Spock is a small, handsome, black, male Greyhound that came straight from Mike Strickland's farm in Abilene, Kansas. Although his littermates are all good racers at Southland, Derby Lane and Daytona, his owner decided not to register Spock or race him. Even though Spock was very fast, he was nervous at the farm with new people and his owner didn't feel like he would do well at the end of the race when strangers tried to catch him. When we picked up Spock from the farm he came straight up to us and covered us with kisses and wagged so he may have overcome most of his shyness. He was great on the trip from Kansas and would grin and wag anytime anyone approached him. He is a greyhound grinner and grins when he is happy! He rarely tucked his tail, and was one of the friendlier dogs on the trip instead of being shy. His owner felt that he was too timid to be placed in a home with loud children that would grab him or scare him. So we are honoring that request, even though he doesn't seem to be the shy dog that we expected him to be. Spock is young and will turn 2 on May 1st. His littermates Splendor, Eyes Believe It, Eyes Command, Eyes Leading On and Eyes Slippery have just started their racing careers and are doing really well. Since Spock never finished the registration process and never got a racing name he isn't listed on the greyhound data database. We do know that his sire is the very famous Oshkosh Slammer and his dam is Whats Next. Spock travels well and gets along well with other dogs and passed his cat test with no interest. He is a very cute sweet boy that is going to be very loving to his new family.
