Bingo came in from Mick Hymes farm in Arkansas. She is a red female that raced at 66lbs. She raced 57 races in Arkansas at Southland and got up to the top AA level briefly and raced in a couple big stakes races. Since she was so good at racing, Bingo was retired to be a mom, after her last race in September of 2018. No puppies are listed yet, so we aren't sure if she had any. At this point they would be too young to register so there may be a litter or two registered eventually. Her sire is the famous Djays Octane and her dam is Iruska Too Cool. Bingo was vetted at Emerald City Vet in Greenwood and is ready to be adopted. More as we get to know her.

Betty came in from the Daytona Beach Race Track closing. She also raced briefly at Sarasota. She is a littermate to the famous Duxbury that won a couple of big Stakes races breaking record times for those races. She didn't share her brother's racing skill though. Betty mainly was competitive at the lower C and D levels. She mainly placed and only won 9 of her 93 races. Betty is a pretty black female that raced at 65lbs. She just turned 3 years old on March 12th. Her sire is the famous Pat C Clement and her dam is WW Lonesome Dove. Betty is a friendly girl. She passed her cat test easily and even was even fine with a chinchilla so has an exceptionally low prey drive. Betty walks great on leash. She has cute floppy ears one that usually flips forward and one that flips to the back. She has had a bit of a bad hair day recently and the vet had to shave a patch on her back due to a wound, but it will grow back. Betty is a calm girl that should be an easy addition to just about any family.

Snakefoot is coming in from Mick Hymes farm in Arkansas. He was a very good racer that retired from racing to be a stud dog. He has 16 puppies listed so far and may have others out there that aren't yet registered. Snakefoot is a handsome brindle guy that raced at 76lbs. He will turn 8 on July 11th. His sire is Flare Gun and his dam is Oaks Mean Madina. Snakefoot moved right into foster care and made himself at home. Once he sees something the first time (stairs, new crate) he figured it out and had it down. Snakefoot potties nicely on leash so may do well without a fence yard. He was quiet all night the first night in his crate so may make a good apartment dog. Snakefoot is a wonderful guy that will be an easy addition to just about any home. Look at that sweet sweet face!

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Smith Family of Greenville SC, 4.8.20

Smote just retired from the Bolton Kennel at the Orange Park Race Track. He was raised at the Plum Creek Farm. Smote only raced 14 races. He got bumped in a race and was injured in July of 2019. He took time off to heal up and started racing again in October. Smote raced a few more races and even won one of those. In his last race in October he re-injured himself. He was rehabbed. He started running in some schooling (practice) races after he was healed up. He kept getting sore after his schooling sessions so they decided to retire him. Smote shows no sign of any injury. He is very large and very strong and excitable. Because he is so excitable and curious about everything, he pulls on leash and tries to go check out everything at once. He gets so happy to see you he bounces around and may jump up on you. He is a big boy racing at 84lbs and is incredibly strong. Because of his enthusiastic greetings he would not do well with toddlers, small kids or elderly people that may not be steady on their feet. He seems like a big goofy guy that would never intentionally hurt anyone but might just because he has no idea how big he is. He seems friendly and sweet and isn't intending to do the wrong thing, but is very active for a greyhound and definitely needs a strong leader that will set rules and teach him how to be calm and mannerly. Smotes sire is Dyna Double One and his dam is PJ Never Ask Why. Smote is very excitable and was pretty excited to see cats and small dogs but quickly focused on other things too. We just weren't able to get a good reading on him so need to do more testing with him before deciding if he would be able to live with either. More as we get to know him.

He was the winner of the 2017 Orange Park Redemption Stakes and the 2017 Orange Park Holiday Sprint Consolation Stakes. He was a 2018 Orange Park Patton Silver Cup Finalist too. His sire is the famous Lonesome Cry and his dam is L's Rovi. He seemed fine with the small dog he met and passed his cat test with just some curious sniffing. He liked the kids he met and is being fostered with kids. He is exceptionally friendly. His whole body wags when he meets someone. He is vocal and talks excitedly whining and making noises when someone new comes in the kennel. He is pretty active for a greyhound and very sweet. He loves to jump up and give hugs so we are working on that. Sum Dog has personality to spare.

