was also fine with the small dog she was around. Thinkin was curious about the cat and followed it around and sniffed and sniffed it, but never tried to hurt it. The cat finally slapped Thinkin for sniffing too much and she wouldn't get near the cat again. Although overly curious at first, she should be very trainable with a confident cat. She is being fostered with cats and is doing very well with them. Thinkin is a very nice, outgoing  girl that is going to be a great pet.

He won't turn 2 until July 1st of next year. His sire is Pat C Sabbath and his dam is JT's Pat Benatar. Own it doesn't have a racing weight since he never raced but we would guess him to be in the mid 70s. He is a friendly friendly happy guy that didn't seem too worried about all the changes in his life. Own it passed his small dog test easily so we are hopefully he won't want to chase kitties either. Really sweet boy. He started out wanting to help drive by getting into the front seat. He settled down fast and laid down for the rest of the trip though so travels really well. He slept all night quietly in his crate the first night in his foster home and only whined when he needed to go outside the next day. He seems like a really nice easy going guy for one so young.

Wally just arrived from the Birmingham Track Adoption Kennel. He was sent there from the Daytona Beach Race Track because they transport dogs to adoption groups all over the country. He only had 16 races and won 5 of those so was pretty good. He had an injury in April and was kept and rehabbed in hopes that he would be able to return to racing. That didn't happen so was just officially retired. We haven't seen any sign of any injury, so he is long healed. Wally is a sweet guy that didn't show any interest in the cats he met during his cat test. He is in a foster home with cats and started showing some interest in chasing them so the jury is still out on if he will be OK to live with cats. He liked the toddlers he met. Jojo just arrived from the Southern New England Kennel at the Birmingham Race Course. His adoption was pre arranged by one of our families, that waited for him to retire, so he isn't available at this time. Jojo raced 166 races mainly at the C and B levels but did get up to A level briefly one time. He raced his entire career at Birmingham. He is a small male that raced at 66lbs. He turned 4 on August 6th. His sire is DK's Prime Time and his dam is Designers Choice. Jojo does have a pretty high prey drive and was too interested in kitties during his cat test but corrected. He would look away and behave with a correction from a person and stayed away from the cat after a slap. He did get interested again later though. He may be trainable if he was around cats for awhile, but his foster home has no cats so we think it would be best to place him in a home with no cats. He was similar with a small dog and was interested at first when it would run around but he quickly calmed down and lost interest once he realized it was just a dog. His foster home has a small italian greyhound and he has gotten used to seeing it running around, so we think he is trainable with small dogs with plenty of supervision at first. Jojo is a sweet, happy, friendly guy. He is adjusting fast and seems to be a smart boy that wants to please. He figured out how to get out of a wire crate that wasn't very sturdy and now is in a sturdier one that has proved to be escape proof. Even when he was out unsupervised he had no accidents in the house and didn't get into anything. Seems like he is a very good boy. He makes a very high pitched whistle sound when he whines and even his bark is very high pitched. He sounds like a tiny dog rather than a greyhound.

Cooper is a 5 year old guy that raced at Daytona Beach, Sarasota, Flagler and Dubuque. He wasn't very fast so was moved from track to track in hopes of finding one that he could be competitive at. He raced 87 races at the lowest levels and ended his career at Daytona Beach in January of 2017. Cooper was initially placed through another adoption group that was in the process of shutting down. He was returned to that group by his first adopter after being in a home for about a year in January of 2018. Then he was in foster care for nearly another year. The group reached out to us to place him, since they had shut down. Cooper is a large 79lbs brindle greyhound. He is pretty energetic for a 5 year old and loves to go for walks and jogs. His foster mom was taking him on 3 mile walks every day with her. He does have a pretty high prey drive so needs a home with no cats and no tiny dogs that look like bunnies. He is fine with larger dogs and greyhounds. He is in a foster home with older kids and is fine with them and likes them. He can be a little grumpy about his space so needs a home without small kids that wouldn't understand that. He loves to be up on the beds and couches. He likes to play with toys and is a happy guy. He is a very confident guy that can be a bit dramatic when he doesn't get what he wants or is asked to do something he doesn't want to do. He just turned 5 on November 24th. His sire is Kiowa Mystic Job and his dam is Kiowa Trey Tatoo. He wasn't crated in his former foster home but has been learning to crate again since he arrived with us. He is very good on leash.

