Additional Details:

Chucky just arrived and is an extra large male that raced at 91lbs at Southland in AK, Victoryland and Mobile in AL, and most recently Palm Beach and Sanford Orlando in FL. He was quite the traveler and does enjoy going for rides and is good on trips. Chucky's sire is DK's Prime Time and his Dam is Char Jimmy Pop. He just turned 4 on June 2nd. He is a gorgeous brindle and is very tall. He towers over even other large greyhound males and is one of the largest dogs we have ever adopted out, and is one of the tallest greyhounds we have ever placed. Chucky may be a giant, but he is a gentle giant that actually lacks confidence. He can be a little timid at first in new surroundings but warms up fast. He loves to be petted and calmly leans in for petting. He has done well on slick floors and stairs in his foster home and is very calm and laid back. He has been to PetSmart on outings several times and has done fine with all the dogs and people he has met there and goes up to strangers for attention. He has been great with the small dogs or cats in his foster home so would be an excellent dog for a home with cats or small dogs. Chucky seems like the type that would walk or more likely run away from confrontation, in fact, when he gets scared he does have the tendency to run. The folks at the track adoption kennel warned us that he got scared and tried to scale their fence - without success. So he will need a yard with a 5 or 6 foot fence or someone that will leash walk him if he goes to a home without a fenced yard. He is quiet in his crate and likes to be in his crate so may be OK as an apartment dog. Chucky has seemed to be pretty comfortable with the well-behaved children he has met so far so may be good in a home with kids. He is settling in nicely to his foster home and has been well-behaved. If you want a sweet, gentle giant Chucky is your man. We just found out that Chucky likes water and enjoys swimming!

Chucky was adopted in June of 2013. He was renamed Chief. Chief crossed the Rainbow Bridge in April of 2017 when he was just 8.