Flossie just arrived from the Waverider Kennel at the Daytona Beach Race track that just closed. She had a short career of only 26 races and only won one of those. She started out racing at Wheeling Downs in WV. When she couldn't win a race there, she was moved to and easier track Orange Park Race Track in Florida. She still didn't win any races so she moved to Daytona Beach where she finally won one. She came in toward the back of the pack after that though. Flossie raced at 63lbs and turned 2 on December 7th. Her sire is the famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and her dam is Easi Key. Flossie passed her cat test with just some initial sniffing, then lost interest in the cat even though the cat still wanted to interact with her more. She should be fine to live with cats and small dogs. Although she is used to being around the kids in her trainers kennel, she may do better in a home without small kids. She was uncomfortable with kids she didn't know going up to her to love on her. According to her trainer, Flossie is a very laid back but friendly girl.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Stroble family of Greenville SC, 4.3.20

Special Senior! Fitz initially came in from Derby Lane in Florida. He is a big guy that raced at 82lbs. His sire is Group Rooster and his Dam is Cool Princess. Fitz's will turn 10 on May 2nd and has been in his adoptive home since November of 2012. His family adopted his brother Oneco Kennedy - Ned when he retired in 2014 too. Both dogs are being returned to us because their family has a 1 year old child and doesn't have time to exercise and supervise the dogs now. Now that the baby is mobile, it has become annoying to the dogs and it has been growled at. Although Fitz is normally friendly and happy around kids, he would prefer a home without small kids that might crawl on him or fall on him. Fitz is a very loving boy that settled right into foster care initially without any problems at all. His foster dad thought he would be a great dog for a first time greyhound owner because he was so good and such an easy dog. He gives little kisses and of the two brothers is the more laid back and less needy of the two. Fitz is a gentle giant. He crates nicely and is quiet in his crate so might do OK in an apartment or townhome. He does stairs very well too. Fitz is a great guy that passed his cat and small dog tests so should be able to live with either but we will retest when he arrives to be sure since he hasn't been living with either. The photos of him were from when he first arrived so we will get pictures and complete vetting done once he arrives. Because Fitz is a senior he qualifies for our reduced adoption donation of $250.

Special Senior! Ned initially came in from the Darcy Kennel at Derby Lane. His sire is Group Rooster and his dam is Cool Princess. Ned raced 127 races at Derby Lane and was a pretty big deal as a racer. He raced in big Stakes races and came in 2nd in several of those. He raced at 74lbs so is a mid sized male. Ned was adopted in January of 2014 and has been with his family since then. They also adopted his brother Fitz, who is also being returned. Ned will turn 10 on May 2nd. He passed his cat and small dog tests when he arrived so should be fine to live with either, but he will be retested once he is returned to us. Ned is being returned with his brother Oneco Fitzgerald because his family has a 1 year old child and doesn't have time to supervise and exercise the dogs anymore, which is causing behavior problems. The one year old child is mobile now and has become annoying to the dogs, so has been growled at. Although Ned normally like kids, and is very friendly with them, he would prefer to live in a home with no small kids. Ned is very outgoing and happy and that made him a kennel favorite at the race track. He is the more needy and playful of the two brothers. Ned is also a very smart guy that is a bit of a houdini. He figured out how to get out of a regular metal crate in foster care when he first arrived. We said then that he would require a plastic vari kennel that he can't escape from when potty training and manners training in a new home. This photo is from when Ned was at the track. We will get new photos when he is back with us as well as have him freshly vetted. Because Ned is a senior, he qualifies for the reduced adoption donation of $250. Lavato raced 57 races in Orlando and got up to the top A level. She sprained her ankle in September and was off until January to heal up. She went back to racing and even won a race since then but in her last race on Feb 21st she jammed the same ankle again so was retired. She is healed up and is not limping now. Because she has had a couple of injuries to that ankle, she wouldn't be a candidate for doing dog sports like agility. She is fine for walks and hikes and playing in the yard though. Lavato is a very very outgoing girl. She is very waggy and wiggly and is very happy to see people and loves everyone she meets. Her foster home says she is a total love and is very silly. Lavato is the most outgoing and forward greyhound she has ever met. She seems like she can be a bit bossy with other dogs, so may do better with a more submissive housemate that is more of a follower. Lavato loves stuffed animals and likes to carry them around. Her sire is Top Of The Pile and her dam is World Of My Own. Lavato passed her small dog test and backed away after a cautious sniff. She showed no interest in even approaching the cats so she should be fine to live with either. She is full of personality and will make some lucky family a fun pet.