She went to Wheeling in WV from there to race. She retired after 166 races in March of 2015 and went back to the farm to be a mom. She had a litter of 5 in September of 2015 that is racing now, but no other litters have been registered yet. There are likely to be others that are too young to register though. Lelonnie is a very friendly sweet girl that gets along very well with other dogs. She loves adults and children. She raced at 64lbs and turned 8 on May 2nd. Her sire is Lonesome Cry and her dam is Breezing Easy. Lelonnie did not pass her cat test but she seemed fine with a small white dog she met. LeLonnie's foster mom says she is settling in exceptionally well to home life. She is laid back and very easy so would be a great first or 4th greyhound. Exciting news! We are working on getting one of her sons that just retired from racing!! Because she is a senior Lelonnie qualifies for our reduced senior adoption fee of $250.

Kylee Jo retired from the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville FL over a year ago and has been in an adoptive home since September of 2017. She is looking for another home because her family is too busy to give her the attention they would like to. They are gone a lot and Kylee Jo has some separation anxiety. She is fine when they leave if she is crated, but that means she has to stay in her crate for long periods of time. She may do better in a home with another dog or with a family who has someone that his home most of the time, so she isn't completely alone all day. Kylie Jo is a 63 lb red female that turned 3 on September 19th. She raced 24 races but only won 2 of those early on so was retired young. Her sire is Flying Coal City and her dam is Chasmo's Ginger. Kylee Jo passed her cat and small dog tests without much interest in either. She lived with a cat in her previous home and is being fostered with small dogs now. She has been living with a 2 year old toddler and likes her and is great with her most of the time. She has gotten annoyed enough to growl a couple of times though, so may do better in a home with older kids that require as much supervision with dogs and know how to act around dogs.  Kylee Jo is a very sweet girl that is very friendly and loves every new person that comes to her house. She loves her ears rubbed and will chatter her teeth in happiness. When she goes to the greyhound playgroups she would rather stand with the people getting petted than run around with the other dogs. She loves going for walks and is good on leash. This is a happy, waggie girl that has the biggest, prettiest eyes. She does sometimes fuss and whine in her crate when she is left so would not be a good choice for an apartment or townhouse.

Foolish Pleasure was named for a great race horse. He wasn't as famous as the horse, but he was pretty good, racing most of his career of 100 races at the top A level and competing in a couple of Stakes races reserved for the best racers at the track. His last race at the Palm Beach Race track was back in August and he won it. Since he stopped racing even though he was winning, that is usually a sign that there was a minor injury. It looks like they hoped he would return to racing after a few months off, but that didn't happen, so he was eventually retired and sent to the Birmingham Alabama Race Track adoption program to be transported to adoption groups. He seems fine now. Foolish Pleasure raced at 73lbs and turned 3 on April 25th. His sire is NMS Sweet Thing and his dam is from Australia, Manyara Bale*. Foolish Pleasure passed his cat test without any interest. He also was very good with the small dog he met. He seems like a calm sensitive guy. A little overwhelmed by all the changes. He is sweet and walks up to people for attention when out of his kennel or on leash. He backs up nervously if you reach for him when he is in his kennel. He didn't shy away from the small kids he met when on leash. He is just a little timid at first and seems like he will warm up fast. More as we get to know him.

They were born on 10/31/18. When they are old enough they will be spayed by Hilltop Animal Hospital in Evans GA. They both came in for a family and will be staying together.