Desoto came up from Eric Griffin's kennel at Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville FL. He raced most of his 145 races at the Caliente Track in Mexico so he may understand Spanish better than English. He also raced briefly at Wheeling Downs in WV and finally finished up his career at Orange Park. He did get up to the top A level briefly and competed in a Stakes Race. Desoto broke his back leg in a race on November 11th. He had surgery to repair the leg at a specialist in Jacksonville before coming to us. After surgery he was moved to Charlotte for rehab and his splint changes. Desoto raced at 73lbs and turned 3 on July 21st. His sire is KC and All and his dam is WW's Baby Bonnet. Desoto's leg is doing great and has healed up completely. He has been released by our vet for adoption for awhile now. He should be able to run and play normally. He is a very laid back guy and slept through most of his splint changes. He likes people and will allow you to do just about anything to him. His foster dad says he is a great guy that would make a great first or 4th greyhound. He gets along well with the different breeds of dogs in his foster home and is great in his crate. Desoto is a sweet loving guy that can be just a little timid at first with strangers. He does warm up fast to his family though but people coming to meet him should expect him to be a little standoffish at first.

Riley just arrived with her housemate Pluto (Barts Crankshaft). She was initially adopted years ago through another adoption group. She has been in a loving home for many years but her owner is having health issues that he is not expected to recover from enough to care for his two dogs. He had to make the difficult decision to re-home both dogs. Riley and Pluto really don't pay much attention to each other and don't seem to be really bonded, so we think it would be fine to place them separately. Riley is a tiny 55lb red female. Her sire is My Rooster and her dam is Firengine Annie. She raced 23 races at Mardi Gras Race Track and Sarasota. She never won one of her races so was retired young back in March of 2014. She has been in a home since then. She and her housemate Pluto have settled into foster care as if they have always been there. She is a very sweet well behaved girl that will turn 8 on April 2nd. Because Riley is a senior girl her requested adoption donation is reduced to $250. Riley passed her cat test without much interest. She was just a little timid at first but warmed up fast and is a sweet loving girl with her foster family. She would be an easy addition to just about any home.

Brandy just arrived from the recently closed Daytona Beach Race Track. She raced 36 races and also raced at Derby Lane, Wheeling WV and Naples Ft Myers tracks. She did get up to A level at one point and was racing in B when she retired. Brandy raced at 60lbs and won't turn 3 until September. Her sire is the famous Barcelona Boss and her dam is Magic Droid. Brandy is outgoing, playful and curious and loves attention. She seems confident enough to go explore on her own but comes back for love. She wants to get up on the couch or bed with you so seems like she is going to want to be a snuggle bug. She already paws at the door when she needs to go outside. She is figuring out the steps and so far prefers to just jump up or down all the steps instead of doing them one at a time. Brandy was very curious about the cat at first but backed off when the cat smacked her. She redirected easily too so we feel like she will be cat trainable. She is used to being around kids at her trainers kennel but does jump sometimes when she gets excited. Her foster home is working on that but she may knock over a toddler. Brandy is going to be a fun girl. Brandy was vetted at Clinton Animal Hospital.

Rize is a small 58lb female that just arrived from the Daytona Beach Race Track that is closing at the end of March. She had a pretty long career of 137 races but took a lot of time off from racing so has fewer races than most dogs that raced to nearly 5 years old. Rize traveled all over and raced at most of the tracks: Ebro, Sarasota, Dubuque, Flagler, Naples Ft Myers, Gulf, Wheeling Downs and Southland. She started at the tougher tracks and it took her awhile to get to a track where she could be competitive, but she did finally get up to the top A level of racing at Sarasota and Ebro and even competed in a Stakes Race. Rize hurt herself in a race in March of 2017, tripping over another dog that fell and was taken out of racing until August of 2017 to rest and recover. She came back and raced some races and even won one of them but re-injured herself in October of 2017. She was off until January of 2018. She raced very well until June of 2018, then was off until September of 2018. She only raced a couple of races and was off again until December of 2018. She returned to racing then and started winning more races and has been racing pretty well until now so her old injury is completely healed. She will turn 5 on May 5th. She is a friendly girl that is white with black spots. Her sire is Last Outlaw and her dam is WW's Rocket Lady. More as we get to know her.

Bradford just retired from the Bolton Kennel when the Sanford Orlando track that he was racing at closed permanently due to the Corona virus. He was owned by one of our volunteers and we met him as a pup and have been following his career since then. Be sure to look at his other photos to see some of him as a puppy. He just turned 2 on December 20th. He raced 42 races and was pretty good getting up to the top A level. His sire is WW All Star Owen, who we also placed. His dam is Glenna of Ruckus. His littermate B My Angel Eyes arrived with him. So far Bradford has been very calm for a young guy. He is calmly friendly. He does like to talk a bit so may not be a good choice for apartment living. No reaction when introduced to a smaller fluffy dog so should be fine to live with them. He was raised on a farm around children so is used to being around them. Bradford is being vetted in the Augusta Area at Care More Animal Hospital. He has been great with his foster home's other greyhounds. More as we get to know him.

Sketchy is a gorgeous young girl that was raised on the Plum Creek farm and then raced briefly at Naples Ft Myers and then Sanford Orlando Tracks. She only raced a total of 4 races coming in toward the back of the pack in all of them. Normally she would be given more than 4 chances to win a race, but the Orlando track is closing in June so the decision was made to go ahead and retire her now. She won't turn 2 until June 14th and raced at 63lbs. Her sire is Oshkosh Kid and her dam is Cannonontheloose. Sketchy is a sweet girl that showed no interest in the cats when she met them and didn't even want to get close to them. She was just curious about the small dogs so she should be able to live with either. According to her trainer Sketchy is not a great eater and just likes to pick at her food. She is the only one in the kennel that is fed twice per day. She is young and, has had no injuries and will chase a lure so her trainer thinks she would do well in lure coursing or other dog sports.

Sketch just arrived from the Palm Beach Race Course. His sire is the famous Highly Classified and his mom is the famous Ethel Is Here. Sketch didn't inherit his parents talent for racing and out of 30 races, never managed to win a single one. He did get some seconds and thirds though. His trainer says he was more interested in playing with the other dogs than chasing the lure. They said he is very fast and agile and could have done well if he had tried. He arrived with his brother Mertz By Ethel. Sketch is a small boy that raced at just 66lbs. He will turn 3 on September 23rd. He passed his small dog test easily, not even wanting to approach. He sniffed the cat and backed off. He got a little more interested when the cat ran across the room later. He seems trainable, though, with some initial supervision. Sketch was initially fostered with small kids and did great with them. He loves going for walks and meeting the neighbors and loves playing with toys.

She also raced some of her 50 races at Palm Beach. Azalea raced at 60lbs and turned 2 on November 30th. Her sire is the famous Barcelona Boss and her dam is Magic Violet. Azalea is a happy bouncy girl that seems fun and energetic. She was excited about the cat and curious. The cat slapped her and she wasn't really fazed by being smacked. She could easily be redirected when meeting the cat and just seemed curious and excitable about everything and not prey driven. She is probably cat trainable with supervision. She is used to being around her trainers children so should do fine in a home with kids. She can be bouncy and jump on people so she may accidentally knock over very small children. Azalea was vetted by Dr King at Pet Vet Animal Hospital in Charleston.

He was schooled there and just didn't show any promise there either so was retired and sent to us with his brother Sketch. Mertz sire and dam are both famous dogs Highly Classified and Ethel is Here. He didn't inherit his parents racing skill and his trainer said that he was really more interested in playing with other dogs than chasing the lure. Mertz is one of the greyhound grinners that pulls his lips back into a full grin whenever he gets excited. It is a submissive gesture and even though it looks a little like showing teeth it is actually a happy smile. Mertz is a happy friendly boy. He is a little guy that raced at just 67lbs. He turned 2 on September 23rd. Mertz passed his small dog test easily, losing interest after a good sniff. He checked out the cat, but after he got smacked by the cat he wanted nothing more to do with him. He is the littermate of Sketch who arrived in the same load.

He is very good and well behaved in his home. He is an all around great guy that is good with babies and young kids. He is good with small dogs and is used to being around other breeds. Country had a bump on the bone of his shoulder that was biopsied by our vet when he arrived. It was just a calcification and nothing to worry about. Country is a very happy, waggy, guy that is so loving and sweet. He likes everyone he meets. Country is good on leash and likes to go on walks. SPECIAL SENIOR THAT HAS BEEN WAITING ON A HOME THE LONGEST! Gracie just needs a home with no other dogs. Gracie is a tiny black female that raced at just 57lbs. She originally came from the track in Orlando and raced only 9 races there, not placing in one of those races. Her birthday is March 28th 2010 so she will be celebrating her 10th birthday soon. As a senior, she qualifies for our reduced adoption donation of $250! Her sire is Tony's Oracle and her dam is USS Upside. She is a littermate to Michele Henry and Cute Candle that we already placed and a half sister to several other dogs we have placed. Gracie lived with cats for 2 years in her first home and is fine with them. She has been in two adoptive homes before and has been returned for the same reason both times. The first home adopted several puppies after adopting Gracie. Gracie has always had some issues with not liking to be bothered by other dogs when lying down or sleeping. Having a bunch of wild puppies in the house was too much for her. Her family decided to re-home Gracie and keep the puppies. She was placed in a home with no other dogs in December of 2014. That home adopted a second female dog in 2015 and Gracie got along well with her perfectly for 4 years. Gracie bit her housemate twice in 6 months time, once over food and once over her space, so the decision was made to re-home her again. We had Gracie checked by our vet and found that she is low thyroid and needs inexpensive thyroid medication. Low thyroid can cause behavior changes and grumpiness. We started Gracie on thyroid medication and she has been perfectly behaved with quite a few other dogs in her foster home for months now. Although Gracie is doing fantastic with the dogs in her foster home now, we want to place her in a home with no other dogs. She attends greyhound playgroup and is fine playing with the other dogs, so this isn't a dog that can never be around other dogs though. She has never been grumpy with people approaching her when she is laying down, according to her former family. She is friendly with adults and children she meets. Because she has shown grumpiness about her space, with other dogs, we chose to mark her 'older children only', just to be safe. Gracie isn't a needy girl and is perfectly happy laying on her bed most of the day. She doesn't follow you around and you will hardly know she is there. Gracie can be a little whiny sometimes. Gracie is doing great in foster care, has great house manners and knows how to use a doggy door. She is ready to be a pet for someone that wants a very easy, only dog that will be calm and well behaved.

Silver just arrived from the Celtic Hounds kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track with her sister Lola and her brother Maxwell. She raced her entire career of 137 races in Orlando. She got up to B level but mostly raced at the lower levels there. Silver is a gorgeous almost solid black girl. She raced at 64lbs and will turn 5 on July 20th. Her sire is the famous Oshkosh Slammer and her dam is USS Time to Go. She got along fine with the small dog she met. She seemed like she had been around cats before and knew they had claws. She turned her face away and wouldn't approach and the rest of her littermates did the same. Silver can be very vocal in her kennel so isn't going to be a good choice for apartment or townhouse living. She walks nicely on leash. Silver was just a little overwhelmed when she first arrived, but her track trainer says she is a very outgoing girl that is not a bit shy. Very outgoing. Although she was a little stressed by the move, she has been happy and waggy most of the time and seems to really like the adults and children she has met. She is a smart girl that can be a bit of a houdini. She has gotten out of her wire kennel a few times so will probably need a plastic airline style crate.

Her sire is the famous Kiowa Mon Manny and her dam is Lee Juliet. She raced her entire career of 87 races for the Lester Raines Kennel. She got up to A level and even competed in and won a stakes race so she was a good racer. Nov 23rd she broke her leg. She had surgery with an orthopedic specialist in Jacksonville before coming up to our group. She has been having her splint changes and rehab in NC. It was a bad break and even though it is healing well she still needs more rehab so that she starts using the leg more. We hope she will be ready to be adopted at the end of February. Interested adopters can schedule meetings with her in the meantime. Delila is a happy, waggy girl that seems to like everyone she meets. She traveled very well and even did well overnight in a hotel during her trip. She walks nicely on leash. Delila was a favorite of her trainers kids. One of them would get in her kennel with her at the track and snuggle with her. So she seems like she is exceptionally good with children.

She raced at 60lbs and will turn 7 on May 15th. Her sire is the very famous Flying Penske and her dam is USS Santa Rosa. Sara was adopted by the Riggs family of N. Myrtle Beach 6/15/17. Her family returned her to us in February of 2020, but one of our volunteers, that dog sat Sara, asked if she could adopt her.  Sara is very calm, sweet and quiet. When she first meets a new person she will just stand there politely, waiting to be petted. She loves the attention but is a bit timid at first with new people and often won't go up to them to seek out attention. She just waits for them to come to her. She is a beautiful girl with a gorgeous, shiny, black coat. She is very quiet in her kennel and potties really well on leash, so would be fine without a fenced yard if her family was willing to leash walk her. She might be a good choice for apartment or townhouse living since she is so quiet and calm. Sara gets along well with other dogs and lived in a foster home with no other greyhounds so seems like she would be great as an only dog too. She passed her cat and small dog tests with no interest in the cat at all. She has lived with cats and a small dogs in a foster home and is used to seeing them both. Sara can do steps and will hop in and out of cars easily to go for rides, she loves to travel and just lays down in the car. She is pretty timid once she gets out of the car in a new place though, but is very good on leash. She is a very sweet, beautiful girl that is doing great in foster care and learning the rules of home life. Sara does tend to scare easily and seems like she is a very sensitive girl. She has been good with the kids she has met, but living with loud, running young kids might just be too scary for her. Quiet kids or older kids would be better.  Sara is completely vetted and ready to go home.

Panda came in from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. She also raced at Wheeling Downs in WV. Panda raced 134 races and retired due to an injured toe. She raced at 66lbs and is a beautiful muscular girl. She turned 4 on May 14th. Her sire is the famous Djays Octane and her dam is AMF Pause. She travels really well and loves to go for rides. Her trainer shared with us that Panda loves animal crackers. She would follow her around waiting for hers. When Panda goes into her kennel she turns around waiting for her cookie since she usually got one for going in her kennel. Panda was pretty timid at first when she moved into foster care. She tends to overreact to things that she thinks are scary at first but warms up pretty fast. The first time the HVAC system kicked on when she was outside, she was afraid to go back into the yard. She jumped at first when cars zoomed by on walks but is very good on leash now and loves walks. She has completely warmed up in her foster home now and meets them at the door with a wagging tail. She has become a very devoted velcro dog. Once she found the dog's toy box, she started piling all the toys on the bed and then laid on top of the toy mountain. Toys that squeak are her favorite. She liked the kids she met, but may be a little too timid to live in a home with loud fast moving little kids. Panda was too interested in the cats she met so needs a home with no kitties. She has been fine with the small dogs she has met. Panda follows her foster family around and likes to be in the same room that they are in and is such a love bug! She is quiet in her crate so may be a good apartment dog.

Gunner started his career at Tri-State in WV but spent nearly all his career at Orange Park. It will take him a couple of months to heal up so he should be ready to go home mid February. Arrangements can be made to meet him during his recovery. Gunner's sire is Seegold Big Red and his dam is Dutch Velda. He is a happy, friendly boy that doesn't seem to be phased by much. He seems like a confident guy. Gunner traveled well and even did OK at a hotel room he stayed in overnight on the trip. This guy has personality and looks! More as we get to know him.

Girlie just arrived from the CTW Farm in Texas. She just retired from being a mom. She had 5 litters of pups  - a total of 30 puppies. Her first litter was in 2014 and her last litter was in 2018. She was a very good mom. Girlie also had a short race career of 32 races. Starting out in Abilene and then going to Wheeling Downs. She got up to the top A level there briefly. Her last race was January 27th 2013. She has been living at the farm being an excellent mom since then. Girlie's sire is the famous Craigie Whistler and her dam is Oneco Esmerelda. She will turn 10 on October 1st. She has the cutest soft floppy ears and gorgeous eyeliner. Girlie is a very laid back older lady, but she still has a playful side in brief spurts. She likes to play with other dogs and will play bow to them trying to get them to play with her. She is just a little overwhelmed after leaving the farm. She likes people but is a little bit timid at first with new people. Girl is settling in well to foster care and is warming up fast. She travels really well and just hops into the van into her crate and lays down. She crates quietly as well. Girlie was too interested in the cats she met so needs a home without them.  She seems like a very sweet girl that will make a very sweet pet.

Fostered by (location):

Adoption Status: Adopted to the Tilden Family of Brentwood Maryland 2/28/20

Todd just arrived from the CTW farm in Texas. He never raced so we don't have a racing weight for him but he is a big tall handsome guy that should be in the mid 80lb range. He failed to show any promise as a racer in training at the farm. At the end of the races he kept running and playing and seemed to enjoy playing keep away from the people trying to catch him or maybe he thought if he stayed out there the lure would eventually start running again and he would get to chase it again. He is a very outgoing friendly guy that runs straight up to people any other time. He is a young guy that won't turn 2 until April 15th. He is a handsome dark brindle with white stockings and white chest and blaze on his nose. He seems like a snuggly guy that will stand next to you as long as you will pet him. He needs a little work on walking on leash because he does pull and gets excited to check things out. Todd travels really well and crates quietly. He slept through the first night in his foster home without a peep. He seems like a really nice guy that is going to be a lot of fun. He was nicknamed Goofball at the kennel. He can be very dramatic, yelping loudly the first time he had to go down 3 stairs. He is smart and learns fast, he could do the stairs just fine after the second attempt. More as we get to know him.

Trainable
Small Dog Tolerance:

Good w/ Children:

Fostered by (location):
Looking for Foster Placement
Adoption Status: Adopted by the Omalanowicz Family of Simpsonville 2/26/20

Tonto came in from the Daytona Beach Race Track. He also raced at Sarasota, Ebro, Flagler and Naples Ft Meyers Race tracks so has traveled around some. He raced 98 races and was pretty good getting up to the top A level a few times. He is a small male that raced at just 67lbs. He will turn 4 on June 16th. His sire is the famous Boc's Blast Off and his dam is Superior Rasta. Tonto seems like a very friendly, happy, little guy. He seems pretty confident and didn't seem nervous on the trip up. He wags and goes right up to everyone he sees. Very sweet. He has been in a home for about a month but he seems like he may have too high of a prey drive to live with tiny furry dogs. He has gotten too excited a couple of time playing with the Pomeranian in his home. He did not hurt her, but his family thinks he would do better in a home without a small dog. During his small dog test he got really excited to see the small dog at first, but it was always just appropriate sniffing, trying to figure out who this new small friend was. By the end of the meeting they were play bowing to each other trying to play. Tonto was initially quite curious about the cat as well, but backed off as soon as he got slapped and we couldn't get him to go back over to the cat, so he may do OK with a cat that won't engage in play with careful supervision at first. He seems like a very friendly, enthusiastic, playful dog that wants to meet anything and everyone.

She did even better when she was moved to Daytona and was frequently at the top level. Alva had a long career of 192 races. She raced at 60lbs and will turn 5 on May 21st. She did fine with the small dog at the adoption kennel and with the small white dog she was tested with when she got to us. She also passed her cat test and has been living with cats in her foster home. She just carefully sniffed the cat and then lost interest and checked out the rest of the room. When she was vetted she tested positive for Lymes Disease so is on an antibiotic, Doxicycline, for that. She didn't have any symptoms of Lymes and seems to be healthy with no long term affects. Alva is a very sweet girl happy girl with a wonderful personality.

Becky just arrived from the Waverider Kennel at the Daytona Beach Race Track. She had a long race career of 120 races. She started out her career at Orange Park in Jacksonville FL but was moved to Daytona Beach for about half her career. She mainly raced at the lower C and D races but did get up into A and B briefly. Becky is a small girl that raced at just 58lbs. Her sire is the famous Barcelona Boss so she is a half sister to Angus and Dude that arrived with her. Her dam is KB's Santa Rina. Becky will turn 4 on April 25th. She has a very sweet and gentle temperament and is getting along great with the greyhound in her foster home. She has mastered the indoor and outside stairs. She enjoys her toys and was fascinated by Game of Thrones. She walks well on leash. She is can be a bit choosy about her food and treats at first but is eating well. Becky was too interested in the cats at the track kennel so we didn't think she could live with them, but since she has met several cats and has been fine with them, so we changed her to cat trainable. She is very used to being around kids because her trainer has 4 kids and brings them to the kennel to help with the dogs.

He quit in his last race back in June. He has just been hanging out at the track since then. Dude turned 2 on September 8th. He raced at 78lbs. Dude's sire is the famous Barcelona Boss and his dam is Dizzy Diva. He is a very confident, happy guy. He gets along well with other greyhounds and  his foster brother who is a small dog. He passed his cat test at the track but failed a subsequent test after he arrived so he needs a home with no kitties. He seems like a pretty smart guy because he mastered the doggy door on the first try. He is a happy guy with lots of personality.

Cat Tolerance:
Yes
Small Dog Tolerance:
Yes
Good w/ Children:
Older Children Only
Fostered by (location):
Householder, Charlotte NC Area
Adoption Status: Adopted by the Hollar family of Hickory NC 2/16/20

Lola just arrived from the Celtic Hounds Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. She raced 149 races in her career. She also raced briefly at Dubuque and Mardi Gras race tracks. She raced a lot of the longer races and did get up to the top A level. Her sire is the famous Oshkosh Slammer and her dam is USS Time To Go. She came in with her sister Silver and her brother Maxwell. Although they did come in together and raced some at the same track they have all been apart racing at different tracks and will be fine being adopted out separately. Lola is a tiny, short girl that raced at 60lbs only because she is stocky. She is a gorgeous shiny black girl with flashy white chest and feet. Lola will turn 5 on July 20th. She passed her small dog test easily. She and her littermates have been around cats at some point because they all refused to get near the cat and turned their face away to avoid the claws if the cat came near them. Lola is the most timid of the litter. Although she approaches carefully with her head down low, she seems like she wants to be with people. She seems to warm up fast once she knows you and will lean in for affection. Fast motions can make her a little nervous, so we think living with loud, young kids would probably be too much for her. When she met some toddlers she turned her head away from them. She politely allowed them to pet her and didn't run away, but they did make her nervous. She can be pretty vocal in her crate so probably wouldn't be a good apartment dog. Although she complains sometimes about being in her crate she seems to feel pretty safe there and often chooses to be in there.
